She was very nice, but I think it is time she retires. She is 92 years old. She hand sews everything and she just doesn't have the hand for it. She charged me for 4 items, 2 of which she didn't touch. She refused to let me try on at pick up and rushed me out of the door. She used blue thread on a white missoni top. She also ruined a $1000 pair of pants by putting a sloppy dart down the back. The pants look crazy. Maybe this used to be a great shop, but I think she no longer has the capacity to take clients. read more

Luda is amazing! I was on my way to catch a flight at LAX when I realized my travel backpack had a rip in it. I brought it in, and she wasn't busy, so she sewed it up in 10 minutes. One of my shorts had a rip in it too, so she also sewed it up in another 10 minutes. Both repairs done in 20 minutes on the spot for $5! Best deal in town! It all depends on if she's busy. She told me she moved from the Ukraine with her husband to LA. After her husband died, she continued the tailor shop, and has had it for 30 years. I'm all for supporting small business owners, but writing this to save others the trouble of wasting their time. I took a pair of cotton pants and one sweatshirt to get hemmed. My first red flag should have been that she refused to take in the pants (too wide in the hips) when I asked her to do so. I was short on time, so proceeded with the other alteration requests. When I received the clothes, both were horribly hand sewn / basted, as the owner did not use a sewing machine. The pants were hand sewn, and she did not even sew the back half of one of the legs. The sweatshirt was folded up and hand sewn with a single thread and looks like it will break at any moment. I unfortunately sent my house manager to pick up the items; otherwise, I would have not paid and tipped for the work sloppily done. Perhaps the owner had an 'off' day (based on glowing Yelp reviews), but I will not be returning. read more

My grandmothers dress that she's wearing to her grandson' upcoming wedding that needed to be altered is at this establishment along with her other items and they never mentioned they were closing or going out of business when she took the items. No one contacted her to come get her clothes so they're still there and now this business is closed and the phone is disconnected. I've recently need to let out some pants and get some holes fixed in sweaters and shirts because the COVID moths were busy in my closet. I brought several items to her for fixes, and nothing was ever over 10 bucks, and a dry cleaner would have dry-cleaned me out. Ms. Luda Korman owns and runs Nate the Tailor. I've used her services for a couple of years and waited on putting a review on her service becasue I wanted to see how consistent her work was. The Good: I've asked Luda to tailor some very expensive suits - Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Armani. She did a reasonably good job on complicated tasks, such as tailoing the fit of the coats ($24), shortening the length of the cuffs ($24), and hemming suit pants ($9-14). Most notable was that I brought a high-end sports coat that I purchased about 10 years ago and never wore it. I wanted her to alter the coat to look like modern-day styles. She did a great job on it! She also did a good job tailoring my other suits and dress pants. The Bad: I've been cautious of her work, because I've seen the other reviews on Yelp, where people have claimed that she has very sloppy work. I just experienced it myself. I brought in a new pair of royal blue Calvin Klein pants and wanted her to tailor it because the color of the pants was unusual (I didn't have the thread to tailor it myself). When I got the pants back today, I noticed that my royal blue pants was hemmed with black thread. It did not look good. When I asked Luda why she used black thread, she insisted that she used Navy Blue. And, then she proceeded to tell me that after a few uses and washes, no one could tell the difference. I was hoping that she was going to re-do the pants, but she grabbed me by the elbow and ushered me out the door saying that it would be Okay. I'm not too happy. The jury is still out as to whether or not I will trust her 100% with my work. In the future, I may have to tell her specific instructions on what I want done. This place is cash only. I bought a dress. Yes, me. If you know me personally, you know I'm allergic to anything 'frock-y'. But, I had to buy a damn dress; lo and behold it didn't fit right even though I took the measurements. Everyone started recommending tailors to me...it almost seem like I was some newb going to the track and betting on my first horse. I'm thinking you know what? The INTERNET has never let me down and it has this crazy, and kinda sick, way of baring the truth. Yelp brought me Nate the Tailor and hilarity ensues. There seems to be a trend with Nate and Miami because I go to her door and she's about to go to damn Miami. I am between a rock and a hard place; I start singing kumbayah with my dress, pleading for formal attire amnesty. In this thick Russian accent, she ushers me in. "You...Yesh. Open box and pull out dress!" I obey. "Go put on dress! I do not take check. Only money. 15 dollars!" I put on the dress and this tiny woman climbs up on a stool to measure me [I'm 5'8 so I know I had a good foot on her]. Then her hands started to move like lighting during a chiffon thunderstorm. I was pinned, poked and tugged. She stops down. "Take off dress. 1 hour. Get cash." I run out of there, get cash and by the time I get back, she is done. The work is flawless. She instructs me on how to keep it wrinkle free. She then smiles and the whole experience became old world charm bolstered by practical ingenuity. Westchester is amazing at times. On the surface it seems like nothing is there for passers through, but Nate the Tailor saved my event, didn't hurt my wallet and the cleaners she referred actually gave me excellent shopping tips for buying and maintaining jeans. If you have clothes that need some love, you need to come to Nate. She's been around for decades and I can see why. read more

