The Eltham branch is nice. Although it is smallish on the inside, there are normally 4 cashiers available, so you don't have to spend too much time queuing. There is also a good number of ATMs inside the branch too.

The staff do try and make sure that people are in the right place but it does little to solve the fact that a lot of people use this branch. The advisors operate an open appointments system and you book in and wait your turn. The waiting area is acceptable and the branch is bright and clean. Privacy is not that great in branch. There are rooms for consultations but there are also open units which are visible and audible to other customers. It's luck as to where you end up. Staff are generally helpful, although, as with all banks and building societies there is the odd issue. Account opening and maintenance is, in general, hassle free though. Facilities for the disabled are more limited but the branch is fully accessible. New passbook machines have been introduced which allow certain passbook transactions to take place without a cashier - these should help queues as people get used to them but, at present, much help is still required!

It looks nice inside, there is a fair number of ATM's that allow you to process basic banking services as well as pay in and withdraw money, of the same style you find in the majority of Nationwide branches. They did appear to be a little understaffed, with no one greeting customers at the entrance, and it did take a while to get served, even though they weren't too busy. A useful location for Nationwide customers, nothing too special or exciting. 3*

From the outside, the bank really does stand out, it is cool and beautiful with modern bricks. Inside and outside the store has a good amount of cash machines and newer ATM's where you can do most of your banking activities, and they also have a counter service too. The bank also has slight twists in the decor which are pretty cool and modern to emphasise the location in Westminster, London such as Big Ben engraded into the wall where some of the banking machines are. The staff didn't seem too friendly or welcoming, albeit this is common for London, it again is a shame to see. This is probably one of the bigger and better banks in Central London, compared to other banks nearby this is vastly superior of which does warrant a four-star rating.

We dropped in last Saturday to ask a question about our accounts, and the staff were incredibly friendly! After a very short wait we were ushered upstairs and offered tea. Again, the staff was very helpful, understood our questions, and answered them directly. I'd be quite happy to recommend the place. Based on HSBC experiences of the past several years, this is one of the nicer branches.

The cash machine being situated on the corner is great because you can see just who is walking by on either side which for your own security measures is great. Haven't used it for more sit down purposes yet but for the brief check ins on the way to the train station, its situated well at the end of the Lewisham High Street.
