Recently we were raided, investigated and later indicted by the federal government. We called BoardroomPR for assistance in crisis PR. One of the leaders in the company, Don Silver, consulted with us. He assured us that he would do everything to help us through this. He made us feel safe, and after looking at 4 other companies, we went with BoardroomPR and paid them $5000--a ton of money for our small business. The day of the indictment, Don constructed a 1-paragraph response to the charges brought by the US State's Attorney. We posted this on our Facebook page. Our name was dragged through the press and there was no response or help from from BoardroomPR; no one followed up beyond the one paragraph response. Below is a list of items Don Silver promised us. Other than a portion of #7, we have received none of these services. Once the indictment happened and we realized we would not be getting the services promised, we asked for our money back minus the time it took to write the paragraph for our Facebook page. Don Silver refused and said that we are not his client, that our attorney is the client. In my business, I do everything I can to make things right for those who feel they did not receive adequate services. In fact, we have refunded thousands of dollars to our customers because of this indictment. Unfortunately, BoardroomPR promised us the services below, took our money, failed to deliver on their promises, and then refused to refund our money. BoardroomPR represents large law firms. Perhaps we were treated this way because we are a small business and not a large firm. If you are a small business looking for help during a scary and debilitating time, I would not recommend BoardroomPR. 1. Meet with legal counsel and the client to learn as much about the allegations as possible, and at the same time, get schooled on the legal strategy and potential weak points of the U.S. Attorney's office. 2. Try to understand the sequence of expected events and processes. 3. Learn about common practices of the competition and see what makes NavaED different. 4. Write a backgrounder on the company, including key milestones and bios on founders. 5. Create a local and national (trade journals) media list. 6. Research NavaED's prior media coverage. 7. Write sample statement(s) and posts for customers, industry, legal publications, local and national. 8. Be prepared to jump if and when anything reaches the courts, news or social media. 9. In instances of criminal charges, we and counsel never allow them to speak with the media. 10. Approved statements are different.She also showed an interest in producing a YouTube video as a video statement, which would be approved by counsel. Legal Counsel may or may not actually speak with the media.
