Because of the building's beauty and personality, the entire educational process feels unique and motivating. Every day from 9:30 to 13:30, I attended the intense morning lessons. After a 20-minute break, we had a second lesson with a new teacher from 11:40 to 13:40. The first class ran from 9:30 to 11:20. At first, I was concerned that four hours a day would seem long, but in reality, the classes were so interesting that I didn't realize how quickly the time was passing. The program's structure is extremely well-organized. There is a clear and seamless transition between each level. I'm rather pleased of myself because I started at the end of the A1 level and worked my way up to B2 after five months. We practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in these all-encompassing lessons. Each level concludes with a comprehensive exam that includes speaking. Depending on your score, you can either advance or repeat the level to improve your understanding. I also really enjoyed that the teachers are locals, so you learn not only the language but also the local context, customs, and culture. Following five months of complete immersion,There just isn't a better way to learn a language, in my opinion.

You really need to learn this material in a class... and further - you have to actually put it into practice. Lisa runs a great school where the teachers are teaching us how to teach English, using the methods that we are then to use in actual classrooms of students looking to learn English. This is a totally hands-on course where after the first week, I was put in a classroom situation and actually teaching (practicing of course) with a teacher observer making sure i didn't mess up. Each subsequent class I taught improved, as I slowly incorporated my new lessons from the morning class into the afternoon lesson that I was giving. All of the teachers are helpful, patient, and make learning fun. This is a super-intensive course that has been kicking my ass for the past 3 weeks (almost done - yay!), but I feel completely prepared to go out and teach/tutor English. Who knew that the first thing I'd do when I moved to Spain was to learn English... go figure.

This school is really bad. The lady that gave the 5 second oral exam spoke really fast and had no…read moretime to check my level of Spanish. The staff never offered the 2 hour trial class and they make you sign a form so that you cannot get your money back. The 2 classes i attended were with all Asian people with no Spanish and they only spoke in their own language. In the conversation class nobody spoke spanish and all we did was learn different words that the teacher wrote on the whiteboard. When I asked for my money back I was told no as I signed the form agreeing to that. Do not attend this school. There are better schools in Barcelona with better experience and are happy to refund you if the course is not the standard you expected. Camino and Dime are two great schools and a lot more professional than this joke of a place.

I was very lucky as my class was very small, we were only 5 students in total. The school itself is pretty bare bones, if you don't expect a plush / luxury environment it could work for you. I was offered one free class before deciding if I wanted to sign up, which is a great option for anybody new wanting to decide if this school could be a fit. The quality of the teacher, location and size of class was the determining factor for this high score.

Usually after the first week of classes, I start to dread going to the next class, but I enjoyed these classes so thorougly that I found myself excited to go everyday and I didn't want to miss anything in class. On days that I couldn't make it to class because of work, Maripaz took the time to email me the lesson and the homework. Maripaz also teaches us things that are so useful. Common phrases and how to use them. Not just stuff from the textbook. I feel more like a human being when speaking to people, instead of like a robot. -The class sizes! One of my pet peeves when taking a language class is when the classes are so big, you don't get a chance to practice speaking the language. At M&M, the classes have a maximum of 6 students. I felt that I was given sufficient time to practice speaking and answering questions. I could ask when I didn't understand something and I didn't feel like I was holding the rest of the class back. You get to know your classmates more personally and there is a nice bond and confidence that comes from that. -The school. The school is located 3 minutes walking distance from Monumental station. It is easy to get to. They have cookies, tea, and coffee for their students too! They also have a library where you can borrow books in Spanish or English. They are good books too!!! I finally feel like I understand how to use the grammar I had previously learned. It is a good feeling to be able to put it into practical use. I whole-heartedly recommend this school.

The owner Matthew is one of the most helpful people you could meet, and a great host to this school. My Spanish teacher Maripaz, kept class, fun and interesting, something I never experienced whilst studying languages at school. One of the best things about the classes is that they were for a maximum of 6 people which allowed you to have your questions answered and to allow you to participate regularly within the class. The location for me was perfect, being a 3 minute walk from monumental metro station (L2 Purple Line). They also teach English, German, and French. I took the intensive 4-week CELTA certification through Oxford TEFL. The tutors were all…read morefirst-rate, knowledgable, and experienced English-language teachers, and you will learn a lot from them if you enroll in this course. They are not joking when they say "intensive" --you will be working your tail off from Day 1 until the very end. That's okay, though, if you enjoy learning. You may even meet some wonderful people that you connect with. You will learn the CELTA method, how to plan lessons, analyze language, and you will get 6 hours of hands-on teaching practice, as well as time to observe your peers and experienced teachers. As a teacher for 20 years, I can say that they are definitely more generous than I would be in allowing students to resubmit assignments that they fail the first time. If you work hard, it's pretty tough to fail this course, so you can enter it feeling confident that you'll pass. A few things Oxford TEFL could work on: 1. Organization. There were problems with setting up Teams accounts and accessing information. In addition, one of the tutors messed up and assigned the same lesson to two students, forcing one of them to create an entirely new lesson plan without a lot of time--and lesson planning takes the majority of your time in this course. 2. The Careers office doesn't seem to know what they're doing. For example, they sent out an email that was like "apply to The Bridge in Bratislava, they always need teachers," then when I and at least one other person I know of wrote to that school, the hiring manager wrote back to both of us and said "nope, we're good, we don't need teachers right now." 3. Oxford TEFL's CELTA course trains you to teach ADULTS, yet for some reason the majority of the schools they partner with and send information about involve teaching children (like, 3-12 year olds), something we were NOT taught to do. This makes no sense, and I imagine that most of us did CELTA because we don't want to teach 3-year-olds, which is really babysitting, let's be real. 4. If you are not an EU citizen, basically you haven't a hope of getting a job in an EU country unless you're willing to work there illegally. Don't think, "Oh I'll do this course and then I can teach English in France/Spain/Portugal/Italy/etc." You can't. No one will sponsor a work visa for you. If you're not an EU citizen, plan on teaching children in Asia or South-East Asia.

It was hard work, but you walk away with knowledge that you could not find anywhere else. My only complaint is that timing is everything here. I did the March program, and it is in the middle of Spain's school semester. If you intend on teaching in a school, I highly recommend waiting until the school year starts. You have to find a job on your own (they help with resume), so you should plan to start the program for the type of job that best suits your needs. Other than that, highly recommend!
