Amber has been cutting my hair for 7 years. I followed her from the salon she started at to her current salon at Sola, as did nearly all of her clientele, which is impressive. I constantly get compliments on my cut - probably 1-2 a month, and I've had the same style for years, so it's no small feat that I still get them this consistently. I get stopped by strangers in the airport, at stores, at work conferences, etc. She has done a great job with my short (just below chin length), layered cut. One word of caution - Amber's schedule is hard to get on last minute, so be sure to book in advance. You won't be disappointed. read more

Amber and her team are absolutely incredible. I had 7 ladies (including myself) for hair and makeup on my wedding day. She worked with everyone and was smiling and helping ease any tensions the whole way through. I also have to mention that I loved the way she did my makeup. I still looked like myself! But with airbrushed skin and long lashes and a natural lip color like I wanted. I stumbled upon her while searching for makeup and hair on The Knot and I am so glad I did. I would hire her 100 times over. read more

Amber is amazing with hair and makeup. She is sweet and kind and made me feel special as a bride. She wore a braid in her hair on the morning of, just to match the styles that the bridal party was getting, it was a very nice touch. I showed her pictures of the styles I wanted, and she made everything look amazing! Amber uses nice and gentle makeup products, which was great for mine and my sister's sensitive skin. She's very detail oriented and quick to respond to make sure you are pleased as a customer. She was able to accommodate everyone getting their hair and makeup done, with no worry of running over the allotted time. She handled it all herself, and it seemed like she was in three places at once. She made me look like the best and most beautiful version of myself. She is an artist, and I only have good things to say about her! read more

I first contacted Amber less than two months before my wedding. I was getting married on a Wednesday and was having so much trouble finding a hair and makeup artist that could fit me in in the middle of the week. I showed up the day of my wedding with no time for a prior dry run for hair and makeup, just a couple of pictures of what I wanted, and she did it all perfectly. I even forgot my lip color and she was able to put together a beautiful color from what she had. Could not have been happier. 10/5 stars. read more

Amber was so easy to work with as we prepared for our November wedding! We had a destination wedding, but she was so easy to communicate with that we couldn't tell the difference. She was also super flexible with our hair trial, as we were traveling in from out of town, and on the day of the wedding- everything was flawless! Thank you, Amber! read more

Naturally Raw Hair Studio - Absolutely perfect! Thank you, Amber! - Hair Stylists Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Amber did a lovely job on my hair for my wedding! My braid was beautiful and stayed put throughout the day and evening. She also does very natural bridal makeup, and I got to experience airbrush makeup for the first time! It worked really well for me as someone who is t used to a lot of makeup or foundation on my face. My best friend's comment was "You look so beautiful! And you still look like you!!" which I think sums it up well. She offered a consultation appointment prior to our wedding, and I highly recommend taking advantage of that opportunity. In addition to working with me to find the right look, she gave me some pointers on how to improve my skin hydration , which over time has made my skin happier and healthier. I especially appreciate her kindness and flexibility during times when our wedding date had to change. read more

Amber did my hair and makeup as well as my bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law. She did an amazing job with all of it including a more subtle look that I wanted to a more done up look my sister wanted and everything in between! My wedding was in July (outside reception) and my hair and makeup stayed perfect through the whole thing! I cannot be more appreciative of the job Amber did! read more

Amber has been cutting my hair for years, so when I got engaged last year I knew right away that I wanted her to do my wedding hair and makeup! She did HMU for myself, three bridesmaids, and two moms and everyone loved their hair and makeup on wedding day. I don't wear makeup often so I was nervous that I would look too different or not like myself, but that was not the case at all and I loved how both my hair and makeup turned out! If you're looking for a more natural look you will love her. We had a huge variety of hair types and styles, from very fine/thin hair to super curly/thick hair, and she was able to style them all beautifully. Not only is Amber an amazingly talented artist, but she is also so kind and just a great person to have with you on your wedding morning. Everyone loved her and we had a blast getting ready. I can't recommend her enough for weddings and/or for your regular haircuts! read more

I had a great experience with Amber for my trial and my wedding! I went to her salon for my trial and she came to my house the day of my wedding. She listened to what I wanted and transformed those instructions into gorgeous hair and makeup! I couldn't have been happier with how they turned out. Amber is laid back and easy to talk to, too! read more

Amber Kessler recently did my hair and makeup for our wedding. She did an amazing job! She even came to our location in Ann Arbor where we wanted to get ready ON A FOOTBALL SATURDAY! There were 8 people for hair and makeup and Amber and Cheryl were absolutely on point! We started around 7:15 and everyone had both hair and makeup completed by 10:30ish. Our photographer (First Comes Love Photo) was highly impressed, too. Just to give you an idea... 6 of us had thick hair 2+ inches past our shoulders and all got an up do of some variety. We had a wide range of skin tones (pale pink - dark) and they matched all our natural tones perfectly. Everyone's make up and hair held up until after midnight! They used a sprayer to apply the foundation and it works!!! The weather was misty and humid and looking at our photos you would never know. Amber was so easy to work with regarding scheduling (and as a full time grad student- my schedule is a complete pain to work with). I can't say enough good things about Amber and give her the highest recommendation to anyone needing services for weddings, events or just hair cuts! read more

