Despite the name, no hot baked nannas are available for purchase - only deliciously warm sweet and savoury buns.
Nanna's is the original in Chinatown for those Asian-style desserts we all know and adore so much, and where I first discovered my love for custard buns. Oh, that crunchy top! That sweet-filled centre! And when you nab one fresh out of the over so it's all warm... it's a gooey daydream people.
I can even look past the fact there is no vibe whatsoever (it's just a hole in the wall, really), and love it purely and simply as a takeaway place. Yet I visit Nanna's less now that there's another, much, much larger, option within stone's throw at BreadTop.
Don't get me wrong; if I'm after custard buns I will definitely still head to Nanna's - they're the best I've had. And the mini hotdogs, as Scott pointed out, are unreal too.
Cheap and awesome if you're after a quick, tasty sugar high. read more
