I had the chance to attend a manifestation workshop, led by Madeleine Stallard and hosted by NAO founder Nikki Ostrower. The night was so inspiring and invigorating; my two friends also loved it, and can't wait to go back. NAO's space itself is beautiful and calming, and Nikki kindly guides and welcomes everyone she meets. A wonderful new addition to the city. 5 stars!!!!! read more

I saw Nikki in 2011 and it was life changing. Working with her, I learned I was lactose intolerant and received a great education on the importance of having a customized nutrition plan to meet my body's specific needs. Nine years later, I reached out again in Feb 2020 to reset after a couple of years of deprioritizing my health. Seeing Nikki again was like riding a bike - she was as warm, understanding, and supportive as ever. She created a very thorough shopping list with a ton of new brands and delicious recipe options that I wouldn't have known otherwise. Nikki made food shopping and cooking FUN because I could feel and taste the difference of what I was putting in my body. And all super easy to find and make!! Fast forward to COVID-19. I was lucky enough to start doing the work a month before the world changed. By then, I was already used to making better food choices for me and having Nikki by my side. While a lot of people were eating through their anxieties, Nikki's support helped me have the semblance of agency by making the most nourishing and simple meals. While I don't weigh myself, I'm definitely thinner and my clothes fit looser. And I feel amazing all around. More than that, Nikki's guidance is holistic. She not only focuses on the food, but also the mental and emotional. Nikki probes deep to help me get in touch with my feelings and then releasing them. She is the real deal and an amazing cheerleader - during the good and the bad! Now getting down to business. Nikki is super responsive (almost at lightning speed) and she's cost conscious. There's a stigma about eating healthy being expensive, but Nikki finds you options and promo codes galore. Seeing her is an investment in your health, and you learn how to maximize it! Call her. Right now. You'll gain a better appreciation for your health and strength, as well as a true friend and champion. read more

I really enjoyed my 60-minute infrared sauna session here. When I arrived the lady at the front desk was welcoming and informative, making a first-timer feel much more at ease. There was a very short wait for the room, which was intimate and clean. It housed a towel, basket for my things, remote for the sauna lights, and a hook housing a white robe. The session itself was very therapeutic, albeit super difficult to stay in the actual booth for an hour. Thankfully, the sauna itself was housed in a wooden and glass enclosure, which you can leave at your leisure if you need a moment to escape the heat. After my hour, I wrapped up in the robe and went down the hall (past the lobby) to the shower. It was clean and they provided towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. However, there is only one shower so patrons will need to be mindful of other guests who may be waiting to access the shower. Thankfully, I seemed to be the only one in for a sauna that day and there was no rush (not that I'd linger). I left feeling refreshed, zen, and a little more clear-headed than I did when I arrived. They'd switched out front desk associates during my time in the sauna, but the woman wishing me well as I left was just as lovely as the one who'd welcomed me when I arrived. I would have given 5-stars, but the water in the lobby was room-temperature (which wasn't super refreshing after you've spent an hour in a 140-degree room) and while I was trying to meditate in the sauna room I could clearly hear all the conversations from the folks down the hall in the lobby. Also, there's an area where you can plug your phone in if you'd like to listen to music or podcasts, but unfortunately it was broken. Still, overall it was a great self-care session. I'd like to return in the future and look forward to my next steam. read more

I've been working with Nikki for quite some time now and I felt compelled to write a review, bc she is so deserving! I am constantly amazed by all the tools Nikki has in her toolbox. Just when I think I have an insurmountable issue, Nikki is able to be an incredible sounding board, hold space, but even further, she offers solutions I could never have come up with on my own. I did the food sensitivity test and omg, the insights!! Totally life changing!!! This journey can be tough sometimes but having Nikki as a partner, makes me feel like I can do anything!! Choosing Nikki was the best gift I ever gave myself! read more

