The folks at CRS hooked me up again with another True visual merchandiser. This is the latest and greatest model, which has more space for beverages and a really user-friendly temperature control right on the base of the unit. I'm delighted with this product, and I especially liked the nice touch of them setting up the shelves for me and putting the unit on casters. Great resource for the area, I like this place a lot. They have a great selection of typical stuff you only find in restaurant supply places, but the prices are not cheap. Some stuff I can find at Smart & Final for a better price with about the same quality, but some stuff you can only find at a place like this and so happy that I can go there every few months/3x a year and spend a few hundred bucks. read more

County Restaurant Supply is awesome. Kitchen cleaners that you didn't think existed or that no one else sold - Carbon Off, Puro Espresso Machine Descaler, and so on, rice cookers big enough to feed a stable of sumo wrestlers, Hobart mixers for that four tiered wedding cake you always wanted to bake... imagine the possibilities! The other thing: I am often surprised how many things they have here that an occasional home cook, would actually consider purchasing. While the Hobart isn't going on my wish list anytime soon, the espresso tamper, the 10 oz. milk frother, and the $13 Metalcraft pizza peel have been added and have come off that same list. I imagine future visits will lead to that list growing some more. read more

There are times when you want really nice cook ware and there are times when you want not so glamorous work horses. You can go to Williams Sonoma for the former and to CRS for the latter. I love large format bain marie, mega liter/quart containers, and other industrial sized materials for cooking. They've got all the wares, appliances, fume hoods, ranges..it's crazy. When you've cooked for 400 people you get an appreciation for these scales of things. Not that I need all of this for my house but sometimes you need to bridge the gap in cooking for yourself and a multitude of others. read more

Not a "Home Chef" store . . . baahhhh Maybe not a "Home Cook" store but a definite Chef Store. And if you own a Jail they have those food trays as well. Pizza peels, 18 burner stoves, Boos blocks, Jaccards, killer pannini presses and hot dog roller things. Paella Pans, killer stock pots. Just got a 22 qt. Optio with a thick 5/8" base for brewing beer and demi glace. Great price. Local brick and mortar store. I will always go local. Williams Sonoma, Draegers, Sur La Table . . . not feeling it. Just in the wallet. It is a bit of a purists store. Okay maybe you can't get a garlic squisher thing but you can get some MicroPlanes, way better. This place ROCKS.. They have stuff Bed Bath and Beyond don't have, stuff Williams Sonoma doesn't have, and their prices are reasonable. From cookwear to glassware, to serving utensils and otherwise, this is my go to spot. With everything that they have here, I can go home, pretend I'm on a cooking show, put stuff in little prep bowls, feel all professional-like. The service here is top notch and they even have industrial cooktops, ovens, stoves, griddles, etc. Everything you think a restaurant would need they have.. Including signage. Why the last star missing you ask? Hours are tough to make it to if you're a working man or woman. Not open on Saturdays either. I would LOVE to revise this to 5 stars.. As Kevin B noted in in his review about buying something small...seemed as if you're not looking in the commercial appliances section, you will be ignored...i was looking at Cambro containers but couldn't find lids....3 people passed...no hello...no acknowledgement...nothing....decided to leave as i'll spend money elsewhere like East Bay Restaurant Supply, Chef's Warehouse or Economy in SF. A good store with a decent selection, but, if you are buying for your home, be prepared for very bad service. I still shop here when I can not find what I need elsewhere, but, once again, this week I was giving them money, and the salesman actually rolled his eyes and grumbled when I was only buying a half dozen coffee mugs. More often than not, they act as though I am interrupting their day when I want to pay, and never once has anyone offered assistance. Oddly, their sister store on Laurel has excellent service. After a decade of shopping at restaurant supply stores in the bay area, I recommend looking elsewhere first. read more

Incredible stock and fantastic prices. As for the reviews below about not being friendly enough...this is a professional supply house. They are there to work primarily with professionals. That said, I am by no means a professional and I felt completely comfortable (as did my two kids who happen to be perusing with me that day). I never once felt that I wasn't welcomed. If you have an idea of what you are looking for or you don't mind exploring the stacks a bit, then this is the place for you. Who knew stockpots came in "human size" (as my 8-yr old put it). I really need to get back to this store. So a few year's ago we boarded our kids (dogs) nearby & upon leaving stumbled upon this place. Having recently been to the land down under where kettles are the requisite instead of coffee pots AND succumbing to that countries tea et al. Love flat white...well, we splurged & bought an instant kettle -- which is still going strong today. Now they're becoming a bit more popular but I just love me my kettle. Need to get back to them because while the kettle is going strong, there's so much more to my kitchen that needs to be percolated! :-) read more

