I saw Nikki in 2011 and it was life changing. Working with her, I learned I was lactose intolerant and received a great education on the importance of having a customized nutrition plan to meet my body's specific needs. I really enjoyed my 60-minute infrared sauna session here. When I arrived the lady at the front desk was welcoming and informative, making a first-timer feel much more at ease. There was a very short wait for the room, which was intimate and clean. It housed a towel, basket for my things, remote for the sauna lights, and a hook housing a white robe. The session itself was very therapeutic, albeit super difficult to stay in the actual booth for an hour. Thankfully, the sauna itself was housed in a wooden and glass enclosure, which you can leave at your leisure if you need a moment to escape the heat. After my hour, I wrapped up in the robe and went down the hall (past the lobby) to the shower. It was clean and they provided towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. However, there is only one shower so patrons will need to be mindful of other guests who may be waiting to access the shower. Thankfully, I seemed to be the only one in for a sauna that day and there was no rush (not that I'd linger). I left feeling refreshed, zen, and a little more clear-headed than I did when I arrived. They'd switched out front desk associates during my time in the sauna, but the woman wishing me well as I left was just as lovely as the one who'd welcomed me when I arrived. I would have given 5-stars, but the water in the lobby was room-temperature (which wasn't super refreshing after you've spent an hour in a 140-degree room) and while I was trying to meditate in the sauna room I could clearly hear all the conversations from the folks down the hall in the lobby. Also, there's an area where you can plug your phone in if you'd like to listen to music or podcasts, but unfortunately it was broken. Still, overall it was a great self-care session. I've been working with Nikki for quite some time now and I felt compelled to write a review, bc she is so deserving! I am constantly amazed by all the tools Nikki has in her toolbox. I've had such a positive experience working with Nikki over the past 9 months! I originally met with her in order to "look good/feel good" leading up to my wedding in October. I have been here for the sauna and wellness events. It is located on a beautiful west village street and building. When you walk inside, the spot is spacious and well decorated with crystals. The saunas and area to shower are very clean, which is important to me. This was my first time trying infrared & chromotherapy sauna and I'm pretty darn sure I'm hooked! Located on the lower level of a brownstone, NAO Wellness felt like a private oasis/nook in the busy city. Having been sick for the past month a half, my body needed a serious immunity boost. After sweating out the toxins, I can really say that my body feels less tired and achey. I was a bit worried about feeling lightheaded, but there was zero problem - the temperature was perfect and it felt completely zen. They also offer liquid electrolytes to add into your water to help you stay hydrated and replenish some of the mineral loss as you sweat out. Thank you to NAO Wellness for creating this in-home wellness package. I love these ear seeds. Cute packaging and super easy-to-follow instructions. They stick on so well and last for over a week. I use them especially if I need to get lots of projects done at once, since they increase my ability to focus. I have also used them for stress relief and what a miracle they are. Nikki saved my life. When I was struggling with anorexia and episodes of binging and restricting, it was a horrible cycle and left me very ill. I felt helpless and scared. After ending up in the hospital, I promised myself I would get help. I was terrified and reached a low bottom with all my body and mental abuse. I reached out to Nikki for help. Nikki really is as wonderful and well informed as everyone says! I came to Nikki after years of struggling with restrictive/binge eating patterns. I was unhappy. My weight was higher then it had been in years. I felt out of control and terrified. From our first session I knew that Nikki would be able to help me. The first month was hard. Just eating and not worrying about every calorie was strange. I didn't want to gain weight. For the first time in many years I just ate until full. I didn't worry about every calorie. And guess what? I lost weight! After a month of eating mindfully but not obsessing, Nikki suggested a juice fast.... Um, what? Not eat for 5 days? Drink nothing but vegetable juice!? I voiced my concerns and Nikki was very supportive. She allowed me to express my fears and suggested we do 3 days instead of 5. After 2 days of a pre cleanse diet before the fast I decided to take the plunge and "Juice Feast" for the full 5 days. I'm so glad I did! The juice cleanse was a revelation! I never felt hungry. I don't even know where to begin... perhaps I should start by telling you that Nikki has changed my life. I am a fat girl in a skinny girl's body. I used to be able to eat pretty much whatever I wanted, and because I'm 5'8" with great genetics, I could do so with little to no fluctuation in weight. I grew up on fast food, and my mom and dad didn't know much about cooking or nutrition. As my late 20's were approaching... my weight started to change and I didn't look as great as I did when I was a teenager. I also had major headaches. In an effort to loose weight I tried psychotic calorie counting (starvation) and eating lean cuisines (gross). Although it worked... I knew it wasn't sustainable and I was miserable! I needed help... I've struggled with eczema my entire adult life. Not only was