Contributors who get too emotional and write long rants about a business or service are generally dismissed. Plus, if you're lazy, like me, you won't read anything that's too long. The most important takeaway is that I'm presenting facts, not opinions. So, I highly suggest that if you are in need of natural/stone materials (marble and granite), you read this review and consider avoiding United Granite. I've had nothing but trouble with United Granite from the jump. For those who are impatient, lack the time to read a long review, or haven't taken their Adderall, here's the short version. - Customer Service: Poor (UG doesn't stand by their work, doesn't stand by their products/materials, and repeatedly told me why they couldn't correct the problems I was having with my new granite surround while continually reminding me that I was lucky to get the purchase price I received for this particular type of granite because the price per square foot increased since the original purchase date. What are those problems? Two cracks. One upon installation, which they did a reasonable job collecting, and the second, appearing for no discernible reason at all over the holidays. Strangely, this second crack was in the flat horizontal cross-piece of granite at the top of the surround. When I contacted UG about this, they said there was nothing they were willing to do, and essentially refused to send anyone out to even take a look at the issue and try to correct it) - Tech/Installer Proficiency: Below Avg (template technician was totally lost and the installers made excuses as to why they couldn't or wouldn't do things that I've since learned are simple and rudimentary for a fireplace surround installation. And oh, yeah - they cracked a piece of granite while installing it) - Quality of Installation: Poor (installer cracked the floor slab in front of the hearth on day one. UG had to dispatch yet another technician to fill the crack and re-polish the slab. Of everyone I dealt with, this particular technician seemed to be the only one who really knew what he was doing, and his work was satisfactory) - Quality of Materials/Products: Poor (most of the detail about my issues with the granite are above, but how ridiculous is it that they offer granite that is so flimsy that it cracks upon installation, and cracks again for absolutely no apparent reason at all? What's more, why would UG increase the price of granite that is so fragile that it can't even support itself when affixed to a wall? I have since learned that the reason the price went up was more for UG's convenience than because of the actual 'high quality' of the granite. One of their customer reps disclosed to me that this particular type of granite was a real pain to deal with because it was so fragile. OK, well then why is UG even offering it to customers, and why did they increase the price by nearly 50%?) Bottom line - look elsewhere for your granite Bottom line: Consumers should avoid purchasing materials or paying for services provided by United Granite. Failing to do so would be a frustrating and costly mistake easily avoided by seeking more dependable and reputable alternatives for their granite and tile needs. They're not the only game in town, and as I mentioned above, spending a few more dollars per square foot will help you avoid a lot of hate and discontent in the future.

I've been trying to write this review for over a month and have not been able to write anything…read morethat adequately explains how fabulous the Kitchen's Plus crew is. I still haven't found the words, but I'll do my best. Let me start with what Kitchen's Plus is not: We tried two other kitchen cabinet services before finding Kithen's Plus. The first place ignored everything we said we wanted in our new kitchen and sent us a quote for cabinets that warp when they get wet and left off the added wall of cabinets, because "nobody ever gets the extra wall once they see the quote." The second place was open to the public, but they were so busy doing cabinet contract work for developers they had no time for us. After calling, emailing, and stopping by the showroom again, we were finally able to get someone to come out and measure for cabinets. Weeks went by. After more calling and emailing it became quickly apparent we needed to try somewhere else. Enter Kitchen's Plus. I left a message for Kitchen's Plus detailing my dilema on a Friday and by Tuesday morning, I was talking to Joel. He immediately got us on his calendar. It was our luck that Kitchen's Plus recently hired an interior designer, Crystal. She was able to help us figure out what to do with the tighter sections of the kitchen we were not sure what to do with. While we went in with one cabinet manufacutrer in mind, Joe was able to recommend an even better cabinet made locally by Kitchen Cabinet Distributors. The cabinets were built better and cost 25% less to boot! We put our deposit down and got on their installation calendar. Four weeks later, the crew arrived to begin. Joel, Nathan, Justin, and Crystal are all wonderful people that care about their work. It