I've had such a positive experience working with Nikki over the past 9 months! I originally met with her in order to "look good/feel good" leading up to my wedding in October. I had no idea that I was signing up for a lifelong nutrition discovery - she has completely changed the way I view food, wellness, exercise, etc. It's definitely a journey, not a quick fix, but overall I have so much more energy than I did 9 months ago and feel empowered by the food choices I make on a day-to-day basis. Nikki's especially great for people living in NYC with her local restaurant, fitness, and activity recommendations. Overall, she has so much knowledge of the entire space and is highly responsive when you work with her one-on-one. I could not recommend Nikki and NAO Wellness enough for those at all stages of their health and wellness journey! read more

I have been here for the sauna and wellness events. It is located on a beautiful west village street and building. When you walk inside, the spot is spacious and well decorated with crystals. The saunas and area to shower are very clean, which is important to me. They also have fun wellness events I have been to like breathwork classes etc. It is so nice to find a place like this in the west village. Perfect for those living nearby. read more

This was my first time trying infrared & chromotherapy sauna and I'm pretty darn sure I'm hooked! Located on the lower level of a brownstone, NAO Wellness felt like a private oasis/nook in the busy city. Having been sick for the past month a half, my body needed a serious immunity boost. After sweating out the toxins, I can really say that my body feels less tired and achey. I was a bit worried about feeling lightheaded, but there was zero problem - the temperature was perfect and it felt completely zen. They also offer liquid electrolytes to add into your water to help you stay hydrated and replenish some of the mineral loss as you sweat out. I was also able to have some one-on-one time with the founder, Nikki, who seems very genuine and caring. All in all, a wonderful experience - rebooking already! read more

I have been working with Nikki for over 8 years now, and I can't say enough great things about her approach to nutrition and her commitment to sharing her love of healthy living with her clients. Over the years, Nikki has helped me get back on track post-pregnancy with 3 small children. She is a great listener who really takes the time to customize an approach for each client. She has the best suggestions on how to eat right and eat healthy, even with small kids and very limited time to cook at home! The Food Intolerance Test was an eye-opener for me - after we did the test, Nikki helped me work through a sample menu that I've been following. To my surprise, my new eating habits have had such a positive change to my energy level and I have lost weight, too! My family has been so impressed with my ability to get back on track after the birth of each child, and I owe it all to Nikki. She has been my cheerleader along the way. After a recent session with her, Nikki suggested that I try the ear seed kit, too. I have been having trouble sleeping over the past few months, and it has done wonders for me. She walked me through how to apply them, and I really think that it made me sleep better at night and de-stress after a long day (you can find them here: https://naowellness.com/ear-seeds-kit/). There are a bunch of great colors to try! Overall, super highly recommended - thank you NAO Wellness! read more

Thank you to NAO Wellness for creating this in-home wellness package. I love these ear seeds. Cute packaging and super easy-to-follow instructions. They stick on so well and last for over a week. I use them especially if I need to get lots of projects done at once, since they increase my ability to focus. I have also used them for stress relief and what a miracle they are. My jaw always tenses up and whenever I use the ear seeds I can feel an immediate reduction of any tension and stress levels go down.. I am so happy for these little sparkly life savers. read more

I have been a client of Nao Wellness now for the past couple of years and cannot say enough nice things about Nikki and her team. She hires the most lovely and knowledgeable staff and is so gentle and kind in her approach and all she does. I love love love this place and all they offer. I have had Reiki Healing sessions, food allergy testing done (changed my life), purchased ear seeds (for insomnia, stress, digestion), and attended a bunch of workshops (now on Zoom but still really good!). Nikki, the owner, really cares about her work, you and helping you. She goes over and above whatever she charges you as her goal is not $$$ but rather to HELP you and pass along some goodness in a world falling apart right now. Try something that she offers, there are loads of products, services and workshops - at all costs for all people. read more

