I walked away from today's class with a comprehensive skill set that I can't wait to build upon. Training like this is exactly what my firearm proficiency needed. If you are on the fence about trying a class, my advice is just pull the trigger and do it. You will learn *so much* and have the best time. Thank you ASDS, for an amazing day. I would 10/10 recommend it to all my family members before they begin carrying. I have been carrying a firearm overtly for over 16 years and concealed for nearly nine years. During that time, I've taken numerous tactical shooting courses ranging from low to medium speed and drag. Going into this class, I initially thought a 16-hour California CCW course would be a waste of my time and money. However, Joel and Dave's expert knowledge, experience, and the overall flow of the course quickly changed my perspective. The material was well presented, practical, and highly relevant. The significant amount of simulator time was especially valuable and helped reinforce real-world decision-making. I'm very glad I took their course and definitely feel better equipped to carry concealed in the Wild West that is California. Thanks, gentlemen -- I look forward to taking more courses in the future.

Very reasonably priced, and the money goes toward maintaining the facilities. Here's what you need to know: * Bring all your own archery gear. * Please be relatively experienced. Know what you're doing, or at least make sure someone in your group does. They should take responsibility for everyone and manage the sight-lines with others shooting around you. * Hours are sunrise to sunset, 365 days a year * Park in the Alcazar Garden Parking Lot in Balboa Park. As of the time of the writing of this review, this location doesn't exist on Apple Maps. It does exist on Google Maps. I've tried to make the location on this Yelp listing as accurate as possible as well, to avoid confusion. * Dont leave anything behind! Leave everything cleaner than how you found it. If you do see any junk on the trail, pick it up and help keep the place clean. * Be extra aware of your surroundings! This is very different from "similar" archery ranges in Northern California I am used to in the sense that everything is packed pretty close together. There are some targets that are relatively close to others that are facing each other. It's not impossible that an arrow could come in your direction, so just be aware of what's going on around you. * Targets 1-14 have been closed for some time. You have to hike through the range, under the bridge, and across to the other side to find the "start", which is Target 15. * Target numbers are not clearly marked, nor is the path. Highly recommend you photograph the trail map posted at the entrance! * It gets insanely hot in the summer. Plan to go early (start 6-7) to beat the heat and the crowds. Have fun out there!!

I had a couple of fly rods that needed hook keepers which he agreed to do. I arrived at 3:10 pm on Friday, his last day and he was gone so per the instructions on the door, left my rods with the liquor store next door. Despite leaving multiple messages, never heard a word back and when I called the liquor store three days later, my rods were still there. So one more trip to Pt. Loma to pick them up. Not sure if Micah is just a kid who doesn't understand responsibility but is good (or maybe not) at wrapping rods but poor customer service will kill any business, no matter how skilled you may be at your trade . . . My advice: go work for someone else who knows how to run a business before you sink your own boat . . Just MHO . . .

After reading the many positive reviews for this shop, I decided to bring my old fishing rod and have it custom wrapped into a beautiful piece of fishing art. . I met with the owner and after his suggestions we agreed on a Tri color pattern on the Rod. He did however insist on getting rid of the old guides and going in a different direction. I asked him if the guides were salvageable, then please use them with the new colors agreed upon. I paid $250 in advance and was promised that the rod would be completed around Christmas. Fast forward to late July 2025, the rod was not completed and sat un attended in his shop. No work had been done to it at all. Nada, Zilch I asked the owner to return the rod since it was obvious that no work had been performed on the rod at all, since it was handed to him close to a year prior. I have heard of people losing their temper for the oddest reasons, the owner of this shop in my opinion resembled what is currently plaguing our society. I'm an older guy with worldwide experience, I have suffered as many have in their personal lives. He directed my attention to the wall which had a sign that stated "No Cash Returns." I asked him to clarify if that included NOT having done any work at all to a custom order. Which in my case was the issue. No work at all had been performed on my fishing rod. He stated he currently did not have any money & if I would prefer to take other merchandise in lieu of returning the pre paid amount of $250. I no longer reside in San Diego, my job has moved me out of state however similar to the birds of Capistrano, I make several migrations throughout the year back into the city of my birth, San Diego. He offered to send me a check at my residence once he had the money. I gave him my address and cell #. Today is October 7, 2025 I want to believe he may have forgotten about his promise to return my money.