shows in the finished product. There were some things we wanted in the kitchen that were not available, so Joel made us a custom wine rack. It fit the space we had perfectly. He also went out of the way to find us a black drain for our new white ceramic sink, knowing the chrome one that came with the sink did not match our black and white theme. In addition to their excellent craftmanship the crew also works really well together. During the install, they'd joke with each other and at times break into group song. Where to even begin? OK, let's start from the very beginning. After checking out several outlets…read morethat provide ceramic tile backsplash services for new kitchens, we stumbled upon this small business in Angier, NC called Custom Colors and Cabinets. I liked their website and thought we'd have them come out and give us some ideas as to what a completely tiled backsplash would do for our new kitchen. A young lady by the name of Trisha Marsh answered when I called, and she began asking questions about what we were looking for. We didn't know at that point what we wanted, so Trisha started sending us emails with photos of different designs. I told her that my wife needed to see samples in person, so Trisha set an appointment to come to our home, and she brought along quite a few samples. We fell in love with several samples and decided on what we'd like to do. Now, what is hilarious is that when Trisha - a very tiny woman - showed up, she was driving a massive Dodge pick-up truck. At first, I assumed that the truck may have belonged to her husband - but surprisingly, it was hers, and she was proud of it. And let me tell you, her big smile and larger-than-life personality matched the size of her truck! Trisha spent a good hour measuring everything in our kitchen, and we gave her feedback on where we'd like the backsplash to go. She has a very warm, bubbly personality, and we were surprised to find out that she is the main person doing the installation. She demonstrates a great deal of attention to detail, measuring everything, feeling the wall for imperfections that she would have to fix first before doing anything else. She then informed us that it would take a few weeks to order the tile pieces since they were made of marble and glass - all made in Italy. And sure as forecasted, two weeks later, she got the tiles in. Custom Colors and Cabinets require 50% up front and the other 50% upon completion of work, and we did not find that unreasonable since many businesses do this. When Trisha finally began the project, little did we realize it would take 5 to 5.5 days - but it was also during one of the hottest weeks of the year. Her meticulous attention to detail, the cutting of the tiles with a special saw, her angled designs and precise placements made everything a joy to watch. She doesn't rush the process, nor should she. She's a true artist. We also found out that she installs new kitchens - and get this, she builds, paints, and installs the cabinets. We saw photos of kitchens that she designed and installed, and they looked like showrooms. Now let's be real here - if you want something installed in a quick, one-and-done manner, then forget about calling her. She's an artist - a pro - and she cannot (make that "will not") provide shoddy workmanship in order to rush through a project. Trisha's installation of our custom backsplash, is beyond admirable. The design and lay-out is first-rate and it finishes the kitchen to the point that the entire environment now has a very warm and comfy feel. Both my wife and I are quite happy with her work. Now, let me be up front. Sure, you can find outlets such as Home Depot, Lowes, and others that provide subcontracting work to do things like tiled backsplashes for kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas of the home - for possibly a cheaper rate. But you gamble on what you are going to get. Will you get somebody who rushes through the work and leaves many small details out? Do you get to pick the subcontractor they use (they often have a half dozen or more different subcontractors)? We elected to go with Custom Colors and Cabinets after meeting Trisha and are glad we did. You "may" pay a little more, but the end result will be quite worth it. We heartily recommend Custom Colors and Cabinets.

I didn't even recognize it at first. Trisha comes into your home with a vision - not just looking to make money. She envisions her home, the way she would like things in her own home, puts herself in your position, finds out what your likes & dislikes are. I've never had ANYONE work so hard to make me happy with my choices and to help me make my choices. The layout after layout she came up with - the changes, the measurements and re-measuring - and, more changes. She was AMAZING and was not happy until I was happy!! SO - she made the vanity for my guest bath and is now creating my entertainment center for my den area. You cannot go out and buy a solid wood, high quality piece of furniture in any furniture store for the price I received from her. You will be so glad you called them!!