Nikki saved my life. When I was struggling with anorexia and episodes of binging and restricting, it was a horrible cycle and left me very ill. I felt helpless and scared. After ending up in the hospital, I promised myself I would get help. I was terrified and reached a low bottom with all my body and mental abuse. I reached out to Nikki for help. She was so supportive. She sat down with me and listened for 45 minutes without interrupting me. She promised she would get me through this. I left the session feeling like there was hope for me to be a person again. I was willing to do whatever she said was needed. I was ready to jump on the recovery....Whenever I had doubts about anything she said, (there being such a thing as GOOD fats ;) she backed it up with an article) She is always prepared and professional. I remember going out of the country and worrying about how I was gaining so much weight. I emailed Nikki with long pleading messages for help. From thousands of miles away, she sent me podcasts to listen to. She sent positive reassuring messages, tips, advice, love and just about everything I needed. I know when I'm cheating myself, Nikki knows when I'm cheating myself. She is someone who truly understands everything about eating disorders and nutrition. She is someone who I trust and love! Thank you Nikki for being so patient with my many many questions and doubts. You are so beyond lovely. Nikki is truly a beautiful human being. Inside and out. She taught me how to rediscover and redefine who I am outside of my body. I am finally pursuing my big dreams again. I am no longer letting this disease win. As Nikki always tells me, perfectly imperfect. Keep it simple. As she always promised, if you keep trekking along the path of recovery, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Nikki really is as wonderful and well informed as everyone says! I came to Nikki after years of struggling with restrictive/binge eating patterns. I was unhappy. My weight was higher then it had been in years. I felt out of control and terrified. From our first session I knew that Nikki would be able to help me. The first month was hard. Just eating and not worrying about every calorie was strange. I didn't want to gain weight. For the first time in many years I just ate until full. I didn't worry about every calorie. And guess what? I lost weight! After a month of eating mindfully but not obsessing, Nikki suggested a juice fast.... Um, what? Not eat for 5 days? Drink nothing but vegetable juice!? I voiced my concerns and Nikki was very supportive. She allowed me to express my fears and suggested we do 3 days instead of 5. After 2 days of a pre cleanse diet before the fast I decided to take the plunge and "Juice Feast" for the full 5 days. I'm so glad I did! The juice cleanse was a revelation! I never felt hungry. The cleanse made me take a cold hard look at my relationship with food. I cried a lot but Nikki (and my amazing husband) was there the whole time as support. I never felt like I was alone. The fast completely changed the way I look at food. My sugar cravings disappeared. I want more fruits and veggies. Refined carbs are no longer a part of my day to day diet anymore. I LOVE green juice! Even meat doesn't have the allure it once did. I've lost weight but that's not even the goal anymore. The goal is to eat mindfully. To eat what makes you feel good. I've learned a bag of pretzels and cupcakes do not make your body feel good. It seems like a simple lesson but one I would have never discovered without Nikki's help! read more

I don't even know where to begin... perhaps I should start by telling you that Nikki has changed my life. I am a fat girl in a skinny girl's body. I used to be able to eat pretty much whatever I wanted, and because I'm 5'8" with great genetics, I could do so with little to no fluctuation in weight. I grew up on fast food, and my mom and dad didn't know much about cooking or nutrition. As my late 20's were approaching... my weight started to change and I didn't look as great as I did when I was a teenager. I also had major headaches. In an effort to loose weight I tried psychotic calorie counting (starvation) and eating lean cuisines (gross). Although it worked... I knew it wasn't sustainable and I was miserable! I needed help... I didn't know what to cook, I didn't know what to eat, I was doing research online and feeling all together overwhelmed. I was ready to make big changes in my life, but I didn't know how. So I did the obvious when I'm in need of help: I turned to yelp and found NAO Nutrition. After a couple of emails back and fourth and then a phone chat, I scheduled an appointment to see Nikki. Over the phone she seemed very experienced, professional, nice and caring. Over time she proved to be all that and more. Changing your diet is very hard. I will make no illusions about that. But that is why you need a coach. It's one of the hardest things I have accomplished in my life. But now, I am so much happier and have learned so much about myself. I had no idea that my eating habits were so incredibly emotional. Through this process of changing my life and diet I have come to think of Nikki more as a therapist/ nutritionist/ wellness yogi/ coach/ chef/ foodie/ friend/ babe (she's adorable). My headaches are gone, I feel so much happier and I am able to enjoy my life so much more. My skin looks great, I feel more confident with my body, I have more energy.... and the list goes on! As far as pricing goes... worth every penny. Every penny. I encourage you to talk with her and figure out some way to make it work for your budget. I wish every one of my friends and family could have the same experience I did with Nikki. read more

