Our first appointment was an hour and a half so I never felt rushed and was able to have a good consultation. She offered me tea or coffee and gave me the best scalp massage! Long story short, my hair looks awesome. I have super curly hair and she gave me the best layered haircut I think I have ever had. I gave her some ideas and she had so many to add to it. I have coarse but fine, somewhat wavy, somewhat kinky going-gray kind of hair and Laura makes it easy for me to style at home. Laura also create the most beautiful hairdo of my life for my wedding. I felt so glamorous and didn't even have to fuss with it at all for the entire event. Laura is also a dear and wonderful woman, so wise and strong. So talented and easy to work with. She really listens.

I needed a haircut before I left town, and Lou Lou got me in last minute after a very desperate voicemail. I wanted to cut off 13" of hair to donate, so it was going to be a big cut. She had me text her some pictures I liked, and made sure I knew what I was getting into before she actually cut it off. She took her time and gave me a really fun, fantastic new style. She also made sure to schedule me for my next cut before I left (since she could already tell I'm a procrastinator), and told me to pop in for a free bang trim anytime. It was a big change, but I'm so happy with my new textured short cut. I keep getting compliments on it. I have secretly always wanted Mojo to be my hair place, and I'm stoked it finally is.

I went in to see Sandra with an idea in mind (stripping out the deep red and then coloring my hair to match my salt and pepper roots ... I am so tired of coloring my hair every three weeks!! Then putting in chunks of red or black). Sandra had a better idea ... and more kind to my hair. We are cutting and cutting and cutting while the roots grow in. She gave me ideas as to how I could cover my roots through this awkward phase AND gave me a hair style that does this as well. I can't wait to continue to see Sandra as my hair changes and evolves. Sandra gives you a great scalp massage even before she shampoos your hair -- which is another great scalp massage. She is fun to talk to and I love her sense of humor. Unfortunately I move around a lot, so I don't get the luxury of having Sandra as my resident hair expert. But anytime we're in the same city (which isn't often enough), I ask her to do my hair. Why? She's that good. Last time she did my hair it went like this: Me: "I want a new cut but I have no idea what... also, I want three colors but I'm not sure which ones and I don't want it stripey. Can you do that?" Sandra: "No problem." Guess what? It wasn't a problem! We had a 10 minute conversation about my options for cut and color. We talked about what would look best for my face and my skin tone. The result... Cut? Perfect for my oval face. Color? Spot on. No stripes. How do I know? I loved the way it looked. It was easy to manage myself (not too much work) and made me feel sassy. Other people loved the way it looked. I got compliments for months afterward. Not just from my family and friends but from strangers on the sidewalk in Chicago. Seriously. If you're lucky enough to live in Portland and you want to love your hair - make an appointment with Sandra. You'll be glad you did (and I'll be just a little bit envious).

Camille is the master of beachy waves. My hair is naturally wavy, and she cuts layers perfectly. No wedding layer cake look, just well-integrated layers. I can go natural and let it air dry, or get fancy with the flatiron - and it looks great either way. I haven't used her for color because I am pretending the ultra light blonde hairs at my temples are just that. Camille and I talked about putting in some foils when things start to get really grey, I think her quote was reasonable, but I've never dyed my hair before so I'm just trusting her. Which you should as well! She's seriously the nicest, least pretentious stylist I've had in ages. While I may have wobbly bits here and there on my bod, I can always trust that Camille has done her best to make my Rapunzel locks look pristine. I get stopped on the street. No lie.

Well, Camille did not even lean towards making me feel bad for my hair transgressions. She carefully listened to my unclear ideas and gave me the exact cut and color that I was looking for. Genius! Another thing that I appreciate about Camille is that she is a wonderful conversationalist. I have spent many an awkward hour in a salon chair listening to the hairstylist complain about their clients, coworkers and bosses or talk about their boyfriend troubles. Camille is a natural when it comes to making people comfortable through conversation, an excellent trait when you have a few contained hours with someone in their chair. Besides being amazing with color, Camille offers Brazilian blow-outs (a straightening method which ADDS keratin to your hair). I highly recommend this service if you have always wanted to have straight hair, but hate the everyday hassle of a straightening iron. Finally, Camille gives free bang trims to her clients. As if I need an excuse to LOVE her more. A needed maintenance item and a good reason to stop by and see her between visits. Honestly her color technique blows my mind every time and she has quite literally perfected blonde balayage. A very knowledgable person who will wow you with information about her craft if you're curious. I've never been anything but thrilled with the color results and she takes the perfect amount time in the consult to actually understand what you're wanting. I took in pictures of an icy blonde look I was hoping for and she asked all of the right clarifying questions. I was blown away by not only her obvious commitment to understanding the client but then by her incredible talent to match the look. I will never go to another hair dresser! Other great things about Eryca: Cuts: I was always terrified of basic trims because every other stylist has chopped off more than they suggested and my hair takes forever to grow. But she remembers this about me and only ever trims the minimum, even when I request less than her suggestion. I can always trust her to take just what is needed. I also took the plunge on getting a fringe and she made them so cute! A life changing hair decision and exactly what I had envisioned (she knows several different styles of bangs and she again made sure she knew exactly which one I was going for). With free bang trims between visits that magically come out perfect every time, I am reluctant to have anyone else touch my fringe (ever). Communication: I am a super introverted person who typically dreads small talk. But Eryca is SO easy to talk to. She senses when her clients just want to zone out and enjoy and is also such a joy to chat with; she has a total heart of gold. Also, love that I can book online or just text her to see if she has openings. She has managed to squeeze me in last minute for a bang trim on multiple occasions and I can almost always book the same week for even a full color work up. Gotta love that! She also runs frequent discounts through her instagram page on top of her already totally reasonable rates. Honestly I could go on and on, but this woman is the best of the best! I appreciate her talent and passion so much! You will leave her feeling like a million bucks every time.
