I would LOVE to give NBC 4 5 stars, but I have some personal gripes with this station I love so much. Why go young NBC4 as if the former reports or co-anchors weren't good enough? I mean we keep Jim and Doreen but bump Bob Ryan? Come on!!!! It's bad enough we no longer have Arch Campbell because if I have to labor through hearing Pat Collins any more....HE'S the guy you need to let go!! We let go of some really good people... =[ And another thing, why in the halibut isn't Steve Handelsman on NBC Nightly News? This guy BEAST out on his reports! Steve is about as stately as you can get. He has truly outgrown the local news format, and all praise goes to this former man of academia! Yes people, education goes a long way! Hurray STEVE! Help me get a job Steve? heh heh....I keed! I keeeeeeeeed! Ok, maybe I'm not giving the new crew a chance. I mean who doesn't love Lindsey, Dan and Doug (thank goodness he's a local!) but it was all so sudden WRC-TV! I have been watching you for YEARS! I think I've been watching News 4 since I was in the second grade. I grew up watching Jim Vance....even through his "trouble years" with the station and I've always pulled for him. And when I stood beside him in an elevator at GW after an outpatient procedure, I knew I was watching the right channel for me. He's the coolest guy ever! He IS Washington DC! Doreen, uh, I think she feels I use to stalk her when she did stories at GW back in the mid 90's. A former professor laughed when I told her the story and she mentioned: "Oh, what young guy didn't crush on Doreen when she first showed up?" At any rate, I love the news cast, everyone from Barbara Harrison to Pat Lawson Muse (who looks the same way when she was at my high school YEARS ago! hee hee) to Joe Krebs to Tom Kierein to Wendy Reiger to Tom Sherwood. I can't imagine NOT watching NBC 4 local news! I wake up to them, come home from work to them and go to sleep to them. Unfortunately, I just don't believe every story I hear on the news...lol. NBC absolutely sucks. Your coverage of the Olympics is the worse. I seldom watch your station and now I know why. The Olympics should be the priority right now and you to televise it in the middle of the night and when it is one, you fill it with a million commercials. I certainly hope you don't have it in 2 years, or I may just stop watching them all together. read more

I really like NBC4 news @ 4 and 5pm, but their volume is so loud it's like a bad commercial. I mean it's really loud! I'll watch other news. It's like some microphones are okay, but others are LOUD. TURN DOWN THE VOLUME NBC4 OR GET BETTER MICROPHONES. read more

Watching the 6-7pm newscast is part of my daily routine. I enjoy the show, especially Jim H. and Doug. Eun is good when she sticks to the news. However, I find it so annoying when she wines and complains about the cold weather. Seriously? When there are fires, floods and hurricanes devastating other parts of the world. Count your blessings: You have a warm, cozy, safe place to come home to. Please stick to the news. And special interest stories. You do a nice job on those. The weekend teams (Erika G and Mauricio C. esp.) are great, and I see them as up and comers for future weekday anchor roles. read more

They seem to do more world news than local. Example lady was killed that lives next door to my brother on 6th Street s.e today. They first mentioned next to Pennsylvania avenue (no where near Pennsylvania Avenue) didn't hear about it anymore but every other news broadcast had details on the shooting. Last summer, I went two months without air conditioning contacted news 4 to find out why Housing Inspectors are not doing their jobs never a reply. Never did they look into it. Current news you can trust! Leans very slightly left but gives honest news. Weather is usually accurate and the evening news team works well together and are not competitive with each other. It's the station most of my friends prefer. Didn't give 5 stars because it is somewhat repetitive day to day. Has newscasters I feel I could be friends with. read more

I appreciate that this is one of only a couple news stations to care enough to broadcast on Sunday, but after the first couple of minutes after the top or bottom of each hour, they competley switch from news to social media. The mind numbing stories of Pat Collins' snow stick, watching a reporter climbing a snow pile or the constant discussion about who will host the Oscars isn't news. Sending reporters around town to broadcast a snowy parking lot or sidewalk, or asking a passerby what they think of the weather, can't be anyone's idea of news worthy subjects. Anyone wanting to catch up on social media should stick to Facebook. If it's a slow news day locally maybe you could pickup interesting stories from across the nation, or the world? Otherwise, after the first few minutes of your broadcast I'm forced to find another station that reports actual news. read more