Nikki is simply the best. She doesn't put you on a "diet," she helps you navigate the lifestyle change of eating mindfully and making good/healthy/delicious choices when eating. For most of us, eating isn't just about satiating hunger, there's an emotional and mental element to how and what we eat. Nikki helps you figure out the emotional core behind "stress eating" so that you can redirect that feeling to something fun and productive. I am not nervous about gaining weight back after I stop seeing Nikki, because she has armed me with the knowledge and desire to want to continue to treat my body with respect by feeding it well and taking good care of it! read more

NIKKI IS THE BEST NUTRITIONIST IN THE WORLD! SHE COMPLETELY CHANGED MY LIFE. I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease when I was 16. I went to doctors' for years, taking numerous medications, going through various tests and procedures without anyone ever having a full grip on how to handle it. I lived with stomach aches everyday, and thought that was just the way it would be. At our first session, Nikki made some changes to my diet- I followed her instructions, and to my complete amazement, I felt better within a week!! I couldn't believe it- it was completely life changing. I continued my sessions with Nikki-and continued to follow the plan she put together for me and my crazy busy NYC life-style. I have been Nikki's plan for 6 years, and it's has been life changing. I look and feel amazing!!! She will teach you so many tips and tricks for eating healthy in any situation- work events, weddings, traveling, dinner parties etc. She will show you how to dissect restaurant menus, read ingredient labels, what to put in your grocery cart, and how to cook delicious healthy meals. I can honestly say that Nikki has saved my life! I began working with her after nearly 20 years of battling an extremely inhibiting eating disorder. Nikki was more than welcoming, kind, supportive, and knowledgable in helping me get started on an eating plan, which at the time was my biggest fear. Before working with Nikki, I had relied solely on one meal a day while maintaining a dangerous sugar/sweetener addiction. After my first NAO session, I put my full trust in Nikki and the eating plan she customized for me. Everything was tailored to my lifestyle, likes & dislikes, and in avoiding the trigger foods that had only previously led me down difficult roads. Nikki's plan did not feel at all restrictive, but rather opened my eyes to the wide array of delicious and wholesome meals I could be enjoying on a daily basis. After several months on this plan, I now feel better and more energized than I can ever remember. I finally feel that I can trust my body to know what hunger and satiety feel like and I have the knowledge of how to navigate any scenario and find the foods that will work best for sustaining how great I feel. Nikki is an amazing communicator and was always very quick to respond with questions between sessions. I truly felt that I had an extra arm (and a leg, and a brain) in this process of my recovery and it is all thanks to her. If you are questioning whether or not a nutritionist is for you, then just write Nikki an email right now and the answer will be clear. read more

I've struggled with eczema my entire adult life. Not only was it physically painful but it intruded on other parts of my life from work to relationships (I literally couldn't date guys with beards bc their stubble tore at my sensitive skin. Ahk!). I tried every cure in the book from bleach baths, to steroid creams, to a gluten free diet (mildly helpful), supplements, and everything in between. Nothing really worked - at a root cause level - until I took the ALCAT test, something Nikki recommended. The results came back and it turned out food I was eating on a daily basis (including kale, avocado, apples - healthy stuff!) were on my list of irritants. Since I've gained the knowledge from the ALCAT test, I've avoided all these food and my life long eczema it almost entirely gone. Its worth every penny to get this test if you have severe skin issues. I cannot recommend it more. read more

From the second I stepped in to NAO Wellness, I was instantly destressed and felt nothing but zen. Such a beautiful, calming and warm space. All of the employees and the owner are so welcoming and knowledgeable. The infrared saunas are perfect for a variety of healing benefits - muscle relaxation, joint pain, detox, anxiety, sleep issues, etc. All of the workshops I've attended are super inspiring, productive and uplifting. I can't wait to try reiki and chiro soon. I'm in love with their products - everything from their holistic non-toxic skincare, supplements and bone broth is top of the line. I wish I could rent NAO on Airbnb for a few days. This place gives me all the feels! Sarah was amazing - so energetic and thoughtful! Would def see her again!!

