So this was my second time trying Indian. I was a bit scared since I still had meetings the next day. This place was recommended and selected by my colleague who lives a few blocks from this place. We stated out at his fav local bar for a few beer accross the street and made our way over for dinner.
After sitting down, we received a set of flat peta bread chip with a series of sauces - chopped onions, a mango sauce that was a bit sweet, a creamy sauce and two that were pretty hot. We had the local beer they had and then ordered. I was tricked into ordering a vindaloo lamp with special rice and garlic nan. They order some other stuff but I couldn't make it out since it's all covers in sauces.
Anyway to give my feedback on the vindaloo, to my surprise it was pretty good. Don't know why I was so skeptical. It is known as one of the spiciest curry offered in England (wasn't told that before my order). Good for me I actually like spicy- more in the Mexican realm. The sauce did cover the meet which was tendered and seem to have been slow cooked in the sauce. It wasn't spicy off the bar, but crept up on you with quite a bit of heat. The special rice had veggies and eggs in it and the nan was delicious.
Good news is that when I'm back in London, I will be open to trying different places that I have shied away from in my previous trips. read more
