I got the "combination" because when you want a Cape Breton Classic "Combination", you have to get Napoli. Every bite is a little piece of heaven. The servers were a solid mediocre. No impoliteness but nothing memorable. But who cares because the pizza is awesome with a capital A! As for ambiance, the Sydney location is not really a dine in spot. This place wasn't off to a good start right from the time I entered the foyer. After looking at the menu, most pizzerias have their promotions posted somewhere visible, but this place doesn't. I asked the girl behind the plastic barrier if they had any promotions, to which she replied "yes." I was baffled that I had to further ask if she could tell me them, wondering if I have to have the key to the secret crypt to gain access? She then tells me what I assume was the promotions, but due to the unfortunate language barrier, I had no idea what she told me. I politely tried a different way of asking...this is what I'd like to order, is there a deal on this? "No." Okay, moving on I guess. It's unfortunate the promotions aren't posted for all to see. I paid and asked for a receipt. She told me to return in 15-20 minutes. I asked again for my receipt. I was told again to return in 15-20 minutes. I said "I guess I don't get a receipt", she looked and asked for my name. After this interaction, let's go with "Bob" for my order. I've had Napoli over the years but it's on the decline between both quality and service. The pizza tonight was very thin and very chewy and didn't leave me wanting for more. I had to get a spoon to scoop out the garlic sauce for the garlic fingers because it was so think and glue-like. We got back to Sydney late after having traversed the Skyline Trail 2 1/2 hours away, & decided to grab a pepperoni pizza & eat in our hotel room. Didn't expect NY- or New Haven-style pizza, but the pizza was quite fine & hit the spot. Being open later than most eateries was also a plus. read more

My favorite pizza since I was a child. Whenever I visit Sydney, it's a top priority to stop here, even if just for a slice. There's obviously a huge nostalgia factor, but that wouldn't be enough for me to give the place 5 stars unless it still tasted as good as it did 30+ years ago. I usually get the combination, but the veggie and deluxe are also amazing. I want to try other types of pizza but love these so much that I can't seem to break away. lol The crust is chewy, the pieces of green pepper are huge, the cheese is heavy. Subpar food.. nothing special but not bad by any means. One of the better pizzas around now a days as everybody else is inconsistent. Weird hours at the sydney river location. Often stop in when it's posted open but doors locked and nobody around, and open on days it's supposed to be closed. read more

First, Napoli has been in the same location for over 40 years! Think about how many pizza places have come and gone in that time. There's a reason, the pizza is delicious! We ordered the 10" pepperoni and were not disappointed. We're from the US and we're use to a pepperoni with a different texture and flavor. I like the US flavor better but I really like that this variety is a lot less greasy and doesn't fill you up the same way. I would recommend this to anyone, it's a classic pizza place. What happened to Napoli?? Was always one of greatest . Not anymore, I should have known when I called and he told me it would be ready in 15 mins . I ordered a lg super deluxe and a small pep cheese , pizza was extremely undercooked . Couldn't even pick up a slice and it tasted awful. As for the pep and cheese I was better off walking over to Kenny's and getting a slice, I would have gotten more Pizza for half the price , the pizza was all crust but hey at least it was cooked . read more

When you pay $15.95 for a medium pizza, it would be nice if it didn't come apparently reheated (at best). We ordered to pick up, arrived right on the 15 minute mark, and yet it was already apparently boxed and set aside. How then is it completely cold when we get it home (5-7 minutes away) if it was just freshly made and out of the oven? When you pay for fresh you should not be getting the stuff set aside for walker-by slices. 2 stars only because I've had fresh pizza there many times before. I'll never order from Napoli's again. If I wanted it cold or reheated, I can buy a slice at a gas station. Feel ripped off. read more

Greedy at best. Pizza slices get smaller every time I go there. The guy that owns it always grabs a smaller piece if you ask for it to be wrapped. When you get home, it;s surprise surprise. Decided to cheat and order everything I never get to eat. Donair, pizza (chicken, pineapple and banana peppers), mozza sticks, wings, and onion rings. Pizza doesn't have pineapple on it and comes in a box that only opens from the side and you have to slide it out or tear it open, no ketchup for the onion rings and the donair is clearly cut with a knife from a block on donair. Ok so Napoli is HANDS DOWN the best pizza in Nova Scotia, and to the person who says "haven't been to Halifax" I live in Halifax, and I've been to three continents so far this year. When I go to Cape Breton, first thing I do that night is order one up, and on the way home I grab three more, one for me, and the other two for two other capers I know. I don't know anything about the pasta or the so called "meat" sauce someone didn't like, I go there for pizza, as far as I knew they didn't even have a menu :). I've had pizza famous in NYC not even come close. As for the Grey haired guy who was rude, get over it, this is a third generation pizzeria, you are acting like it's a Halifax here today gone tomorrow garbage pizza joint. Yeah Halifax knows pizza, pizza girls is horrid, KOD is like playing Russian roulette with your intestines and Martha's 2 is like cardboard and costs twice as much as it should. I've been trying to find a pizza as good as this in Halifax, believe me it doesn't exist. read more

If not for the address and photo posted, I would honestly wonder if the other reviewers and I are eating at the same Napoli Pizzeria. We ordered a three different varieties of pizza and a spaghetti and meatballs. Only the spaghetti and meatballs was any good.. All three pizzas were rubbery. Thin, tough, rubbery bottom crust and a good 3/4cm of cheap, rubbery, completely solidified pizza mozzarella does not a palatable pizza make. On the upside, there was a decent amount of pineapple on the Hawaiian, but that's the only upside. Additionally, they didn't even cut through the pizzas, ANY of them- the crust was obviously too tough, as you could see attempts to cut in places. And they forgot the spaghetti when delivering and had to come back a second time. Try it for yourself, but take the rave reviews with a grain of salt. I personally will never be going back to Napoli. read more

After being out of province for five years, I was looking forward to a Napoli combination pizza when I arrived home in Sydney. Unfortunately, the pizza I got was a poor imitation of the great pizza that Napoli used to make. The pepperoni, cheese and other toppings didn't taste fresh and by the time I got the pizza home -- a 7 minute drive -- the pizza was a little cooler than lukewarm. The next morning (I always save a slice or two for breakfast and eat it cold) the pizza still didn't taste like a Napoli pizza should. Overall I was disappointed with the "new" Napoli pizza. Even at its worst, though, Napoli pizza is still better than Kenny's pizza. read more
