WARNING! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN!!!! I saw the bad reviews and hoped that they were just a few disgruntled customers. We all make mistakes and no one is perfect. Eddie had a 4 foot refrigerated display case that I needed ASAP. He was kind enough to wait for me to arrive on a Tuesday. I paid $880 including tax with free delivery and haul away of my broken display case. He also had a refrigerated prep table that he said he would fix up for me and put a cover (the cover was broken). He said I could pay for it $700 cash upon delivery the next day. I asked if I needed to hire a window person to take out our window glass so he could fit it through because I didn't think it would fit through the door. He measured it and said it would fit. He wrote on the invoice that the door needed to have a 32" wide clearance. I said I would check and hire a glass person to remove the door if it didn't fit. My door had a 32.5" clearance. I didn't hire a glass person. I don't usually work on Wednesdays but I went in to wait for him. He never called. I called in the afternoon and he said he wasn't finished fixing the prep table and that he would deliver the next day. He also said that it will not be$750. On Thursday he said he would come on Friday. I told him I would only be there from 9am to 11am. He said he would call at 10. On Friday I called at 12 saying I needed to leave. He sent me a picture of a technician working on the prep table. This was irritating as it should have been done on Wednesday. I left cash with my employee with instructions to only pay after the 2 items were delivered, plugged in and working. He arrived with a very frail older man. They could barely remove the prep table from their truck. First he said he was never told that he was supposed to remove our broken display case. Then he broke our door trying to force the new display case through. My employee called saying he couldn't fit it through. I instructed her to tell him to stop and we would reschedule. He wouldn't listen to her and was very rude, telling her that he was working and she was bothering him. I called him and told him to stop and that I did not appreciate his being rude to my employees. He said that she was yelling at him. I really doubt this. We agreed to reschedule for the following day so I could find someone to remove the door. The next day he needed to deliver by 11am and I could not find anyone to arrive in time for him. Finally we agreed to wait until after Thanksgiving as we were very busy during the holiday. On the Friday after Thanksgiving I texted and asked if he could deliver the display case that day or the next morning. He said 1:00. I had 3 hours to schedule someone to remove the door. While I was on the phone, he called. I called him right back and he didn't pick up. I've attached a photo of the rest of our conversation. He wanted me to pay for the prep table (now $850) before he would deliver the display case I had already paid for. I wanted to return the prep table because it was broken on the side that would be facing customers and the top was covered in condensation. He proceeded to insult me, refused to accept the return and refused to deliver the display case I had already paid for. So now I have a messed up prep table that doesn't work (see pic) , never received the display case I paid for, and have a broken door (see pic). I had a man go in to talk to him thinking he would listen to a man. He was able to have a conversation but refused to honor our agreement. He even said I owed him an apology. Wow. As soon as I have time, I'm going to small claims court. DO NOT IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS!!! UPDATE: Please see his texts to me. (Images named screenshot #1,2, and 3) He's a real piece of work.

    US Foods CHEF'STORE

Whoa I had driven down this road many times but totally missed glances over here. Maybe I looked…read moreonce but thought it wasn't for the public. You see US Foods is one of the big wholesale food distributers that restaurants big and small use. They will deliver big loads of goods whether food or supplies right to the restaurant, usually on pay terms so no cash is handled. And for busy restaurants this is a must, as they constantly need raw goods coming in weekly if not daily. This is the first time I saw a 'US Foods' store. I think they took over something else. But it is a big store/space where almost everything is in bulk and/or wholesale form. For the home cook there is really nothing here that would fit their needs/kitchen unless you like to buy in bulk. 20 - 50 pound bags of beans, sugar or flour is usually just too much for an average Joe to carry to the car, let alone store in a home pantry. But if you like to entertain/cook for a large group like a big birthday, a bbq outing or big holiday get-togethers, then this place may serve you a purpose. I browsed one day and got a good feel for the place and here are my observations. If you go into the fresh produce area or the meat/dairy areas, you will have to go into a refrigerated room. The whole room is about 35 degrees so if you go in there in shorts and/or a t-shirt, then you will not be able to stay in there for too long. Produce not really extensive but you will be able to find some basics. Some things are in cases/big bags but not everything. Actually lots of things in smaller packaging like 2-3 pounds which is doable for a home fridge/usage. I'd say the offerings here are somewhat similar to what you could get at Costco. Meats are a mixed bag. Lots of processed meats like deli meat in whole form. Lots of cheese too but much too bulky for a home fridge. There are pork and beef but all in big/whole chunks. Nothing will be cut into steaks. Big packs too like minimum 10 pounds or more. But if you're cooking for a big group, you're gonna need a minimum of 10 pounds so this may be a draw for me. The bad is for the beef selection, even though the pricing did seem good, there is no 'choice' grade. They use 'select' grade here, which is a notch down from choice. But if you're just braising or slow cooking then this grade would be just fine. Costco only serves 'choice' grade or higher so theirs is more premium. Pork is fine here, I got some pork tenderloin in 2 packs, which is one of the smallest packages I saw, ideal for home usage. Good selection of restaurant ware. Pots, utensils and storage containers. This is a big draw for me as I love restaurant quality storage containers. They are sturdy, with tight lids and many are stackable. These are even hard to find at Costco and Smart and Final. On a weekday morning there is zero traffic here, complete opposite of Costco. Now this is more geared towards restaurants, but knowing if I can get something here or Costco, I will choose this, as the parking and ease to get in and out is an amazing asset to me. I was gonna give them 3 stars for not really being friendly for home usage but given those certain occasions where I'm cooking for 10 or more people, then this place will get a heavy consideration. And drum roll please******no membership card needed. Open to the public. **cymbal crash**

