So this was my second time trying Indian. I was a bit scared since I still had meetings the next…read moreday. This place was recommended and selected by my colleague who lives a few blocks from this place. We stated out at his fav local bar for a few beer accross the street and made our way over for dinner. After sitting down, we received a set of flat peta bread chip with a series of sauces - chopped onions, a mango sauce that was a bit sweet, a creamy sauce and two that were pretty hot. We had the local beer they had and then ordered. I was tricked into ordering a vindaloo lamp with special rice and garlic nan. They order some other stuff but I couldn't make it out since it's all covers in sauces. Anyway to give my feedback on the vindaloo, to my surprise it was pretty good. Don't know why I was so skeptical. It is known as one of the spiciest curry offered in England (wasn't told that before my order). Good for me I actually like spicy- more in the Mexican realm. The sauce did cover the meet which was tendered and seem to have been slow cooked in the sauce. It wasn't spicy off the bar, but crept up on you with quite a bit of heat. The special rice had veggies and eggs in it and the nan was delicious. Good news is that when I'm back in London, I will be open to trying different places that I have shied away from in my previous trips.

The rices are delicious- check out their coconut and lemon rices. The naan is very good too, and comes in a few varieties. I certainly got my fill of UK curry and would go back in a heartbeat. Price are also very reasonable, considering it's London.

Fantastic vegetarian restaurant with wholesome food of a very good quality…read more Meat eaters might dislike this restaurant, because of the lack of animal ingredients, but the food is rather tasty and the selection is very unique. This is a very affordable option and they have a fantastic eat-in or take-away lunch option, that is extremely good quality for money. The only thing I dislike about this establishment is the decor and feel of the restaurant itself. It's a little dingy and is rather cheap looking.

The other reviews of this appear to be for a different restaurant, perhaps the now-defunct 'Blah,…read moreBlah, Blah' further down Heath Road. At the time I'm writing this, the photo is also wrong, but regardless of all that... Two of us went to Atithi for the first time last night. The food was excellent. There is a good selection of both vegetarian and meat based dishes. Perhaps shorter than at some other Indians in the area, but it could easily be argued that allows them to concentrate on the quality of the food. We were served a small complimentary appetiser before our starters arrived. I'd gone for the crispy okra and my girlfriend the mini samosas. However, the starters did take a little while to turn up, and once they were eaten there was another bit of a wait before the main course. It was a Saturday evening, but the staff appeared to be a little overworked (one couple sat themselves, another took the more British approach of heading back to the door after they hadn't been seated, at which point someone appeared to show them to a table -- in fairness they had only waited for about 30 seconds). Otherwise the waiters were attentive and friendly, the food was good, and we will definitely be returning.