I can't speak highly enough of Amber at Naturally Raw. I have been going to her since I moved to Ann Arbor 2 yeas ago and have never looked back. She always understands what I'm asking for and delivers exactly what I want. Last year I decided to cut 11 inches off and go from long flowy hair to a long bob. I was nervous but Amber made me feel comfortable. When she finished I was delighted to see that it was better than I had imagined. She gave me what I wanted and made sure that she did so in a way that fit my face and hair texture. Now that she has opened shop on her own the experience is even more personal. Her dedication to using products free of toxins is amazing (and so are the super safe products). The quality of Amber's work is unmatched. Do not walk, run to see Amber! You won't regret it! read more

Amber is the best hair stylist I've ever visited--courteous, professional, and most importantly, a true artist. I wear my hair in a short pixie cut, and she always makes the cut look beautiful and feminine. She listens to my input and always incorporates it, indicative both of her thoughtfulness and skill. As a bonus, Amber always uses natural products in her salon, and she is never pushy about purchasing styling products, shampoo, or conditioner from her but is always ready with recommendations. I couldn't recommend her enough. read more

I see Amber for my regular cuts/color, so she was my first choice for my wedding day hair and I'm so happy she was! It rained on our wedding day (good luck I guess) and my hair style held up through it all. This picture is from after about an hour in the humidity and 15 minutes IN THE RAIN. My hair does not do well in humidity, but it amazing all night. I also love her use of natural products and friendly personality. I highly recommend her for weddings, events and regular hair care! read more

Amber has been my stylist for ten years, and there's a reason I keep coming back - even though I live out of state now and make a point of traveling back to Ann Arbor for appointments. Her work is top-notch. Period. She offers highly skilled hair cuts and all-natural products, many of which are house-made with organic ingredients. Amber always takes the time to strategize my look with me, and is receptive to new ideas while steering me to cuts that will work for my hair. You can expect flawless results every time. Amber did my hair for my wedding on 9/4/16 and I couldn't have asked for better! Even though I have short hair, she gave me an amazing up do and did my makeup. and still had time for my 6 bridesmaids and my mom's hair. She was easy to work with and did a fantastic job. Amber did the make-up for my bridal party (bride, 3 bridesmaids, 2 moms). She arrived early, was professional, and great to work with. The experience we all had was phenomenal from start to finish. Amber genuinely believes in helping you look your best without changing the way you actually look. The makeup is natural looking and feels light on your skin - the finished product has such a "WOW" factor and stayed on all night. Everyone looked great and received many compliments. read more

Had an amazing experience with Amber and her assistant. Loved her enthusiasm for doing bridal hair and makeup, and she had no qualms with our location, schedule, and huge bridal party. She was honest with her thoughts on what looked best for me, but not at all pushy. I was totally pleased with both my hair and makeup. The day of turned out even better than the trial (which was already great). All seven of my bridesmaids looked absolutely beautiful as well. Amber clearly loves what she does, works super efficiently, and is professional yet friendly and approachable. read more

Amber was one of the best finds for my wedding day! She did such an amazing job with all of our hair. On the day of my wedding, she had to do hair for 9 people (myself, 7 bridesmaids and my mom). I was a little nervous that she was the only one coming leading up to the day because I wasn't sure about time... but she finished with plenty of time left over for touch ups. All the girls wanted something different and she worked with them to make sure they were happy. She is so professional but easy going at the same time. I think it's the worst having a hairdresser who is difficult to talk with. Amber is the opposite. She made conversation everyone but kept working while she did it. I could go on and on about how awesome Amber would be for your on-location wedding day hair stylist but I'll stop here. Definitely consider booking Amber for your wedding day! You won't be sorry. read more

I've known Amber for a quite a few years and started seeing her before she created her own salon. Amber is a professional stylist that is excellent at her craft and up on the latest trends as well as organic products. She is full of recommendations and very friendly. read more

I had such a great experience with Amber! She did makeup and hair for myself, my mother, mother-in-law and sister-in-law for my wedding. She finished with plenty of time to spare so that we were never rushed. The makeup and hair stayed in place until the end of the night (12+ hours!). I don't wear a lot of makeup, and felt that I looked like a better version of myself. The airbrushed makeup felt light, and photographed really well. She has a lot of experience with Asian hair, which is not always the easiest to work with. I highly recommend her - she knows what she's doing! read more

Amber did a fabulous job with hair and makeup for me, my sister, and my mother on my wedding day!! I don't typically wear much makeup, and I was SO happy with the outcome-- I still looked like myself, but also felt bridal and lovely! Hair and makeup held up all night. My mom, who really *never* wears makeup, was nervous about having hair and makeup done, and it was so sweet to see how happy she was with how she looked, too :). Thank you, Amber! read more

Amber recently did hair and makeup for my wedding, and I can't say enough good things about her - she is absolutely amazing! I had a bad experience with my hair/makeup for my engagement shoot (with a DIFFERENT vendor), and so I was super nervous about finding the right person for the wedding. But Amber was kind, patient, professional, extremely attentive to detail, and very skilled during my trial - I hired her on the spot! She has an amazing gift with updos - my hair was soft, romantic, a little vintage-looking, and super elegant, just the way I wanted it. She also uses water-based airbrush makeup, which is *SO* much better than oil-based--having worn both, I barely felt like I was wearing makeup, but it looked natural and amazing, stayed put, and lasted all day (our wedding was at 10:30am, and I didn't take it off until about 2am - it still looked great!). She was also super flexible (traveling to Detroit and starting to work at 6am), very kind and relaxed, and generally really nice to be around. (I'm even switching to her to cut my hair regularly - she's that good!) Don't hesitate to hire her - you won't be disappointed! read more
