We ordered the schnitzel (absolutely delightful - still thinking about it months later!) and yummy sausages and a side of spaetzle. Drank a few very thirst quenching German beers. The wait staff was great -- attentive but not overbearing-- and while it's unlikely we'll be in Frankfurt again, we would definitely visit Klosterhof again if possible.

They're trying to stick to the monastery beer vibe but it doesn't hit the mark in that regard. The old place was cozy and old and felt authentic, this place is new, loud and generic. Maybe it's not so bad and I'm sore because I miss the old place but it just doesn't feel the same. Service was good, food was good, beer cold but it still feels like every other place out there. Probably won't be back, unfortunately. If you like well lit, upscale, generic restaurants try this one out. The food is good but the ambience is off.

Yet, only a 15 minute walk from our hotel in the financial district. Service was friendly. There was a bit of a wait for our dinners-- maybe about 40 minutes or so. But, either order appetizers or just order your beers and relax! I ordered the Schweinshaxe, my second in Germany, which was served with saurkraut. It was big enough to serve 2-3 adults! My companions ordered sautéed sole and wiener schnitzel. We also ordered sides of spinach, roasted potatoes, and spätzle (noodles). Everything was excellent, especially the schnitzel and roasted potatoes. We were too stuffed for dessert and were glad to have a bit of a walk back to our hotel. Highly recommend if you are visiting Frankfurt.

The food served is rustic German, with a particular focus on Hessian specialities such as Grüne Sosse (a fresh sauce made from a number of herbs and sour cream), Rippchen (boiled ribs) and Bratkartoffeln (sautéd potatoes). The rustic aspect comes across not only in the tasty type of food served but also the portion sizes, which are absolutely enormous. The menu is extensive, with all sorts of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, as well as salads and lots of desserts. You should definitely order a jug of local apple cider to accompany your meal. Also make sure to visit the Lahmer Esel in summer, so that you can take full advantage of the wonderful beer garden at the back, which is particularly suited to families with children. Service is usually very quick and prices are very reasonable. Easy to reach by public transport (take the U3 to Niederursel) or by car. Altogether, a wonderful place!

We had a party of seven and she sat us down at two different tables initially. A very nice local couple (complete opposite attitude of the waitress) who was seated in a booth that fit our party, volunteered their table to us and switched to one of our tables. Very nice and considerate. As a token of our gratitude, I asked this waitress if I could buy this couple a round of beers. Her response was "why do you need to do this, they have beers already?". Classic. This waitress was having no part of nonesense, indecision, or questions. It actually became fun to hear her comments and reaction. Food filled a void but nothing special and would no return for it. To top off the dining experience, we asked if we could split the check and pay with two cards. She said this was not possible. The mushroom cream sauce was a nice complement to the fried meat. For 21.50 EUR, this was a decent deal. The staff are friendly and fairly attentive. The service speed is fine. The restaurant is decorated in a traditional German pub style, with bar seating and also plenty of normal table seating. I was able to find an open table for weekend lunch with no wait. Overall, if you are looking for a classic German beer or food experience, then Zum Bitburger would be a great option.
