This doctor (?) could never have graduated medical school. Having left me passed out on the recovery room floor, post hemroidectomy surgery 4 years ago; and remarking to my panicking wife " he's fine just take him home, it's the anesthesia; and we "got the job done in a record 20 minutes, you should be happy". Did he walk across the recovery room floor to check my vitals? No. He turned and went home before any kind of diagnosis had been made, except that my blood pressure was dropping precipitously. I was admitted immediately, with my hemoglobin count dropping like a rock (any google will tell you there is massive gastrointestinal blood loss. with a hemoglobin count near 7, when normal would be 13.6). Still, no Napoliello around to check on why his patient is going south.
The hospital staff (Cape Surgery/SMH in Sarasota) finally concluded that Napoliello had cut a blood vessel on the "outside" of my colon, and all that blood from my normal vascular system was dumping out into my abdominal cavity. Another few minutes, had the cut blood vessel not clotted on its' own, I would not be writing this account. Yet the doctor gets to brag "I did it in 20 minutes, take him home and he'll be fine. It's all about volume now, how many procedures can I get done today so that I can enjoy that boat you see me tying to the dock.