I was super skeptical of doing anything remotely close to seeing a nutritionist. After my first conversation with Nikki, I had a new attitude. She eased me in to all of the changes I made with my overall diet - and we made some BIG changes. For example - I completely cut out dairy from my diet. None of my doctors had ever mentioned this being an issue with my sinus/allergy problems, but worked wonders. So much so that friends would even comment and ask what I was doing differently. I highly recommend Nikki, no matter where you are located. She changed my life in some really lasting ways, all via phone calls (I live in Louisiana). She took the time to really get to know me and give me a personalized plan based on my needs and desired outcomes. I've urged several of my friends to see her, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to make a change in their health. read more

I went to NAO Wellness back in 2016 and it changed my life. In my initial meeting, I was overweight, had severe acne, I was suffering from panic attacks, I was taking meds for anxiety and for ADD, my digestion was a mess, and worst of all, I was suffering from debilitating headaches and TMJ pain on average 18 days out of the month. I had seen countless specialists at this point who were trying to figure out what was wrong with me, and I had tried a whole ton of different medications. By recommendation of my nutritionist, I got the ALCAT test and I learned that I have 27 food intolerances. I followed the food plan they gave me and within one week I noticed a massive difference. My pain was gone, I had energy, my anxiety levels were down, and attention span was up. Within a few months my acne was clearing up and I lost 30lbs. I have stuck with the food plan for the past 4.5 years and swear by it, it truly changed my life. Now that it's been a few years I just made another ALCAT appointment to see how my food intolerances changed over the years, and I look forward to continuing to work with NAO in the future. read more

I had high hopes for Nao Nutrition, due to all the wonderful reviews on here. Looking back, I see the majority mention Nikki specifically. I wish I had noticed that before. Unfortunately I have a complicated mash up of GI problems caused by endometriosis, IBS, and SIBO. It's a constant balancing act trying to maintain my hormonal balance (endometriosis patients are inherently unbalanced, with too much estrogen which feeds the endometriosis if not kept in check) as my hormones seem to be the biggest factor in my GI exacerbations. I had worked with other nutritionists in the past and although I had gotten to the point of being stable, this was only through following a very strict and restrictive diet. It was not an appealing long term solution. My initial consult went well. The nutritionist I worked with had a lot of ideas for "lifestyle changes" such as meditation that I had tried before but was willing to give a go again. More importantly, she had a new diet suggestion: the GAPS diet. It's a difficult diet but I was desperate so I decided to give it my best. I had one very important question though. I wanted to know if she had any experience working with endometriosis patients. The majority of GI and nutrition-oriented people I have come across are aces at managing IBS/SIBO but did not fully grasp the major influence of the endometriosis on those symptoms. She said she did and that is the reason I committed. My medical debt is out of control already. I didn't want to waste more money on another "IBS" diet that didn't address my hormonal problems as well. Initially I felt good. A couple weeks in however, I got very ill. Vomiting, dizzy, etc. Literally unable to function. I was assured it was bad bacteria dying off so I rode it out. Things only went down hill from there. My body completely crashed. I had zero energy, to the point of sleeping up to 20 hours/day. I was nauseous/vomiting almost every day and yet I started rapidly gaining weight. As in 10 lbs in a week, all in my belly and thighs. This after struggling to gain weight for over a year. It was quite obviously hormonal. So I waited for my period to come so I could get relief like usual. I waited. And waited. I'm still waiting, 3 months later. Meanwhile my caloric intake remains at less than 1000 calories a day and I've missed more work in the last 2 months than I have in almost 2 years of being chronically ill. I'll likely need yet another surgery soon due to high estrogen levels triggering an endometriosis relapse. It's not as if I expected a nutritionist to magically fix all of this. I saw all of my doctors. My PMD and all my specialists. Nothing they suggested helped and it was becoming increasingly clear that the new diet was the instigator. I was getting much, much worse. My nutritionist was nice enough but I asked her to simply explain any GI side effects I could expect from a med my GYN prescribed. All I got was "we recommend seeing an endocrinologist." I emailed her again when I was at my worst, not able to function at all for over a week. She was nice enough to call me but the gist of the phone call was "trying meditating again" and to just keep going with the same diet. I knew something was very off and no amount of meditation was going to fix it. I needed nutritional support. That's the reason I started working with her. Not the lifestyle adjustments, etc. It turns out that everything I was eating was exactly wrong for a woman with estrogen dominance. Tons of fats, red meat, dairy, all the things that another nutritionist has now explained to me she uses when women need to INCREASE their estrogen. Definitely not something I need. But the biggest problem I have is not that the diet didn't work for me. My nausea and vomiting was not bacterial die off. It was a combination of massively elevated estrogen and eating so many fats that my body had simply stopped digesting. I know everyone is different and I'm used to my body not responding to things the way I want it to. My problem is that with all the issues I was having and my desperate emails, she never once actually asked me what I was eating and tried to help me troubleshoot ways to adjust my diet to improve my symptoms. Not a single question in our phone calls or emails about whether I noticed a particular food making me feel better or worse. The GAPS diet is not something my nutritionist created herself or that I needed to spend a ton of money on a nutritionist in order to attempt it. The resources are available for free on a website and the book cost me about $10 on Amazon. I hired a nutritionist to help guide me through it to figure out what did and did not work for me and that is most definitely not what I got. If you're not experienced enough to handle a particularly complicated case, then just say so. When I'm unable to handle something at work, I ask a senior nurse or doctor to take over. I have a right to expect the same of the people caring for me. read more

