Summit Fence - 5' pear Top Aluminum W/Arched Gate.

Summit Fence

I recently had Summit Fence repair and replace a large section of our aluminum fencing after a huge…read moreoak tree came down and destroyed about 30% of it. We needed to swap out damaged panels and fully replace others for 70 feet of fencing, including one 4' wide single gate. The final result is a clean, professional install using the standard 4'H Aluminum Smooth Top - 3-Rail panel style, and it looks excellent. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Amanda was fantastic; she stayed in constant touch, gave clear information at every step, and kept everything wonderfully organized. She made what could have been a stressful project feel smooth and effortless. Carlos was equally impressive. He came out to personally determine the action plan and immediately gave me confidence that he would personally do a great job. He's extremely knowledgeable, listened carefully to what we needed, and followed through on everything he said he would do and then some! His crew worked efficiently and produced high-quality work. There are many fence companies out there, but Summit Fence was the only one that genuinely made me feel like they understood exactly what needed to happen and had the capability and care to do it properly. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again if we ever need something else. Thank you, Amanda, Carlos, and the whole crew for a job well done.

Jacob was on time to the appointment, friendly, and took his time assessing our needs. I was genuinely looking forward to working with them, but unfortunately, fate had other plans. Jacob was unable to get back to me in a timely manner due to personal reasons. In the meantime, I decided to sign with another company to complete the work I need on my property. I was disappointed that I hadn't heard back from Jacob, so I left a review here expressing that disappointment. Almost immediately upon submitting my review, the owner responded. A short time later, Jacob called to explain why he hadn't gotten back to me and apologized for having dropped the ball. While I cannot speak to the quality of their work because I did not end up hiring them, I am changing my review because I feel like the owner and Jacob reaching out despite already having lost me as a customer shows integrity and care that is lacking in many contractor businesses these days. I appreciate that they care, so it is only fair for my review to be updated to reflect that accordingly.

Our next door neighbor recently hired this company to install a fence. The first day I found…read moresomeone sleeping in their truck parked in the grass on our private property. I told him it was private property and asked him to move his truck and he was rude and talked back. When I got back from taking my son to the bus, he had only moved a few feet and was still parked on our property. Over the next several days he repeatedly parked in the grass on our private property and tore it all up after the heavy rain.

Given my experience already with them, I was sold. We do have a fence now, but installers left tire tracks through my front yard trying to get out of my driveway, and I'm still picking up their trash they left behind including soda cans, plastic tabs, and plastic nail holders. I've sent pics to the company, and there was not even an apology. Ray did have a crew come fix the gate that was left with a big gap. I did reply after that with pics of yard and fence gaps. Two weeks later, I was told fence gaps were normal. When I mentioned that the double gate wouldn't open, we went back and forth over 12 emails. I asked him to stop by at his convenience to check the gate. That was four days ago. I haven't heard from him since. My home is five minutes from the office. I appreciate the fence, but if I'm paying top dollar, I want a PERFECT fence. They did not provide. Did they build a fence? Yes! Did they build a highest-bid fence? No.

My child bought a new home this year and has a dog that ultimately kept getting out of the yard…read morewith the existing fence. Had Ergeon replace the fence (unfortunately thought wasn't the issue with the dog, that's a different story). Fence was finished in July. My child works 80 hours a week and hadn't been there when it was completed. I visited from out of town and noticed some quality issues. Uneven boards at the gate, poor quality hardware and a couple of boards that seemed poor quality. However, the biggest concern was that they didn't install any corner posts. Who does that? Anyone ever heard of a fence with no stable anchors in the corners? Come to find out they cut the previous corner posts off at ground level and were too lazy or inconvenienced to remove them. Built the new fence around them. I paid for the majority of the fence so I contacted their warranty company. I sent pictures. They scheduled a person to come out. There wasn't good communication about what action they would be taking. My husband and I took the day off work and planned to be there. They cancelled a 1/2 hour after they were scheduled to arrive. They rescheduled for two days later (a Sunday) and no showed and did not call. I also called that morning to confirm someone would show, got no response from my vm. I spoke with our warranty rep the following day and was told, "sorry, but I don't work on the weekends." That just irritated me. Poor customer service in my opinion. So the following week we communicated back and forth to reschedule. I was given today (9/26) as THE ONLY available date, even though I told Peta, our warranty rep, that I was unavailable and gave here 3 alternative dates. Yesterday at 5 pm she texted me and said that the installer was not available there was a death in their family. While I am sorry for their loss and empathetic, does Ergeon not have any one else? Peta asked me to give her until Monday to reschedule. I will do that but I am getting the feeling that I am getting delayed intentionally. I requested the name and number of the installer that gets scheduled so that I may confirm the day of the appointment (again I will be driving from out of town, an hour one way) and a supervisors name and number if they fail to show up. Peta told me she could not give that information. Shady? I think so. This will be a third appointment. If they cancel or no show, that will be the third strike. I hope they take care of this and make it right. I will update this post when they do. *update* Ergeon continued to delay, but did contact us to say a technician would be in the area that same day and could make the repairs. No notice and no one present to talk to the tech. I asked several time what direction the tech was given...no answer. He shows up and installs one corner post....that's it???? When I spoke with him after he called my daughter to say he was there (she didn't know anything about it). He had no idea what he was supposed to do other than install one post. I was pissed. (Remember no corner posts and there are 3 corners) Of course, I complained, I was told the next available date would be October 14th. Because they only have one person in the area that is working on the warranty issues. How is this my problem?

We live in an HOA with strict guidelines that they were happy to follow. I was not able to make it to the actual install, but Jamey took very good notes, provided the estimate with pictures and drawings. The install was exactly what we wanted. Despite their quote being approximately 25% higher than competitors, I felt confident that the quality of workmanship would justify the price. Unfortunately, my experience did not align with those expectations. The crew installed approximately 100 defective pickets along with several problematic posts. I was told their installers had significantly more experience than those at other companies, which made it all the more frustrating that such obvious defects weren't caught and avoided during installation. While they did return to replace the posts, I was left wondering why those materials were used in the first place. To make matters worse, a 6x6 post was also questioned -- some professionals claimed it was acceptable, others said it was clearly defective. FIRST FENCE did eventually replace it, but not without multiple visits and conversations. While the fence does look good now, the process was far more stressful than it should have been. One of the main reasons I hired a premium company like FIRST FENCE was to avoid the headache of micromanaging a project. Unfortunately, I ended up doing just that. EDIT: Less than a year since install and already having gate failure in a low traffic area. The company is trying to charge $300 to repair the fence. apparently a gate used 2x weekly is too much and the gate is for just looking at and not using.