I like shopping here because the prices are pretty good and less crowded than other brand stores.read more

This is the best restaurant supply store in the bay area for home cooks for both selection and…read moreprice. 1) the home style cuisinart food processors have small motors. They aren't designed for making baby food, almond butter from almonds or grinding frozen meat into paste for making cha lua or hotdogs. Can smell the burning electric motor smell from home appliances. This smell is toxic and emits cancer causing chemicals. The commercial appliances here don't have that problem. Costs more but you have equipment which fits the task. 2) The home pizza ovens which are popular require peels to get the pizze in and out of the 800 degree oven. They sell both metal and wood versions. The pizza stones for home ovens are much cheaper here than Amazon because it costs more to ship heavy items and AMZN adjusts the price to reflect that even though shipping is "free". Prices better than online and you can see the quality of the product. They have both 16 and 12 inch sizes for peels, etc.. The newer lower cost electric/gas home pizza ovens are 12. They have bread baking pans and detroit pizza pans in stock! No need to go online to get them. The long handles for pizza peels make them unattractive for shipping. If they are shipped then price is 2x of what you see here. 3) Cutting boards, they have the fancy John Boos wood cutting board considered by many to be the best made to cheaper and lighter bamboo boards and poly ones. All come in larger sizes. Not the smaller sizes sold in costco. Much better variety here. Same comment as above for pizza stones. Cheaper than online because heavy items are expensive to ship. Will never get a sub $50 price for a large cutting board online but you can here. 4) Kitchen utensils, heat proof spatulas, long handled stainless steel soup spoons, slotted spoons; stainless steel serving tongs, thermometers, everthing 1/3 - 1/4 the cost of williams sonoma with more useful design like longer handles for deep stock pots. WS doesn't sell long handled spoons. spatulas, because most home cooks have cheaper small pots and skillets. 5) steamers, they have larger sized bamboo and stainless steel steamers for making dimsum. The Asian markets have a limited selection of steamers and WS or costco will never sell steamers. Designed for Asian cuisine. Steaming much healthier then other forms of cooking. 6) Glassware, they have the larger Picardie, 16oz+ in stock! They don't break. Most RS stores only sell cheaper imitations but they are the same price and the Picardie glasses here and lousy quality. 7) Plastic serverware; they sell larger dimension plastic serving platters; good for parties or home use. The larger ones made of porcelain are too heavy and difficult to store. They only go up to a certain size because of cost. Recently most serverware is more than 100-300 each because of inflation. They see reduced sales because of the increased prices and most places are transitioning to not carrying these higher cost items.

A friend of mine received a call today for an interview at Next Generation. Googling the name of…read morethe company and San Leandro came up with no hits. So, we googled the phone number they gave,(510) 483-2117, and surprisingly, the business directories all came up with "Terra Wholesale". Now, under Terra Wholesale, I see on yelp a few reviews and in Shannon G's review someone replied to her with this link: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/306/RipOff0306989.htm. That was very enlightening. So, we called the number and asked more directly about the position and their answer was vague and implied about 3 different positions related to "distribution" or "promotional marketing". Anyhow, after about 10 mins on google we found that it would've been a huge mistake and a colossal waste of time.

Um, Apparantly Susan A. 's review, which is actually just a review of her innadequate google…read moreresearch methods, is not a review for Terra wholesale at all. The ripoff report is for someone who went out on a training day and decided it wasn't for them. This is typical for this type of employment. This is for a self employed, commissioned sales position. I worked for a similiar gorrilla marketing company in the late 90's. The only relationship I have with Terra marketing is purchasing a few products from them. The salespeople are your modern day door to door salespeople, no more fuller brush men. The products are geared towards impulse buys and priced in the range of the average persons disposable income. The only problem I have had is one of the bluetooth devices I purchased has a faulty microphone, ( I will update my review when I see how they respond to my problem). While we're on the subject I sent a request into Yelp regarding a company I purchased trying to update the information through the proper channels. I have had better luck so far getting a response from Terra Wholesale than I have with yelp. Susan A.'s friend apparantly was not a good fit for the position so everybody saved some time. How can Yelp allow such a bogus review represent a company. Susan A. had no dealings whatsoever with Terra Wholesale yet Yelp is allowing them to be represented as a one star company. It is appearing more and more to me that Yelp is just an unregulated blog forum/ marketing company. Many of the reviews have no substance whatsoever. I have found yahoo local and google reviews to be much more responsive to insignificant reviews and will no longer pay much credence to the responses in Yelp.
