I was so excited to find this place! Not exactly like the East End Food Coop in Pittsburgh that I'm used to but loaded with products unavailable else where! If this place carried produce it would be awesome! Owner us seriously helpful and even placed an order for me of stuff she didn't regularly carry. One stop shop for everything healthy. Great grass fed and finished beef from local farm that is top quality at an affordable price. Good source of wild caught salmon and even grass fed pasture raised elk which is amazing. You can find anything you can think of from grocery to supplements and even household health products at this location. Since the move to this location off of Commercial Blvd. (late March 2010), they have taken on more products and organic produce from different (not necessarily local) sources, added in workshops and more meat products in their now vast frozen and refrigerated sections. The bulk food area in the back is nice but we aware that the prepackaged and similar items' prices may be different and have no sell by/ expiration date. Save your receipt if you want an easy return/exchange of any rancid food item. Items that are out of stock and requested or special orders can take weeks even with regular and active suppliers that Nature's Pantry stocks. Occasionally they will have outdated produce or other items marked for quick sale. This can be a huge bargain but be aware of the quality and sell by dates upon purchasing. They have added to their cleaning and pet care products since the move. New and different items can sometimes be sampled in the back of the store but don't be surprised to see employees or their children eating them (and some of the self serve bulk items) as regular snacks. Nature's Pantry brings a lot to the State College area and I am glad for them. I am not enjoying how much more difficult it is to enjoy my shopping experience with sausage samples unavoidable at the new and fancy cashier station, vendors insisting that fish oil is vegetarian or Thanksgiving with bagged but bloody turkey carcasses crammed into EVERY available refrigerator until they are picked up. Be aware and sign up on their email list of FaceBook page to know when special discounts are being offered (Customer Appreciation Day is 20% off!) and the steep prices can be wisely tempered. First time walking in today after driving past it countless times. I was impressed with their selections. Imagine a local, down sized Whole Foods Market. I am overly excited about this place because they have certain products, and varieties of said products, in store. I'd have to otherwise drive about 100 miles to get it. The produce seemed cheaper than grocery stores, although the selection is limited. I only got bars, veggies and soda. I think this will be a usual for me, I just wish it wasn't located so far away. If you were to create a "Farmers' Market Store", this would be it. read more

I have to admit I kind of miss this place now that I don't live in the area. Family-owned, good selection of carefully-picked products, relatively convenient location, etc. The owner(?), who's almost always there, is alternately friendly and standoffish. Seriously, if you're at all sensitive to a person's vibes and attitude, try coming in on two different days, and I can almost guarantee she'll be at opposite ends of the spectrum on each. And the bad side of the spectrum was almost enough to keep me from coming back, to be honest. On the up side, her dad(?), who often hangs/helps out, is awesome: down to earth, helpful, and easygoing. But for organic/local/etc, this is one of very few options nearby, and I really do like knowing the folks that own the places I shop. read more

I love this store- the only negative thing I can say is its location and access from the main road. They have a great variety of products and incredibly helpful staff. I appreciate supporting a local business that has products that are healthy for my family. The owners also make you feel welcomed- which in today's political climate is really critical for me as I decide about the power of my purse. read more

Your neighborhood health food grocer with a little bit of something for everyone! It's hidden off the main road which is unfortunate but once you know where it is, it isn't a big deal. The employees are always really helpful, kind and educated. Something that is hard to find sometimes in big chain grocers. They always have some kind of sale going on. I have fun stopping in and wandering the aisles. Definitely a State College gem! read more

Having a good health food store is a necessity for me when I move, and I was relieved to find this place when I first started apartment hunting in this area. I like this store. It's family owned, which I appreciate. I've come here for various products: herbal supplements and remedies, grains, and meats. They always have a good supply and variety of locally sourced, family-farm-raised, grass- fed beef. For me, this is an absolute necessity -again, a huge relief to find this place. The staff has always been nice to me in the shop, though someone was once rather short with me on the phone. Overall, the staff is friendly and knowledgable. I only ever had one issue where a package of frozen chicken I'd purchased on sale was spoiled when I thawed it. That one instance aside, I've found the quality of products here to be excellent, and I think the prices are fair. Yes, sometimes herbal supplements can be pricey. But I don't think they're more expensive here than anywhere else- and by shopping here, you support a local family business. Do check this store out for your natural health needs! read more