This practice received tons of fantastic reviews. I, however, will not be drinking the juice. Reason: at least 3 weeks ago now, I called and left Nikki a message in addition to following up with an email regarding an initial consultation...I am currently hearing crickets as I type this review, and in wait for a response to either of my messages. I don't know whether or not Nikki accepts insurance plans but I was actually willing to pay out-of-pocket based on praises of her practice. Unfortunately, I will never find out how "great" she is with regard to getting clients on track nutrition-wise, because she never bothered to contact me. I'll simply stick to finding an in-network practitioner, who is both covered under my health plan and will be responsive. Disappointing to say the least. read more

I am the newest member of the cult known as Nikki. I echo the sentiments of everyone before me and also found her through Yelp, which is why I felt the need to share my commentary. I came to Nikki in a bad state - mentally, emotionally, and physically. I was at my heaviest weight of all time and didn't know what else to do. I have tried so many different diets, workouts etc. The hardest thing for me is commitment to one thing for very long. I would start Atkins one day, the next day decide to be Vegan and the next day start a Master Cleanse. My behavior was self-sabotaging and out of control because I didn't know where to turn and what to do for myself next. I was also using food and drinking to suppress my feelings of what I was going through and I had been living in this fog for years. And then comes my Nikki into my life to kick start me into a new direction. I won't lie when I tell you the first couple of weeks are mind blowing and hard as hell. To basically retrain yourself from lifelong behaviors is overwhelming to say the least. I found the way Nikki delivered the information understandable and realistic for me to work into my day to day lifestyle. I travel so much for work and Nikki gave me invaluable info for living a clean life on the road. I have used travel as an excuse for years not to workout and be healthy and that was total BS I let myself believe. A couple months into the process I took up the notch a bit and cut alcohol and increased workouts. I have dropped 33lbs in a slow and controlled way with more to go. I feel so much more empowered in my life without the mental anguish and self hatred I dealt with on a daily basis 6 months ago (PN - pre Nikki). I have never felt so energetic and happy in my 34 years of life. My skin is on a different level and everyone wants the secrets to my success......the secret is Nikki. The best investment I have ever made on myself. Find a way to make it work because it will be with you forever. read more