This place is pretty cool... Sure sure.. I don't run a restaurant, I'm not a chef, sure.. I'm not even that great a cook..... ok fine... I just learned how to fry an egg a couple months ago... But I still can appreciate a place with lots of cool cooking stuff.... no.. I'm not talking about the gobs of foo foo stuff over at Williams Sonoma... I'm talking about the day to day stuff that I'll use. ... and some really cool stuff that you won't find at the foo places.... the the big 36" steamer that I bought here.... sure it's not cheap... but with a bottom, one level, and a top.. I can still throw 5 crabs in there at a time... and to think that I could add another level for even more goodness... that's alot of stuff. I don't get up here often... but it's nice knowing like this place isn't too far... and the staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful, despite the fact that they prolly deal with ton's of newbs like me... read more

Selection is decent & prices are generally good--comparable to Amazon. We weren't ignored like some other reviewers, but wish they had a better way of purchasing glassware. They have a small room with 1 of each glass they carry, but most things have to be ordered in and you have to buy a case of 36 (I was only looking for a dozen). No parking lot that I could tell. Parking on Cherry is rough due to the narrow street, so stick to Old County if you can. read more

This is definitely a restaurant supply store, not a home chef store. They do have stuff you need and won't find in other stores. I love the 3M stainless steel cleaner. I also like the Urnex coffee pot cleaner. They also have TONS of tools you can use for the home and lots of OXO stuff at a discount. Just check it out if you're around. I'm a home cook and this store is FANTASTIC. The occasions when I really need something specific for my kitchen this place has not disappointed. Just some of the items I've purchased: professional-grade baking pans, stainless steel scoops (variety of sizes), diner-style syrup dispensers, parchment paper, stainless professional citrus juicer, 24 ct. boxes melamine dinner and dessert plates. This place is no nonsense. When they are out of something I just ask and they've ordered it. So glad this store is close by. read more

Worst retail service I have ever experienced! I shopped for about 30 minutes, had 3 employees walk by and never say a word. Went to the counter with about $100 worth of merchandise and set it on the counter. I could hear a couple people in the office behind the register chatting away and one of them saw me standing there. I waited for about 5 minutes and no one came out to ring me up. I tried to get her attention but couldn't and ended up just walking out. Don't waste your time going to this poorly run store. read more

I have found each of the professional grade cake pans that I have looked for here, and they carry the brands that I prefer. Sometimes my toddler is with me, and no one pays him any mind (as long as he is in a cart). If you ask for help finding something you will get it, but as it is a professional supply shop, you are left alone in thoughts of cooking. read more

Nice place. I always love a restaurant supply store and it is impossible for me to leave one without buying a bunch of stuff. It has plenty of stuff, but I deduct one star for not being open on Saturdays. I'm not available to go here during the week, so that's why it's been on my list for years without every going to it. Well, I finally had a day off and was in the area so I finally got to check it out. It's not as big as my favorite restaurant supply store in Oakland, but it's good. It certainly would fulfill your needs, but I find Oakland easier to get to, and it's open on Saturdays, so doubt I will be coming back here ever again, but it was nice to check out. read more

Today I noticed they had a wide selection of baking pans, utensils, and other goodies. I was sooo excited. I recently started baking and I love it. These people know what the hell is going on. As a guy who "knows he knows less than he thinks he knows" about cooking and kitchen supplies I appreciate the depth of USEFUL knowledge. Stores like Sur La Table are great (and I shop there too), but the stuff they sell is often as much "decorative" as useful. The people at CRS have been in the trenches and will help you figure out what you really need. It's pretty much a B2B place, so you won't get Sur La Table service, but they have a HUGE selection of useful stuff. read more

County Restaurant Supply is Viagra for the kitchen! I am a decent cook. I prepare elegant, attractive meals regularly, however, it's often a struggle to please the demanding palates of my family - and the surplus of fabulous Bay Area Restaurants that are essentially my competition do not help the cause! I intermittently get bored or lose my creativity all together. One visit to County Restaurant Supply and I feel stimulated, challenged, not in the way that William Sonoma might inspire, but more of a back to basics style of invigoration. The store is very organized and functional. It is decidedly no-frills, but that is part of it's charm. The emphasis here is on developing culinary talent and expertise rather than opting for packaging. The store is packed with cooking supplies that I don't already own which encourage me to move into uncharted terrain! read more

Need a Sno-cone machine for your pad? How about some old-school cafeteria trays and molded wood-like snack bowls? Could you use a big, volume-gauged bain marie in Lexan to let some bread dough double in size? Come to County Supply, which has every restaurant and food service gizmo you could possibly want, at pretty reasonable prices. Who needs Sur la Table or Williams-Sonoma? I just picked up four gi-normous, real scallop shells so I can broil scallops and present them to the BF in a most professional manner, and they were cheap! I brine my chicken and pork before cooking, rendering them always moist and flavorful, and I found the perfect chicken-brining rig here--a 6 quart lexan tub with an airtight closure. I got one in two different sizes, one for the pork loin and one for the big roaster. Either would have been unavailable or an arm and a leg at the consumer shops. The fine folks at County Supply don't look askance at civilians either, they will write you up an invoice and take your cash just like you were Wolfgang Puck or Thomas Keller. read more

As mentioned, this is not a home chef store. That being said, they do have good prices on some things that a home chef might need. Tools that you wont find at a place like Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