I'v been here a couple of times. It has some unique and hard-to-find-items. Unfortunately, those obscure items ( e.g. cold pressed neem oil), are usually 300-700% more expensive than what I have found online. I've lived in State College for over 12 years, and Nature's Pantry is about the only place to buy organic, etc..except for Wegmans. NP has a much broader selection for sure. The lady who runs the store is very helpful. Anytime I've gone in she or her dad have always made themselves available to assist. They have really increased on their inventory lately with their new location out by the mall. Also, if she doesn't have what you need, she will gladly order for you! read more

It's great to have a place like Nature's Pantry locally. The store is very well stocked with a wide variety of merchandise. The prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. I've been a customer since they opened their first store on North Atherton Street many years ago. With every move, they expand to include more offerings, but the warm, personable atmosphere stays the same. My favorite part: the herbs. You can find just about anything here, in small packets or sizeable bags. read more

This store has a decent variety of Asian products and veg-friendly products, such as Ener-G egg substitute. They didn't have any mockmeats, as far as I could tell. It also has many eco- and animal-friendly cleaning products and skincare products. Prices are a bit on the high side, though. They also sell lots of meat in the freezer section, which was a bit of a turn-off. read more

I checked out this store for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon (6/26/12) and was very impressed of the wide variety of products this hidden gem had to offer. As stated in a previous review, the prices are a bit higher than other organic products found in larger chain stores in the same area; however, I am much obliged to support a local business and will gladly pay a bit more to help them stay open. The person I interacted with at this store was an older gentleman who was extremely sociable and inviting. I definitely plan to become a regular customer at Nature's Pantry. read more

I try to stop back here at least a few times a year when my gallon of Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap runs out! Besides that, they have chia seeds, quality peanut butter, 'Life Stinks' deodorant plus a great dairy section. Staff is very knowledgeable about products for treating various health issues. Easy parking (important for a driving-phobe like me), easy shopping. They even have a kids' playroom if you're accompanied by the younger crowd. read more

Ruined my friend's life. Basically falsely accused him of shoplifting (he accidentally remove two products from store while only paying for one, later called them back offering to pay them back. They called the police on him (the cop pleaded with them not to press charges). This was after he had spent well over $1000 at the store over a number of years. Ultimately, this led to him spending time in jail. After he did spend time in jail, he became extremely jaded and actually did resort to shoplifting (he had the attitude that why behave morally if he is going to be punished anyway; and his life was such a wreck that he wanted to go back to jail), and now he has a felony record. I contacted Nature's Pantry about how this affected his life, they were very dismissive and literally screamed me off the phone after telling me a bunch of lies. If the store properly apologizes to my friend, I will remove this review. read more

After driving past several times and at the recommendation of others, I finally went to Nature's Pantry. I am very health conscious while also being semi-frugal. I was excited to go as I love experiencing new stores and all they have to offer. I go to Trader Joes just for fun. I understand that good, nutritious, healthy food comes with a price tag and I am willing to pay that price tag - if the price is right. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by a friendly male. The staff was nice. I went over to the frozen section and noticed that many of the things that I typically buy were there with a wider selection available. That was all fine and good until I looked at the price. I know the prices of many items at various stores and even online. I remember stuff like that. The prices were a good $2-$5 greater than the price I typically pay. I get it - it's a family owned store but some of the prices I just couldn't manage. After finishing up, I went to pay and left. I come home and realize that the Spritzer drink that I bought in the clearance section wasn't the sugar free version I typically buy. My mistake. However, the Spritzers I did buy in the clearance section had a best by date of December 2011! That's not a little past due; that's almost 3 years old. Needless to say, with the past due clearance item and the prices, I know that I can find the same items at much cheaper at my normal shopping places. I had high expectations for the store, and unfortunately, I was disappointed. read more