Used to be my favorite new channel for years. I don't know why they changed to be a cookie cutter news-tainment show. To get to the point, when I turn on the news I want to hear news...not jokes and your opinions or thoughts or what you like or don't almost after every news story. Come on folks. Truly not interested. I know you want to be relatable but it's too much over the top and time wasted not getting news stories. Eun Yang needs to stick to reading the news. Her interjecting personal opinions about every news item is annoying and unwelcome. It's not about the anchor person, it's about the facts. Leave it at that. Secondly, why are all the human interest stories about mommies and women's issues. Does channel 4 know that men would like to hear about subjects that impact them? I do like Chuck Bell and his presentation of the weather. He brings in extra facts to make the weather interesting. I enjoyed his brief Jenga interludes during the weather reports when he was working from home last year. read more

The only news broadcast I enjoy during my mornings. Missing Bob Ryan from the evening newscast, but these things happen. Extra star for NBC4 studios still being the place where "It's Academic" is produced and aired. As the longest running game show on TV, it's a great way for high school students to test their knowledge and get their shot on TV. Lots of history with this little station! read more

Amelia Draper leaves us out on her Weather repeatedly. I watched from 4 to 5 and nothing on Culpper or South including the Fredericksburg area. We are in your viewing area right????? I switched to CBS at 5 but at that time I lost my satellite feed. I stayed on CBS when the feed came back. Believe it or not, Channel 9 does cover our area. And I might add that Doug also covers our area. So in order to keep my BP in line, in the future if Amelia is doing the weather, I will need to switch to another station. read more

With all that's going on in regards to racism, you allowed the two people that harassed Street Vendors to go on your newscast and lie. Lie about how the confrontation was due to health concerns? When in fact, neither were shown wearing a mask in the footage that shows evidence of the harassment taking place. They told other human beings to go back to the Ghetto, not only to go back to Pacoima. It's almost as if saying "go back from where you came from", which to others may come off as racist or raising false accusations that they're not from here nor allowed here. This wasn't acknowledged through their desperate expression of concern. This is something that shouldn't have been broadcast as a "story time". This is something serious. I'm sure you have offended many people in the community, not just those of Hispanic descent. This is biased and selective news. Something not even helpful or educational for real issues occurring around the world. Completely disrespectful, and may I add unprofessional from your company's behalf. I hope that you can take the time to put yourself in the other person's shoes and perceive the fear they felt at the time of the confrontation. These hardworking vendors too deserve a chance to speak up, but most importantly a heart felt apology; as well as to your viewers. read more

I have watched NBC News my entire life and find myself searching for the remote every time Leon Harris comes on, he is awful and a poor replacement for the beloved Jim Vance. Thank goodness for Doreen Gentzler and PLEASE do something with the young lady who does the weather on Sunday evening. She is a pretty African American lady but as another African American woman the natural look for her hair just doesn't work. I'm all for natural but her stylist missed the mark. LOVE Channel 4. I am sorry to hear that some folks don't like Pat Collins. I LOVE THE MAN!! He makes ANYTHING interesting by the way he reports. It's like your uncle telling you a story!! I think some people are AGE DISCRIMINATORS. Pat adds a funny/cute FLAIR with his hat and style. It's good to SMILE!!! My one complaint, (which is why not 5 stars) is when Erika Gonzalez signs off, suddenly developing an accent when she says her last name. NBC 4 News has been my "go-to" station for years and years. I think their anchors and reporters are great! Except.....would someone please tell Erika Gonzalez to cut the drama? She's broadcasting the news, not performing on stage. She needs to tone it down and be more straight forward. Her presentation grates on me, and I've heard similar comments from other NBC 4 fans. She's the only reason I'm not giving NBC 4 five starts. read more
