We hired them to install quartz countertops. The project involved repeated measurements, installation-day corrections, visible finish concerns, and a repair that failed to resolve the agreed-upon issues. As of October 16, 2026, the side-splash problem remains unresolved, and management has not responded to our requests to discuss a solution.
The initial measurement and quote on June 12 went well, and we chose them over another company. But the experience quickly changed.
After a second measurement on July 22, two crew members showed up unannounced for a third measurement the day before installation, despite our not having confirmed the visit. I asked that future visits be arranged in advance. Installation was rescheduled to August 12.
On installation day, measurement errors required the crew to modify countertop pieces on-site and cut drywall to gain clearance. Most issues were resolved, but the coffee-bar backsplash and side splashes were measured incorrectly. One side splash was too short; the other extended too far for the planned light rail that they were informed of. Granite South agreed to modify them, and we provided drawings with measurements to ensure we were all in agreement. They removed the side splashes on August 20.
While waiting, we discovered scratches, circular marks and dull patches on the quartz, especially visible when wet or wiping the surface with a damp microfiber cloth. Photos show some marks, though most are difficult to photograph. We cannot determine their cause, but the finish is not what we expected. Unlike light-colored quartz we previously owned, these countertops require more care and attention because of the surface defects.
I texted on September 4 and 9 for an update on the side splashes; neither message received a response. On September 11, I called the store and was told they could address both the side splashes and finish concerns on September 15.
At 3:09 p.m. on September 14, Dani said they did not have enough material to recut the short side splash and offered a matching-quartz filler. We accepted by text at 5:53 p.m. The crew did not arrive the next morning. Only after I contacted them did Dani say the appointment was canceled because we had not responded by 5 p.m.--a deadline never communicated to us. We had replied in under three hours, received no advance cancellation notice, and they had had our side splashes for 3.5 weeks before telling us of the issue the day before they were scheduled to come out.
The crew returned shortly after 5 p.m. on September 16. They said they could not address the finish concerns without making them worse, contrary to our understanding of the September 11 conversation. The reinstalled side splashes had a mismatched filler, still did not accommodate the light rail as agreed, and had staining along the edges that was not present before removal.
Dani said she would discuss the side-splash issues with Becky the next morning. We asked for Max or Becky to contact us. Neither did. Since September 16, my husband has called and texted requesting management follow-up. As of October 16, we have received none.
We have had quartz and granite installed in three previous homes across two states. Those projects required one measurement visit and one installation visit; our largest needed one additional visit for color-matched silicone. Granite South required three measurement visits, a removal visit and a reinstallation visit, yet the side-splash issue remains unresolved.
Mistakes can happen. What matters is how a company responds. Our frustration is the combination of workmanship concerns, repeated communication failures, delays, and lack of follow-through despite our efforts to resolve the problems.
We regret hiring Granite South and are exploring other options. We wish we had known how this experience would unfold. We would have hired a different company.