I don't even know where to begin with how much Nikki at Nao Nutrition changed my life. My health/diet/nutrition story is comparative to Opera's story of being an up and down roller coaster my whole life. Before I met Nikki, I was a complete junk food girl. I would only eat pizza, chips, anything fried, KFC, McD's, Burger King...I'm sure you get the point. Then I got sick from my negligence (obviously the fatty foods, no exercise, etc) and went to the hospital and had a near-death experience because of my eating habits. I gained 60 lbs prior to that hospital experience in under 2 years. After I got out I tried every thing! I've tried every single "diet" out there from South Beach, Atkins, Grapefruit diet, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, German diets, diet pills, shakes, etc. I also went to many different nutritionists, overeating groups, doctors, health coaches....the list is endless. I hit a wall finally and began to get sick again. Then I found Nikki. It was truly a blessing and although I was very stubborn and couldn't let go of my horrible eating habits...Nikki literally changed it all. To start, she was very thorough with my intake and all of the medications I was on at the time. Then she went ahead and helped me change my attitude towards food. That in itself took the longest time because there were so many foods I thought "I could not live without!" But through her knowledge, experience, and education in nutrition I was able to crawl out of the overeating and indulgent lifestyle I was living. She even came to my house and helped me sort through my cabinets, refridgerator, and even went grocery shopping with me on occasions! She helped me acquire a love for the natural taste of things and even answered every text while I was at the grocery store, after a night at a club, and even nights I was so hungry that I wanted to get McD's and steered me in the right direction each time. Every time I look back, I will always be thankful to NAO Nutrition. I can't even believe how far I've come and also how good I feel!!! The great thing about her program is that she is excited to share her knowledge, she works with you with your needs and budget, shares great ideas/websites/recipes with you, and the best part is that she worked with me and my medical condition! Most "diets" will never do that for you and for me that was the most important. And besides that, she is so warm, caring, and professional with each appointment. I even have a new love for cooking now that Nikki is in my life! She helped me in more ways than one and I will continue my work with her. I would recommend her to anyone and I already have! So many of my friends, colleagues, and clients have sought out Nikki's help after they saw the results from me. My entire office is living the NAO Nutrition life! I can keep going but I think you understand now that Nikki at NAO Nutrition is the real mccoy. I now live in the organic lifestyle and I hope you will too! read more

My health and fitness really turned around once I saw Nikki. She approaches wellness holistically so you can make sustainable changes. She won't be recommending low-fat this and sugar-free that. I first met with her 6 months ago. I was overweight, drinking too much and depressed. Nikki gave me advice that I put into practice as best I could. It's not just about eating - she taught me how to start my day on a positive note. That's just one of many tiny things that I did that required little effort. Getting healthy is a partnership though - Nikki can show you the way but if you don't make any changes - even tiny ones - then you're not going to get healthy. I just had a check up last week. My doctor was happy for me. I asked if I'd lost weight since my last check up (because I don't use a scale) and she told me I had lost 25 lbs! read more

How can you adequately provide a recommendation for someone who's so dramatically changed your life? I first contacted Nikki in December 2013, feeling frustrated and lost. I watched what I ate. I exercised. I took a vested interest in my overall health. Yet, I was still fighting to feel good about my body. It didn't help that I was constantly bloated and irritable. On top of eating foods that left me either undernourished and sluggish or overstuffed, I had been grappling with years of negative self-talk about my body. As someone who has struggled with disordered eating in the past, I doubted I could change years of behaviors. Nikki reassured me. I was provided with the tools and support to revamp the way in which I approached food. The so-called healthy habits I had formed over the years were wrong for me and my body on so many levels. Nikki educated me about various foods and food behaviors. I took a real, honest look at how much sugar I was eating. I also looked at the old restrictive behaviors that controlled what and how much food I ate. I set a mindfulness plan for my diet. Fast forward to today and I feel like a different person! In a few short months I've overhauled my eating habits and transformed my relationship with food. I've stopped many of the compulsions - like candy or gum. I've stopped calorie counting and grazing to "save" calories. I've stopped feeling bloated and my skin has improved. And those extra pounds, those were shed, too. I still have a great deal to learn, but Nikki has set in motion a wonderful lifestyle change that I have fully embraced. I recommend Nikki to anyone who is looking to develop a healthy relationship with food and eating, and who is looking to improve his or her quality of life. She will guide you, support you, and care about you every step of the way. read more

