I'd never heard of Natural Grocers until a few months ago and now I've visited two locations in CO in the past month. What can I say? I'm HOOKED! This place is incredible. I take the vitamins, use the lip balms, hair brushes, socks, purchase my elderberry zinc lozenges - which I basically pop like candy during these times, girls gotta keep that immune system thriving! vegan cookies, candies, tea - I mean I can go on and on. This store has everything I adore. They really have a ton of great items you'd need for all aspects of your healthy living life and extremely high standards for every product sold here. While, sure you may not be able to get every last item you need here that's zero issue for me. I'm used to frequenting at least two separate stores (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Ralphs -which I've now learned is City Market here) at home for different items. I'd give you the hottest tip on the Western Slope but I don't want everyone flooding the store for her ;) cough cough Jessica - greatest girl around. Great customer service from everyone I've ever encountered! Fantastic products, I can see why the health conscious peeps of all surrounding areas drive into town for this store. It's the best of the best. You can stop off on the drive to Telluride if you need to stock up on yummy goodies for your trip. very nice employees, well laid out, etc. but my family and friends seldom shop there as there is never any local produce ...and no deli. Local managers need to be empowered to buy from local farmers etc. No comparison say to Durango Natural Foods Co-op which has better produce, a small but nice deli, and overall better selection. read more

I shop at Natural Grocers in Montrose, CO every week. They have a good variety of everything you might need and you know it's all made with good-for-you ingredients. Produce is fresh, employees are friendly and helpful. A great place to shop healthy. read more

Excellent place for organic produce which all their produce is organic and the best selection in town. They have bulk spices, teas and nuts as well; again best selection in town. And they also have an impressive stock of supplements. read more

We just had an unfortunate experience at this store. We had purchased a piece of produce that was rotten inside when we cut it open at home, and asked for an exchange or refund. We did not have a receipt with us, assuming it could be found on our membership account. The manager told us that she could not look it up, and when I said we would return with the receipt, she stated " oh, that would be too late" and said that it has always been NG policy to not guarantee produce "once it leaves the store." Not true, in our experience. In the parking lot, another customer who overheard this exchange came up to us and said that she told them she wouldn't purchase produce there again, as other local markets guarantee their produce without issue. She also told us that the manager told the cashier that, essentially, she didn't believe that we had purchased the rotten produce recently. We have literally spent thousands at this store over many years, and in addition to not standing by the quality of their produce, we were also apparently badmouthed in front of other customers. Very poor customer service, at least by this employee. read more

Did not realize this wasn't a full grocery store. The only meat and seafood they have is frozen with a few pre packaged, half the store is vitamins and supplements, and they don't even have paper bags you can purchase when you check out??? Wtf. Totally get there is a market for places like this but don't advertise as a "grocer". Skip this place unless you need something super exotic and go to city market, which is awesome and way more reasonably priced. read more

I had never been to Natural Grocers before, and the experience turned out to be okay. They had many of the items that I was looking for (though quite a few things that I would never eat because they do not meet my personal health standards). There was an okay selection of fresh produce but not great (I wish there were more local items since I visited in summer. It would be nice to see more quality packaged goods from local producers too. Prices were pretty good, especially for this part of Colorado. The facilities in general were fine. We had just come into town and did not have bags. The cashier fit everything we purchased neatly into one large (and quite heavy) box, which turned out to be great since it didn't take as much room in the car as a bunch of smaller bags would have. I wish that this store were closer to Telluride. There is a real need for organic groceries there and Montrose is a bit of a drive. read more

Great pit stop on the way to Telluride. Nice selection of good food and reasonably priced. Staff was all very helpful and friendly.

Stopped for car trip vittles. Very friendly staff. Good sale prices on quality brands. Clean restroom. Like that bulk nuts, trail mix was refrigerated. Clean, decent variety of snacks and bottled water. Big supplement + Health n Beauty section. Wished they had some hot food, we had to pop into McDonald's for hot sandwhich. I moved to Montrose over 3 years ago from Colorado Springs, Co. One of the most important requirements for me to move here was that a Natural Grocers was in the citly. I was concerned it would not be as the population of Montrose is under 21K people. I called to check and sure enough they did have a store in town. Decision made! NO regrets! Bob M. read more

I love natural grocers. I always go in Denver. I came home to Montrose for the weekend. I wanted coffee but needed some no sugar added coconut milk. No luck finding that at city market. I went to natural grocers and found it! Plus I got my favorite calamyrna figs! In Montrose of all places. I have odd tastes and natural grocers always has what I need with reasonable prices. GREAT prices, good selection, (less dairy, meat option, less great prices in the two too), mostly friendly service, City Farm Eggs are the best and local (hard shell, bright orange yolk, humanly raised). Only place that sells the best City Farm Eggs! read more

I love Natural Grocers. Any herbal or natural vitamin and mineral they have it. Fresh organic produce, grain fed non-antibiotic meats, non-gmo and gluten free pastas , breads, and grains. Healthy snacks organic fruit chews and candy. Seaweed (great for IBS sufferers). Anything healthy you can find it here and they do their best to order it for you if they don't have it. Every staff person is super friendly and helpful. The only negative is some of the prices, should we really have to pay more to be healthy? I would still rate Natural Grocers my favorite store for health and beauty. read more

I don't want to give you any stars for this,but in order to do the review I have to give you at least one star. I just want to know if you are aware that you have your business next to a Ross store. I went to the Ross store today and purchased a few items that you sell in your store as well. I had them in a bag with the receipt in the bag. I didn't have time to go to my car to drop it off. So I went ahead and went into your store and did my own shopping in your store. When I went to check out I explained it to the clerk that I had some things from the Russ store in my bag that you might sell in your store but I had a receipt and I showed it to him. He was So skeptical and condescending to me.I don't begrudge him this, but he acted like he didn't believe me and he treated me like a criminal. That's my objection. I had a receipt I showed it to him. I showed him the iitems in my bag and they had a Ross sticker on them. He still didn't believe me. Do your employees understand you are next to a Ross store that sells the same items that you do ? I will not shop in your store anymore. I don't have to. Walmart now carries everything you do that I shop for. When you treat your customers like shit, you get shit. read more