Unfortunately this lady is losing her mind and I recommend taking your business somewhere more reliable. A week ago I would have given her a 5 star rating. Unfortunately she just charged me twice for the same work. She required I pay cash at drop off, which I did. Then when I picked up my clothes she said I have to pay because she did not write paid on my receipt. I explained that I had already paid her when I dropped off my clothes. I asked her to check her statements, books, whatever. She said she doesn't keep any books. I confirmed with my wife at home (who was with me when I dropped off the clothes) that I did in fact already pay. I went back in today hoping she had cooled off after our conversation the day before and we could find the record and clear everything up. Unfortunately she tried telling me I hadn't paid for my clothes. Even that I didn't pay yesterday when I picked them up. This was just crazy and I reminded her that I paid with a $100 bill. She remembered and in front of me wrote "paid" on her receipt stub. Incredible! Basically, I just got robbed by a sweet little old lady. It is not a life changing amount of money, but I will never bring my clothes there again. read more

AMAZING!!! tiny little russian woman, reminds me of a grandma, does wonders!! my family has been going to this business for years! i needed a new zipper put on my jacket. I went to another tailor on Motor and Palms: "Cut To Fit Tailors" and the lady wanted to charge me $40 and suggested I get a new jacket! I love my jacket so that wasn't going to happen. (she wanted to charge me alot so she wouldn't have to do it. I wouldn't take anything to this place!) I remembered Nate the Tailor in Westchester. I took my jacket in and she said she can do anything! All I had to do was get my zipper and she would take care of the rest! I left my jacket for five days. I need more than 5 STARS for this place. The woman (I have no idea who Nate is) who did the tailoring was very detailed. She was a little hard to understand at first because of a heavy accent (Russian?). At one point, she slapped me on the butt and I think said to me "you go change now!" Or maybe it was "Your ass is as big as a cow." Again so hard to understand with the accent! HA! I asked for my jeans to be done on Tuesday (it was Friday when I went in). She told me she didn't know if she could get it done because she was very busy. I pleaded a bit and asked if I could pay more for the jeans to be ready by Tuesday. She wouldn't commit, but told me that she would call me IF she could do it by Tuesday. OK, fine. I left praying that they would be done. I needed them for Vegas! In less than 2 hours my cell rang and I heard, "You come pick pants now. Ready!" Whhhaaattt??? I ran back to the shop and sure as shit they were ready! Tried them on and they were perfect! Two pairs of jeans hemmed was $18. Cha-cha-cheap! I gave her double for the express service. I think that's when she finally smiled at me. Yea, I know how to win people over. :) read more

Whenever I'm in Westchester and need some alterations done, I'll stop by Nate. Luda is a wonderful lady who has demonstrated consistency in her work. As another reviewer said, she does like to cut the corners occasionally but that's only been on certain pieces from my experiences. If you have bottoms and shirts that need some alterations, go to Nate. If you have a jacket that needs some fixing, well, get ready to hear about every reason why you shouldn't get that jacket tailored. That's what she does, but it doesn't take away from the fact that what she can do is impeccable. Also, she'll almost always have your clothes ready the next day. There's also the occasion where she can offer to do it on the spot if you're not in a hurry and the alteration is really simple, she's not swamped with other work, etc. She doesn't have the keenest eye when it comes to modern styles (this is coming from someone who likes slim, borderline very slim, fitting clothes), but she is still able to do all of the work associated with it. Do not go here. This lady is just mean. I brought in a dress to be tailored and she told me it wouldn't zip because I was "a little bit fat", when I explained that it would zip, to just please try and alter the straps, she told me she would do it but this dress was not for me because I am too fat, and that the dress is better for skinny girls. (I'm 120 lbs). She kept repeating over and over that I was too fat for the dress, so I left. Another yelper mentioned she does what she wants and not what you want - this is also true. I had been in a couple of other times before she straight up insulted me, and she argues with you about what she THINKS should be done, not what you want. read more

Well the first time I went I was pleased with her hemming my long dress, so I decided to take another dress to hem, Unfortunately Luda the one who hemmed my second dress did such an awful hem job, looked like a beginner in sewing did it. So I hate to be the naysayer here but her work was SO BAD that I honestly feel it is my obligation to others who might make the same mistake I did and go to Nate the Tailor. So I'll give a very detailed review but the worst piece was a pair of pants that she hemmed. The hem was literally sewn with the fabric overlapping! I will post a photo if I can. It is so shockingly bad that I think if I didn't have a photo to prove it, you wouldn't believe me. The work, as Rod L says, is sloppy and unprofessional (at best) and completely unacceptable at worst. The fabric was not cut straight, the sewing was not done straight, the pant lengths on 3 of the 5 pairs of pants I took to her were uneven (one side longer than the other) and the thread on one pair of pants did not match. To be fair, out of the 5 pairs of pants, there was one pair of pants (corduroys) that were done fine with no problems. So I'm lazy enough that even though her work was sloppy, I wouldn't be inclined to Yelp about it except that she COMPLETELY BUTCHERED MY BRAND NEW DRESS PANTS! BUTCHERED!! The pants legs are uneven lengths, the new cuff is uneven in length (one cuff is fatter than the other), and the fabric is literally sewn together overlapped. I can't understand how she would even give that back to me the way it was. I may have had her fix it if the rest of her work was good but even the "good" stuff was bad so I think I'm going to have to find someone else. read more

