I worked there a few years back and found that nearly everything is centred around the needs of the individual and not necessarily the business needs. However, all the work gets done and everyone seems happy with this and they are very successful managing, unlike some, to keep hold of all the money invested with no help from the government. The motivation for this good will to employees could stem from one or two places - it's mutual status allows it to do this without answering to shareholders and it needs to be good to retain staff Whatever the reason try working there to find out more.

Also have cash machines for withdrawals and paying in. Another bonus is that it's nowhere near as crowded as the town branch.

They have two cashpoint machines outside, but be warned, there are rumours that these have been targeted by scammers in the past who clone your card. The staff there are helpful and friendly, but there are often long queues.

They take the time to listen, offer great advise and don't go for 'the hard sell' when you loosely ask about opening a savings account. It genuinely seems that your needs come first - which makes a welcome change! This branch rarely has queues, which makes it a great place to pop in a cheque on your lunch hour. They also have in-store cash machines, deposit machines and a separate help-desk if you need some one-to-one advise. They also have trays of free Murray Mints on the desk which I think is sweet touch (see what I did there?)

I am a long time member of the Co-Op bank, which has never let me down (but singing the praises of…read moreone of the few ethical banks on the high street is another matter). This branch is always efficient, rather sedate, none of that high street bank 'crowd' feel. They are rather old fashioned, like banks used to be and you don't feel you are in the grip of a purely commercially motivated enterprise.
