I am not sure if was the chickens that greeted me, the beautiful gallery, or the hospitality of Vivian and Walter Neill that made me never want to leave. Vivian worked tirelessly with us to orchestrate the shower, which was much needed since we were planning from our homes in Minnesota, Massachusetts and Maine. She was a source book of knowledge and wealth of support. The day of the event, Walter and Vivian could not have been more helpful. Our guests were astounded by the venue, all who came commented upon the uniqueness. I would highly recommend OTH as a venue for special events.

This last time, I painted "Pretty N Pink." On my first two visits, the instructor was Christy. On this last visit, my instructor was Monique! I have had SO much fun each time I've gone. They were both engaging, fun and very good artists/instructors. They take the time to make sure you feel good about your painting. They are also always there to help, as well as the other helpers that circle the floor while you paint. It can be a bit overwhelming to come in to a blank canvas and blobs of paint in front of you, especially if you aren't an "artist," but they take you step by step and the outcome is usually beautiful! That's also where the wine comes in handy lol (you can bring/drink wine and have snacks). Plus, you don't have to paint the painting exactly as they have it! You can make it your own by switching up some of the colors if you'd like. I think that's awesome! I never feel like mine are perfect (I'm a little perfectionist and hard on myself sometimes lol), but that's the beauty of it and what makes the paintings unique! I can't wait to go back again and again to see what else I can create! Also, if you STILL don't like your painting once you've finished and gone home, you can take it to one of the free SOS classes and fix it! You can go back as many times as you like, even if you painted the picture years ago. I think that's a great perk and it's so nice of them to offer it!

It had an eclectic selection of art from various artists, including a few that I really loved. I walked in and fell in love with a painting done by Annabelle Meacham. Her style was new to me and the colors were vibrant and very attractive.There were quite a few of her works in different areas of the gallery. Jay, who owns and runs the gallery, was delightfully well informed about the art displayed there. He was exceptionally friendly and spent quite a bit of time talking with us on various subjects. My fiancé was looking specifically for riablo, of which Jay had many to choose from. In the end, we purchase a lovely little riablo for a fair price. We were on vacation so it is unlikely we will return, but if we do get to Memphis again we will definitely visit Jay's gallery again. I highly recommend his gallery to anyone living in or visiting Memphis! It is a true treasure!