I went in yesterday to take my pants for a same day pickup. She said no worries, she will get it done and call me for pickup. I own a business and have to plan most things so when I asked a time for a pick up she said no worries she will call. Well she called a few hours later which I was happy about but I was in the middle so something so I figured I'll go pick them up when I'm available. Well, the shop was closed an hour before it was supposed to be. I thought no big deal I'll get them in the morning before my flight. I missed a call at 8am because I was on a call, it's 10am and the shop is not open. Now I have to find something else to wear to my work conference. I just think this is totally u professional, she didn't leave a message or anything saying she was leaving or when she wa coming back and the phone just rings. I don't care how long they've been around, that's just not professional at all and a waste of my time and now money. read more

I've been using Nate for years, but she's really only good for down and dirty type stuff like hems on jeans, slacks, etc. Sure, she's capable of way more but she's kinda got a chip on her shoulder and it always seems like she doesn't want the work. Wow took my suit pants in because the seam was undone along the right pocket (probably because I tend to overstuff my pockets) and there was a 2 inch hole down the side of my pants. Luda took a look at it and said "that's it?...wait here", then proceeded to take the next few minutes to sew it up. She came back and pointed out another hole she found on the inside of the pocket which she sewed up as well. The cost? A DOLLAR! Not bad to get my suit pants like new for less than 5 min of my day and $1 of my hard earned money. Added plus - bagels next door. read more

I came to Nate the Tailor this past week to get the hem of a long formal dress taken up. It was short notice, as I brought the dress in on a Tuesday and needed it by Thursday. Even so, she was still able to get the dress done in time and the length was perfect. It hit my feet exactly where she measured it to, and I was extremely pleased with the results. I really hate to be the only person to give just a so-so recommendation, but I've been here twice and both times my clothes just did not turn out as professional as they should have. The first was a pair of jeans whose waist needed to be taken in a couple inches. She did a great job of making it look seamless at the waistline, however the stitching going down the back of the pants was lopsided and wavy. The second visit was a blazer whose sleeves needed to be lengthened a bit. While they look great front on, upon closer examination the fabric is bunched where she sewed both sleeves back up. All in all, she's very nice and is competitively priced. However I feel there are other places who have done a better job for the same price. read more

This woman is a rude hack. She ruined several pairs of expensive dress slacks that needed to be let out in the waist. Terrible attitude, insisting she knows best despite my objections. The first day I wore one of the pants she altered it split down the seam of the seat.....while I was at work..... Looking at the work closely it is very sloppy - not straight, small rips where the original seam was. Not the work of someone who cares. One day I arrived unknowingly a few minutes before her closing with a simple task. She told me to come back another time. Yeah, right..... Update - it's much worse than I thought. 4 more pairs of expensive slacks I thought were defective because the belt loops came off had actually been altered by this hack. When I returned them to place of purchase they pointed out the horrible alteration work and I connected the dots. When the loops fell off the un-dyed fabric underneath was exposed with no means of repair. This woman destroyed well over $2000 of clothes. I've never experienced such incompetence and complete lack of regard. read more

This review is for the honesty of the tailor. My fiancé had his pants hemmed at Nordstrom. Since we didn't purchase the slacks at Nordstrom, they would only do the hem. The slacks still felt a little loose in the thigh area. My fiancé was concerned that it would look too baggy i the for our upcoming wedding. He called and asked how long the alteration could take and was told that they can certainly do the work within 1-2 days, depending on what we need to get done. He drove down right away and put on the suit for the tailor. She took a look at it said it was perfect! No work needs to be done. She told him that if it was taken in, it would be too tight to sit and dance in. We both appreciate her honesty. That's something you don't see anymore, merchants are always trying to sell you something the you don't need. She did chit chat with him, but it was great information. That shop has been around for over 30 years and all the cabinetry was built by the previous owner and she left things as is when she purchased it from him. I do not recommend her to anyone. So if you don't want your clothes to be messed up by her or wasting the money you have earned so hard to buy clothes you like, you need to stay away from her. Her job is sloppy and unprofessional like the other two reviews said. I bought four pairs of new Jeans and each cost around $50. I spent a total of $200 on these jeans. I wanted her to cut them short, and I even brought my old jeans for her to measure. I would like her to cut exactly that length for me. She said ok I know and don't worry about it. On the day I went to pick up my jeans, she gave me my jeans and just tried to rush me out of her shop. I didn't even got a chance to take a good look at them. One of my jeans turned out to be 2 inches shorter than what I wanted. The other one after one wore were tore up where she has cut them. The other two were not evenly cut and looked really messy and unprofessional. I wonder why she still in the business as of today. I believe that when you decided to open up a business, you should do a good job. If you cannot do a good job then you shouldn't do business at all. I feel very angry and frustrated right now, and I don't want anyone else will have the same feeling as me, and that's why I decided to write this review. Hope this will help all of you. read more
