I haven't had such bad experiences with the creepy guy, but I totally knew who the other reviewers were referring to. I did get creep vibe from him whenever I come in, so I have always avoided him. I know that having things behind glass and the counter is par for the course in an old school Brooklyn store, but it does put me off since I never feel comfortable asking for anything. The store is packed with stuff, which means they probably have at least something you need, but it is extremely hard to navigate. I have gotten a bunch of keys made, but I have been trying to get my mail key copied for months. Every time I come, I am told they don't have that key template and will have it in next week. I've gone in many "next weeks" and they always tell me the same thing. It's really annoying. The prices are jacked up, but sometimes I am in a jam and can't go all the way to Home Depot in BedStuy.

They wanted $50 for a piss poor copy of Every Picture Tells a Story. $125 for a Beatles record (i think VI) with extreme water damage. You can get Beatle records for a song (no pun intended) all day. I've purchased nearly 30 plants from this store and all are healthy and growing well! I have seen…read morethe woman who (I'm assuming) owns the shop get upset when customers come in and handle the plants, which I understand can turn some people off, but there are signs around certain plants that ask people not to touch them and also, there's honestly no reason to manhandle the plants anyway? If something is out of reach or difficult to get to, just ask them for help. I can tell the people who work here/own the place care a lot about plants and care for them with respect, because they are living things. (Also they have to protect their merchandise :)) I've even seen the woman help some person who ran in with a dying plant- she gave them advice and showed how to properly water it and tie up the leaves so that it grows proper, and I'm not even sure the plant was from Home Shopping Center because it was a kind that I haven't seen in the store. Anyways, they have a great selection, and great prices! This neighborhood seems to be changing quickly, but I really hope this shop stays.

Although when you enter it might look a bit cluttered up and over crowded, don't get just turned off and walk out, they actually have a very decent verity of all types of home hardware, say like pots & pans, cutlery, organizing containers, towel hooks and even alarm clocks.... (People still buy them?! It's like buying a flash light when you have one on your phone...) Customer service is also very friendly and nice and always more then willing to help you find whatever you're looking for and give you the perfect recommendation of the product which will meet your needs. One more thing that they offer is a Mikvah* on the spot that you need for some dishes when you buy them. In overall this please is great and therefore my go to place whenever I need nay home supplies. ---------------------------------------------------- *Mikvah, for those of you that are not familiar with it, it is a religious ritual that you need to submerge any dish that you intend of using multiple times into a tub of water that contains a certain amount of pure rain water, and after submerging it into the Mikvah you're able to use the dish for as many times as you wish. (Disposable stuff don't require a Mikvah)
