I was number 9 on the list, instantly irritated because why do we have an appointment? Just put the X-ray gown on me and took my X-rays. Put me in the room, didn't clip the towel over me just laid it on my chest and left. The doctor came in the room around 12:00 noon! It's only one doctor, one medical assistant and a front desk lady. No real structure or workflow. He came back into the room and started pulling my tooth, I told him to stop immediately because I could still feel the pain. He numb me again and again still was feeling the pain while he is tugging on my tooth not gentle enough but rough as if he had somewhere to be ! I told him he hurting. He said well you do have an infection on the tooth and it's going to be painful. I could put you to sleep for $250 like ummmm no if I have an infection why would you pull my tooth without me taking care of the infection first! Diabolical so I am crying from the pain. He like okay I'll send meds and we will resume next week! I was left in the room crying the medical assistant is like okay you can head to the front. As she is setting up the room for the next patient. He was so rough in my mouth just going for it instead of easing my way in. I advise the lady in the front about how rough he was she said did you tell him I said no. My mom asked her what is the next steps because she is the one who recommended me. I went in for emergency care because my dentist is Jewish and was worshiping but my wisdom tooth had me in agony. Turns out I had an infection (not cavity) near the bone because of how the tooth was growing ( in an "S" formation close to the root). At the time of the visit, I had taken nearly a bottle of Motrin and could not find relief. The reception and dental assistant were both very gentle and sweet, constantly checking on me while I waited. The wait wasn't ridiculous despite there being about 5 families/ groups ahead of me. After about 30 mins I saw the dr who was a young Jewish guy, very caring and warm. He took his time to look at the images. He explained because of how the tooth was growing they'd have to extract it but because of how it would affect my bite, they had to insert an implant at a later date. What I didn't expect was the projected bill of $11,000 despite having insurance. Baby! I would take that tooth out myself from the pain and that cost. I was flabbergasted. Like why? For transparency I am showing the bill. Thank God he prescribed me some pain medication to help me get through the night and the next morning I went right back to my dentist. Even the next day, his staff called several times to check up on me and see how I was doing. Again, 10 stars on the patient care. That price though is a straight hustle.

I was seeing a dentist in Manhattan that wasn't taking my dental problems seriously. I kept coming in and telling him I was in pain and filling wouldn't cut it. He was very whatever about the situation and told me, "He was the one with the degree." Yes, certainly -- but I'm the one with the mouth. I was upset and shopping around for dentist when my mum told me to come to Valley Stream and visit her dentist. I rolled my eyes and blew her off, but she insisted I come. I traveled two hours on a day off and met Dr.Aghabi. Immediately, she listened to all my concerns, checked my mouth and confirmed all of the issues I had been feeling. In fact, it was WAY worse than expected. I FELT VINDICATED. She helped me find a specialist within my network and explain the entire situation. Ever since then, I've been a true fan. I got my first set of dental issues set and was living my life -- eating chips, drinking gin, not flossing and BAM. One morning I bite down on the softest piece of bread, and I feel the most painful sensation of my LIFE. For about 4 days, I'm incapacitated. Just by the extreme pain, I know I need a serious root canal. I call up my mum, who sees if Dr. Aghabi can fit me in. At first she can't and once she hears the problem, she says she'll fit me in. I was sitting in Manhattan, practically crying. Being in pain for nearly a week, not being able to eat -- Dr. Aghabi fixed that right up. She literally saved my life. I'm so grateful.
