I hesitate to ever write a negative review, but I was so disappointed and hurt by Dr. Segall's unprofessional behavior that I needed to. One year ago when I delivered my daughter, she was the pediatrician that cared for her during the first few months of life. She did a fantastic job at the hospital and I was pleased with my first few visits at her office. She has a small office in North Center which was very convenient to where I lived. The office was a little run down and dirty, but had a nice central play area and the employees where very nice and helpful during that chaotic time. Then came an alarming episode I will never forget. After my delivery, I contracted 'C-difficile'- a rare virus that made me violently sick. In a nutshell, I couldn't control my bowels and had diarrhea uncontrollably all day. Imagine that on top of trying to heal down below after delivering a baby- not fun and painful. Anyhow, my OBGYN wanted to prescribe vancomycin, a drug with mixed reviews on the effects of breastfeeding. My OB said I first needed to verify with my pediatrician that it wouldn't lower my milk supply and adversely harm my baby. Online, there are a thousand mixed reviews- some Dr's say take it no problem, others say absolutely do not take it while breastfeeding. So, I called Dr. Segall to discuss and get her ok. When she answered the phone, she was apparently driving in her car and literally bit my head off and started yelling at me. I'm not exaggerating, she was screaming so loud that I couldn't understand what she was even saying with her thick accent. She yelled: 'How dare you call me while I'm driving on off hours!! This question does NOT concern me, it is the responsibility of your OB!' I said, well my OB instructed me to call you. She said 'There is NO way they told you to do that, they are irresponsible, you are lying, what hospital is your OB from? I'm calling to call them and tell them off.' I said 'I just really need your help in understanding if this drug is ok for my baby, can you please help me?' She said 'Call back during business hours!' and hung up on me. In the meantime, tears are streaming down my face, I couldn't control myself and crapped my pants in my bed, all while watching my baby alone by myself. I called back during business hours. She did not get back to me...e-v-e-r. I have never been treated with such lack of respect by someone who is supposed to be caring of people with medical issues. She never apologized, never got back to me. Her true colors came out that day. I was so upset I found a new pediatrician that day. DO NOT go to this office. She puts on a façade of caring for children but if you have an emergency and bother her off hours, the claws come out. read more
