I do appreciate the touches of tea kettles and tea in the lounge area that are complimentary. They also have snacks and other things if you are there longer. Remedy is such a sweet serene spot right in the university area that you'd kinda forget where you are because it's so peaceful while experiencing it, and that's why I can't recommend Emily and Remedy enough.

This is standard practice at any SPA, no matter what part of the world you are in. Doesn't matter if you are at the Ritz, Woldorf Astoria, Four Seasons, or a resort in Europe, Asia, or South America. When you go to a spa, you automatically have access to all the spa's amenities. This includes tubs and saunas. There are no spa amenities here. If you are paying premium prices, you would expect a premium experience. Keep looking because you are not going to get that at Betty's Day Spa. To make matters worse, their customer service is horrendous! One would think that, if there is a medical emergency, they would allow you to at the very least reschedule your services. They do not. Thank goodness I do not live here and can go back to my normal masseuse next week.

I climb a lot of ladders, and for the first time in several years I now have enough flexibility in my right hip to let me climb and descend symmetrically instead of like a gimp. Even my chiropractor was impressed. That's incredible! I am going to add the cupping next time. I believe you can also get a milk toast type massage, but I appreciate a deep massage for my high mileage body. I work hard and do a fair amount of heavy lifting, so my muscles are need serious help. As a new student, Tania displayed her knowledge in what she has learned thus far in this profession - she was gentle in washing my hair and offering advice on an Aveda product to help with the yellowing of my gray hair, to attention to detail in cutting my hair, which is very thick. Particularly, cutting my bangs, which she had never done before. With the assistance of her instructor, she did a good job. This was a hands-on learning opportunity for Tania. Kudos to Tania.

I tried going to a less expensive place to get a cut and they mangled it even further and still did not remove all of the broken ends, so it was continuing to get shorter. I decided to look up who was one of the best in the area and, even though this salon is over 40 min from my house, I'm SO glad I did! It was worth every penny and driving time. I walked in afraid to touch my hair it was so fragile, hiding what used to be fairly long hair by pulling it gently back and just generally not prepared to meet the world at a time that I very much need to look polished. I told him to cut off all of the fried things and then see what style he could create out of it. He is a true artist and very meticulous. He had a vision right away of a modern style that would work and look fantastic. He took the time to truly sculpt my hair. As a fellow artist, I appreciated his attention to detail and creative eye. So much hair had to be removed but I trusted him, I could just tell that he knew what he was doing. I left LOVING my new, modern cut and still love it. Even though the cut was already a huge investment for my grad student budget, I also purchased the tool he used, the Enzo Milano ...not sure what to call it...brush iron? It seems to also have been a good investment, high quality and makes it possible to get close to the same style as Tony did. Being new to the area, I feel like I found my hairdresser. Of all of the things you need to re-find when you move, that's an important one. Check.

Recently I had gotten a really bad pixie with undercut haircut at Great Clips (see photos). It was so bad that I thought I would have to shave my whole head. I called Roberto and was able to get a same-day appointment. He did a phenomenal job fixing the mess. He's very gifted in texturizing hair and blending it in for a smooth flow. My hair immediately felt lighter and looked way better after his corrections (see photos). I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting an expert haircut. Go even if you haven't gone for a while or just going for the first time. He'll treat your hair right!

I have a lot of volume and wavy/curly hair that has changed texture with pregnancy. She thinned it out some, cut it wonderfully, and I feel so much lighter! I never want to wash my hair after getting it cut because I don't put the effort into drying this mane of mine, but I suppose day 3 of a cut and wash I should probably go ahead and wash it myself. First, this used to be an Aveda salon, but that's no longer the case. (As a Minnesota native who grew up with the Aveda brand, I'll note I'm a big fan, and I never buy their product anymore, it's super pricey and I can make my own organic pomade, thanks very much.) They're carrying a new product line and I'm betting that'll save you plenty; our kid's cut was $25, just perfect, and well worth it. Second, great customer service. We called and had an appointment with one of their more experienced stylists less than two hours later; they were friendly at the front desk, accommodating -- they let her grandmother watch the entire cut, nerve wracking? nah! -- and we all complimented the final look.
