TL;DR I have not found a better Sunday lunch.
I suppose what people want to know is, 'is the food any good'. The answer is a resounding yes. I have had a lot of meals out at a lot of places and I must admit, if I had not been introduced to this place then I would have probably never found it. Its a Hotel afterall with a bar. But the food here is beyond excellent. I'll explain why:
I have been a couple of times here, and I would say that each time has been a 'treat'. Service is top notch, booked table ready on time every time. But that isn't the part that is worth writing home about, the food is.
The setup of the carvery is that you take a plate, tell the chef want meat you want (there is a selection and each is to be recommended), then move on a dish out your vegetables yourself.
I am yet to find any place that serves this type of food to a higher quality. The meat selection is always cooked 'just right' and the preparation of the vegetables just isn't found anywhere else. Goosefat roast potatoes anyone? I don't know if they really use goose fat, in fact I have no idea what they do to make them the way they do. What I do know is this is how it should be done.
Oh, and the price... I don't want to say that it is a bargain, because that wouldn't do justice to the value for money they provide, I have paid nearly twice the price for a meal and it not come close. Sorry Mum, your dinners are still my favourite, but if you don't want to cook, we are going here! read more
