There seems to be no limit to the incompetence of the Aspen Dental office in Antioch. My experience…read morewas astonishingly frustrating, and I strongly recommend avoiding this location. I was a first-time patient when I came in for a tooth extraction. Before the procedure, I was subjected to relentless attempts to upsell me on additional treatment until I firmly stated that I wanted only the extraction. At the time, I had active Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage and paid my approximately $200 copay in full. Two months later, Aspen sent me a text message notifying me that I owed approximately $1,500. When I called, they claimed my insurance had "termed." I knew this was false, so I contacted BCBS. The rep confirmed I had active coverage on the date of service and called Aspen directly. During that call, BCBS determined that Aspen had submitted the claim using the wrong Tax ID because the dentist who treated me was a temporary provider. BCBS explained to Aspen how to correct the claim. I assumed the matter was resolved. Two months later, Aspen sent me another text that I owed the same $1,500. I contacted the office and was again told I had no insurance on the date of service. An employee escalated the matter to the office manager, who (get this) then claimed BCBS had told Aspen that I was uninsured. This was a blatant lie and directly contradicted what BCBS had told both me and Aspen in the call. I explained this, but was nonetheless told I needed to call BCBS again. The employee abruptly hung up on me. I called BCBS a second time. Once again, they confirmed my coverage and, while I was on the phone, called Aspen directly. Déjà vu: Aspen had again submitted the claim with the wrong Tax ID. The BCBS representative once again explained to the office manager that the problem resulted from the temporary dentist and how to correct it. The office manager was curt and rude and seemed confused about the basic billing issue, as if it were her first day on the job. She did not apologize or take responsibility and I'm not sure she even comprehended what she was told. As of today, Aspen's portal still shows that I owe approximately $1,500, despite BCBS twice confirming my coverage and twice contacting Aspen directly to explain the error. I should not have to spend hours repeatedly correcting a billing mistake that Aspen made, nor should I have to argue with them about whether I had insurance when my insurer has repeatedly confirmed that I did. The billing incompetence is bad enough; the dismissive and hostile treatment made it substantially worse. Based on this experience, I would not trust this office with either my dental care or billing. Avoid it like the plague.

The ladies are so charming and intelligent, attentive and take great care in the details of their job. They make you as comfortable as possible, I can say having a deep cavity drilled, learning I'd lost a molar, and getting a cap fit was Pleasant. They even let you pick your big screen TV viewing channels. She is helping me face a health related decay issue I haven't been able to discuss with another dental professional prior to this appointment.. without feeling judged. I'm shy around dentists, besides having serious decay issues not related to neglect but medication I must take which leeches calcium and decays teeth, I've become tired of the typical dentist who looks "under the hood", writes an estimate(completely overwhelming me with Every cavity), tells me which teeth, not tooth, we are to start on without involving my input, and without taking a breath begins in on the heavy financial questions and usual pressures to get "more work done for less". It had become much like buying a used car...until I met Dr Mindy and her associates. They even called a few hours after my first appointment to see if I was doing okay. I really Like those people, and, they are skilled, conscientious workers as well!

I usually don't write reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had…read more This was my first-ever dental appointment. I grew up with parents who believed, "If it's not broken, don't fix it," so I was never taken to the dentist because I never had a toothache or any obvious dental problems. As a young adult in my early twenties, I decided to take responsibility for my health and be proactive about my dental care. The dentist knew from the beginning that this was my first dental appointment. During my first visit, she told me I needed to schedule another appointment for a cleaning and fillings. When I asked for more information, I was told that the hygienist would explain things during the cleaning. I then scheduled the recommended appointments. The dental assistant was kind and acknowledged that they often see patients who have had dental work before. The hygienist was also patient and explained her part clearly. Unfortunately, I did not receive that same level of communication from the dentist. She did my procedure in a hurry. Before the procedure, I asked questions because I genuinely did not understand what fillings involved. Instead of explaining the procedure, the dentist seemed surprised or irritated by my questions. I was left to figure out what was happening as the procedure went along. For example, I did not know that getting a filling involved removing the decayed portion of the tooth. I also did not know that my teeth and gums would be numbed. These things may seem obvious to a dental professional, but they were not obvious to someone who had never been to a dentist before and has never experienced a toothache or other dental symptoms. At one point, I asked about what fillings are, and the explanation I received was essentially that a white substance would be added. During the procedure, the dentist even mentioned that they usually take pictures when patients ask a lot of questions or are surprised to learn they have cavities. I would have preferred for her to simply explain what was happening to me instead of making me feel as though I should have already known. I also had to stop the procedure briefly to ask how many fillings I was getting. I was given a very brief response, but I still did not understand where the fillings were being placed or what exactly was being done. I believe it is the dentist's responsibility to explain the procedure, including where the fillings are being placed and what the patient should expect before the procedure, rather than leaving the patient to piece everything together. The filling appointment also felt very rushed. Afterward, the dentist asked how my teeth felt but did not wait for me to answer. When I tried to ask a question, she referred me to another staff member and said she needed to go to another room. I was especially concerned because this was my first-ever dental procedure, and the dentist knew that. I needed clear explanations, but instead, I felt rushed and uninformed. I felt like I had to search for information myself rather than being properly educated about my own treatment. The surface of the fillings also feels rough. I've been told that's not normal. This was not addressed because I was not given an opportunity to discuss how my teeth felt afterward. I was scheduled to have three additional filling appointments, but after this experience, I do not feel comfortable returning. I was so sad about the experience that I cried afterward. I understand that some of these procedures may be routine for dental professionals, but they were completely new to me. Patients who are having their first dental procedure deserve to know what to expect. All patients deserve to know what to expect. And at the very least, a few minutes afterward to hear them and to make sure they got the right results. The surface of my fillings feels rough. I just pray my teeth would be ok.

My last experience wasn't the best, but it was immediately made memorable by Deaundrea, the dental hygienist that assisted me. When I arrived to check in the front desk clerk handed me paperwork to fill out. Well, I was just in two weeks ago and filled out the same paperwork. I work in a profession that has taught me that this paperwork is to be updated annually. I then get to the treatment room and my Dental Hygienist made mention of what I was in for that day. However, she failed to mention my fillings. After asking about that treatment she informed me that it had not been scheduled. Now, mind to during my last visit, I had an extensive conversation with my that dental hygienist and a front desk clerk - rewrote the treatment plan to provide me with a ballpark number of what I would be paying. Very upsetting. DeAundrea (lord, I hope this is her name) went out of her way to make sure she diffused the situation. She was extremely apologetic, very empathetic and went above and beyond her call of duty!

I'm pretty on top of my dental hygiene, and they always managed to find a cavity or something wrong with a previous filling they had done. They were the type of office that I felt like would purposely do a filling semi-wrong so they could guarantee another visit from me. Additionally, I was often seen well past my appointment time and by the end of every visit I had a bill. I'm switching dentists because I do not feel like Cane Ridge Dentist has the patient in mind. I think they value money over quality of service.