During the summer of 2012, I lived in NYC while interning uptown. As someone who has battled with poor body image, anorexia, and malnutrition in the past I knew I needed to find an adequate nutritionist to guide me through the city and my meal plan. Upon meeting Nikki, I knew almost immediately that she was quite possibly the most positive, loving, and kind person I had ever met (let alone worked with as a nutritionist). Over the course of 3 months, I met with Nikki in her apartment each week to discuss recipes, fear foods, natural remedies for poor digestion and acne, and personal victories. Her approach to nutritional counseling is equal parts education and advice. Nikki made me feel like I could tell her even my most illogical food fears and worries without the slightest bit of judgement. She helped me to come up with weekly goals (both food related and non), to learn more about what it is I put in my body, and to make a grocery list filled with nutritionally dense and body/soul-nourishing items. In the time since I have seen Nikki as a provider, she still remains in contact with me - checking in to make sure I am doing alright or offering sweet words of advice. I truly cannot recommend her highly enough, especially to young women who struggle with disordered eating or self-perception. And, of course, she gets bonus points for her adorable dog, Kirby, being a wonderful comfort during appointments :) read more

Where do I even begin to describe how incredible Nikki and the staff at NAO are. I started seeing Nikki as a client exactly one year ago when I was going through an overhaul if my health and well-being. After working with Nikki and sticking to the plan she made, I lost over 25 pounds and was in the greatest shape of my life. I cut all of my anxiety and depression medication, cigarettes, cut processed foods, soda, sugar and worked out daily. The results were incredible and Nikki's care and expertise are unparalleled to anyone I've ever met. Now let's talk about the stunning new wellness center, an oasis from the real world. The infrared saunas are gorgeous and the environment is extremely welcoming. She has crystal infused water, trace mineral drops, state of the art equipment and a gorgeous facility, what else could you ask for! The infrared sweats the sh*t out and feels incredible. The fast IVs at the center are also one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. After a lovely and welcoming nurse went over the options and talked me through the process, I sat back and began to feel the warm euphoric feeling rush over to me, after a quick minute she was done and I was left to sit back and feel this incredible feeling. After spending the day at the center and pampering myself, I left energized, relaxed and ready to take on NYC again! read more

After trying every possible fad diet, losing and gaining weight throughout my life, I finally found NAO Nutrition. I worked with Anne Markt and she was fantastic! Anne's approach worked great for me, and taught me to improve my eating habits and reduce weight slowly (and sustainably). I lost almost 20 pounds in 3 months, but beyond the weigh loss, my energy levels went up significantly and my chronic cravings disappeared. My new way of eating helped me get rid of skin redness problems I had, inflammation in my heels and carpal tunnel, etc. I strongly recommend working with Anne for long term benefits! I've struggled with eating disorders for over a decade, and as a result have worked with my fair share of nutritionists & dieticians. They all were the same...EXCEPT for Nikki! With Nikki it wasn't about a "diet," it was a life change for my body, mind and soul. No more counting calories, but instead incorporating meditation and feeding my body with healthy, nourishing things. Nikki is totally cool, relatable and realistic. She's young, beautiful and in amazing shape - so an inspiring coach. She simply "gets it." I loved that Nikki was accessible to me throughout the week and wanted to support at any time, not just during our 1-hour weekly session. She did everything from recommending restaurants in my neighborhood, listing what to order, to teaching me how to cook easy, healthy meals (I had NEVER cooked at home). The depth of her knowledge is tremendous. If you are like I was who thought that a mini bag of pirate's booty is a "healthy snack," prepared to be amazed! I was shocked to find out what my body really craved and how addicted it was to sugar. I was surprised to find out things I thought were "healthy," like luna bars and yogurt, weren't giving me any nutritional value. She completely changed my approach to eating and food. Nikki helped me take my seasonal juices cleanses to the next level, by creating a pre and post cleanse regimen to reap the full benefits of my detox. I can't sing her praises enough. She is smart, compassionate, motivating and genuinely cares for each of her clients! There is NO one better on the island of Manhattan. read more

I'm always skeptical of new wellness trends like infrared saunas, and I only went here to use my extra Class Pass points... but this is honestly so relaxing!! The salon smells amazing and everyone who works there is so sweet. I did a 30 min session which was the perfect amount of time. I was in the best mood afterwards... it's like going on a mini vacation. Highly recommend! read more