it physically painful but it intruded on other parts of my life from work to relationships (I literally couldn't date guys with beards bc their stubble tore at my sensitive skin. Ahk!). I tried every cure in the book from bleach baths, to steroid creams, to a gluten free diet (mildly helpful), supplements, and everything in between. Nothing really worked - at a root cause level - until I took the ALCAT test, something Nikki recommended. The results came back and it turned out food I was eating on a daily basis (including kale, avocado, apples - healthy stuff!) were on my list of irritants. Since I've gained the knowledge from the ALCAT test, I've avoided all these food and my life long eczema it almost entirely gone. I can honestly say that Nikki has saved my life! I began working with her after nearly 20 years of battling an extremely inhibiting eating disorder. I went to NAO Wellness back in 2016 and it changed my life. In my initial meeting, I was overweight, had severe acne, I was suffering from panic attacks, I was taking meds for anxiety and for ADD, my digestion was a mess, and worst of all, I was suffering from debilitating headaches and TMJ pain on average 18 days out of the month. I had high hopes for Nao Nutrition, due to all the wonderful reviews on here. Looking back, I see the majority mention Nikki specifically. I wish I had noticed that before. Unfortunately I have a complicated mash up of GI problems caused by endometriosis, IBS, and SIBO. It's a constant balancing act trying to maintain my hormonal balance (endometriosis patients are inherently unbalanced, with too much estrogen which feeds the endometriosis if not kept in check) as my hormones seem to be the biggest factor in my GI exacerbations. I had worked with other nutritionists in the past and although I had gotten to the point of being stable, this was only through following a very strict and restrictive diet. It was not an appealing long term solution. My initial consult went well. The nutritionist I worked with had a lot of ideas for "lifestyle changes" such as meditation that I had tried before but was willing to give a go again. More importantly, she had a new diet suggestion: the GAPS diet. It's a difficult diet but I was desperate so I decided to give it my best. I had one very important question though. I wanted to know if she had any experience working with endometriosis patients. The majority of GI and nutrition-oriented people I have come across are aces at managing IBS/SIBO but did not fully grasp the major influence of the endometriosis on those symptoms. She said she did and that is the reason I committed. My medical debt is out of control already. I didn't want to waste more money on another "IBS" diet that didn't address my hormonal problems as well. Initially I felt good. A couple weeks in however, I got very ill. Vomiting, dizzy, etc. Literally unable to function. I was assured it was bad bacteria dying off so I rode it out. Things only went down hill from there. My body completely crashed. I had zero energy, to the point of sleeping up to 20 hours/day. I was nauseous/vomiting almost every day and yet I started rapidly gaining weight. As in 10 lbs in a week, all in my belly and thighs. This after struggling to gain weight for over a year. It was quite obviously hormonal. So I waited for my period to come so I could get relief like usual. I waited. And waited. I'm still waiting, 3 months later. Meanwhile my caloric intake remains at less than 1000 calories a day and I've missed more work in the last 2 months than I have in almost 2 years of being chronically ill. I'll likely need yet another surgery soon due to high estrogen levels triggering an endometriosis relapse. It's not as if I expected a nutritionist to magically fix all of this. I saw all of my doctors. My PMD and all my specialists. Nothing they suggested helped and it was becoming increasingly clear that the new diet was the instigator. I was getting much, much worse. My nutritionist was nice enough but I asked her to simply explain any GI side effects I could expect from a med my GYN prescribed. All I got was "we recommend seeing an endocrinologist." I emailed her again when I was at my worst, not able to function at all for over a week. She was nice enough to call me but the gist of the phone call was "trying meditating again" and to just keep going with the same diet. I knew something was very off and no amount of meditation was going to fix it. I needed nutritional support. That's the reason I started working with her. Not the lifestyle adjustments, etc. It turns out that everything I was eating was exactly wrong for a woman with estrogen dominance. Tons of fats, red meat, dairy, all the things that another nutritionist has now explained to me she uses when women need to INCREASE their estrogen. Definitely not something I need. But the biggest problem I have is not that the diet didn't work for me. My nausea and vomiting was not bacterial die off. It was a combination of massively elevated estrogen and eating so many fats that my body had simply stopped digesting. I know everyone is different and I'm used to my body not responding to things the way I want it to. My problem is that with all the issues I was having and my desperate emails, she never once actually asked me what I was eating and tried to help me troubleshoot ways to adjust my diet to improve my symptoms. Not a single question in our phone calls or emails about whether I noticed a particular food making me feel better or worse. The GAPS diet is not something my nutritionist created herself or that I needed to spend a ton of money on a nutritionist in order to attempt it. The resources are available for free on a website and the book cost me about $10 on Amazon. I hired a nutritionist to help guide me through it to figure out what did and did not work for me and that is most definitely not what I got. If you're not experienced enough to handle a particularly complicated case, then just say so. When I'm unable to handle something at work, I ask a senior nurse or doctor to take over. I have a right to expect the same of the people caring for me. read more

