I was actually turned away as a patient of a few years going through crazy and some life threatening side effects and did not want to take anything else as they seemed not to work anyway and then billed my insurance for telling me that because I was unwilling to play guinea pig they are discharging me as a patient I was billed for 29 minutes so they can tell me that which did NOT take 29 minutes. I wouldn't even give 1 star but format won't allow me.

The facilitators are professional and well educated. Often times when we end up in rehab, we feel like we have no choice to be there but this rehab got rid of this illusion for me. They gave us plenty of options from what group we wanted to be in at the hour to which tea we wanted to drink (there's so much tea.) You will meet all different types of people here, from all over the country. This part of your journey you will not be alone in. The rooms are nice and the food is awesome. Flat screen TV in every room (with Roku !!) I truly believe God is doing some work at Watergap. Everything is so well thought out.

The downside is that her office staff, while very friendly, never answers the phone or call back to set up my appointments. They don't send new prescription to the pharmacy on time and I also ran into an issue with her billing office trying to charge me for an EEG from over a year ago, which was covered by my insurance. I ended up having to switch doctors because I've been trying to get an appointment for several weeks now. I'm sad because I like Dr Wu, but I can't call every day until someone answers.

Starting to stutter, extreme fatigue, cognitive issues she stated it was my seizures. Sher ut me out of work permeably it effected my credit financial security my mental health and relationships. I had to accept state Ins and go to a new Provider which through careful discussion review of medical records and now hospital testing. SHE MIS DIAGNOSES ME. The Medical board also is involved not just with my case but others concerning her.

A lot of the staff / psychiatrists have experienced addiction or mental health challenges in some capacity and to be supported in my recovery process by others who have REAL, lived experience and aren't just college educated / textbook informed academics trying to cure people of problems and challenges they can't relate to or understand from within is just one component of what makes Watergap so unique and so effective. The staff are not only extremely experienced and knowledgeable, but they have a perspective on recovery and healing that you can share and relate to with them, I think this also contributes to how caring the staff are, they really all take such a personal and deep interest in your recovery vs this just being a way to pay the bills and put their degree to use (which I have seen at many places). Beyond the staff and recovery approach being incredible and also unique, the grounds are absolutely stunning with world class amenities. The natural beauty surrounding the facility allows your mind and soul to really connect with nature in the healing process and there are also such a wide range of amenities it feels like being at a luxury resort. From a massage/spa room, hiking in the beautiful Poconos mountains, group yoga and meditation, themed dinner nights, a glass sun room for yoga sessions, a beautiful golf course, daily hikes, a swimming pool - there are endless ways at Watergate to stay constantly entertained, distracted, challenged and inspired. I am so thankful for Watergate for changing my life and can't say enough good things about my experience and the treatment I received there.

Water gap lacked in structure. My adult son has a severe addiction and brain injury. We've tried…read moremany programs and had high hopes for Water Gap. He told me he left the grounds, purchased alcohol and that it went undetected. I asked many questions regarding the type of services he was receiving during his stay and was told the staff were trying to improve his motivation. He left against their advice and within a day, he threatened to harm himself. This program did not help him. Messages that I left were not returned. I did speak with a case manager supervisor who was receptive and provided group options. I called and spoke with a different person last week and told them all of this.