Where do I even begin to describe how incredible Nikki and the staff at NAO are. I started seeing Nikki as a client exactly one year ago when I was going through an overhaul if my health and well-being. This practice received tons of fantastic reviews. I, however, will not be drinking the juice. Reason: at least 3 weeks ago now, I called and left Nikki a message in addition to following up with an email regarding an initial consultation...I am currently hearing crickets as I type this review, and in wait for a response to either of my messages. I don't know whether or not Nikki accepts insurance plans but I was actually willing to pay out-of-pocket based on praises of her practice. Unfortunately, I will never find out how "great" she is with regard to getting clients on track nutrition-wise, because she never bothered to contact me. I am the newest member of the cult known as Nikki. I echo the sentiments of everyone before me and also found her through Yelp, which is why I felt the need to share my commentary. I came to Nikki in a bad state - mentally, emotionally, and physically. I was at my heaviest weight of all time and didn't know what else to do. I have tried so many different diets, workouts etc. The hardest thing for me is commitment to one thing for very long. I would start Atkins one day, the next day decide to be Vegan and the next day start a Master Cleanse. My behavior was self-sabotaging and out of control because I didn't know where to turn and what to do for myself next. I was also using food and drinking to suppress my feelings of what I was going through and I had been living in this fog for years. And then comes my Nikki into my life to kick start me into a new direction. I won't lie when I tell you the first couple of weeks are mind blowing and hard as hell. I don't even know where to begin with how much Nikki at Nao Nutrition changed my life. My health/diet/nutrition story is comparative to Opera's story of being an up and down roller coaster my whole life. Before I met Nikki, I was a complete junk food girl. I would only eat pizza, chips, anything fried, KFC, McD's, Burger King...I'm sure you get the point. Then I got sick from my negligence (obviously the fatty foods, no exercise,etc) and went to the hospital and had a near-death experience because of my eating habits. I gained 60 lbs prior to that hospital experience in under 2 years. After I got out I tried every thing! How can you adequately provide a recommendation for someone who's so dramatically changed your life? I first contacted Nikki in December 2013, feeling frustrated and lost. I watched what I ate. I exercised. I took a vested interest in my overall health. Yet, I was still fighting to feel good about my body. It didn't help that I was constantly bloated and irritable. On top of eating foods that left me either undernourished and sluggish or overstuffed, I had been grappling with years of negative self-talk about my body. As someone who has struggled with disordered eating in the past, I doubted I could change years of behaviors. Nikki reassured me. I'm always skeptical of new wellness trends like infrared saunas, and I only went here to use my extra Class Pass points... but this is honestly so relaxing!! The salon smells amazing and everyone who works there is so sweet. I did a 30 min session which was the perfect amount of time. I can't say enough good things about the Wellness Center and about NAO in general. First of all I started seeing Nikki years ago for myself, and recently NIkki and Jessica for nutrition as well for me (did the ALCAT food intolerance test) and also my kids who have a grab bag of eating problems; connected to special needs and ASD. During the summer of 2012, I lived in NYC while interning uptown. As someone who has battled with poor body image, anorexia, and malnutrition in the past I knew I needed to find an adequate nutritionist to guide me through the city and my meal plan. Upon meeting Nikki, I knew almost immediately that she was quite possibly the most positive, loving, and kind person I had ever met (let alone worked with as a nutritionist). Over the course of 3 months, I met with Nikki in her apartment each week to discuss recipes, fear foods, natural remedies for poor digestion and acne, and personal victories. Her approach to nutritional counseling is equal parts education and advice. Nikki made me feel like I could tell her even my most illogical food fears and worries without the slightest bit of judgement. She helped me to come up with weekly goals (both food related and non), to learn more about what it is I put in my body, and to make a grocery list filled with nutritionally dense and body/soul-nourishing items. NAO Nutrition is the best thing to have ever happened to me. I swear. After many fruitless years of attempted weight loss, I finally found a way to lose weight and keep it off and that's Nikki! I was extremely disappointed when Nikki referred me to an associate of hers instead of working directly with me. The associate wasn't the individual who was referred to me, Nikki was. I met with the associate once and decided not to return. Nikki did not follow-up to find out how the first meeting went with her associate or why I did not return... I thought that this review was important for others to see since it is an honest one. Update... I received a call from Nikki offering either a refund or a rescheduled consultation.
