The food here is delicious and the service is well. The sauces are delightful and the chicken seems to always be cooked correctly.

I left with a new-found love for the owner of this place and an undying wish to see his business do well. Seriously. My boyfriend wanted something a bit more breakfast-y that wasn't too expensive, but alas we couldn't find any nearby so we resorted to Danny Q's charcoal chicken shop. The signs on the window is part of the menu and almost all of the meals were under 10 dollars - dirt cheap for a full meal with chicken, chips, AND a drink? I'm sold. Walk in, and you see a little Asian man running the shop by himself. My boyfriend asked him if he had any breakfast foods, and the man sheepishly apologised and said they didn't have much besides sandwiches. My boyfriend then ordered a burger. To make up for the fact that my boyfriend couldn't get exactly what he wanted, we saw the man PILE on chips on the plate. And I mean it was a mountain where you had to walk slowly so the chips don't fall off - I've never seen such a generous portion in my life! My boyfriend opens his burger and notices that the man added bacon and egg, breakfast ingredients to make up for the fact that they have no real big breakfasts available. Fast forward to us happily eating our meals - a man walks in and starts looking at the newspapers on the counter. When he couldn't reach one, the owner paused what he was doing, rushed from the kitchen, and gave the man the newspaper. Aww... Then I looked around and observed - a tiny charcoal chicken shop with very few seating and handmade posters of the menu. Just imagining this little man by himself carefully cutting out pictures and glue them to posterboard actually gave me a tear in my eye. --- But to the food... Like I said, it was REALLY cheap for the portions you get. Half chicken with chips and a drink all for under 10 dollars. This place really serves you a bang for your buck. The chicken was delicious and juicy with very flavoursome roasted skin. Went great with a side of nice thick chips. Ketchup upon request.

As far as take away chicken shops go, this is one is pretty damn awesome. I have passed this on…read moremany occasions, wondering what on earth the 'twist' is exactly. The twist seems to be their signature gluten free stuffing. Every chicken is well seasoned and stuffed with a ricey-barley type stuffing with vegetables. It was awesome. We scooped out the lot and mixed it up with some spinach and slaw to make our own side salad, as by the time we arrived (dinner time, about 6.30-7ish) the pre-made salads were looking really sad and sparse. Our own knock up was pretty good, so we were happy. Speaking of salads, there are heaps on the menu but that seems to be for the lunch crowd. At dinner they aren't replenished and there was only two left. They were ok to make up a fresh Greek Salad, but that was about it. But back to the chicken and chips...that's what you really need out of a good chicken shop and this place delivered. The rosemary-salted chips were fresh, crunchy and moorish. The service was really friendly and I would definitely come back here if I had a hankering for chicken and chips. I'd probably use the stuffing in my own salad again too because that was taaasty.

I popped in one…read morenight for a quick meal while waiting to meet someone, and wasn't expecting much, but was thoroughly impressed throughout my visit. I was kindly greeted upon my arrival. I ordered a basic plate with katsu chicken and a side of rice. I said I was dining in but was confused where to wait. The vast majority of seating is upstairs so I figured I'd wait downstairs til my meal was ready, but they would have brought it to me. It wasn't busy so they knew where it was going. Meal was ready fairly quickly, under 10 minutes. I carried it upstairs myself though they kindly offered to do so for me. The chicken looked like a little wheel, cut into four equal quadrants. What it lacked in size it made up in quality. The breading was nice and light and not too crispy, and the chicken itself was very fresh and tender. The sauce was nothing special, but the chicken was tasty and didn't need much. The meal came with a little side salad as well. I'm used to macaroni salad with katsu, but greens were a nice change. It was good I had some filling rice to accompany the chicken since the portion is on the small side. Overall, kind, attentive service with a smile, and quality food in a spotless environment. A meal with a drink is somewhere around $15, so a little pricey given the small-ish portion of chicken, but I'll always come back for fresh, quality food.

There are tables across from the kitchen, upstairs and at the front window. Probably not best for large groups but 2-3 max. My initial order of the katsu curry was unfortunately cut short as they did not have rice prepared. This was a surprise, however given I came after the lunch rush, they are still finding their footing. The server recommended the katsu burger which I had some hesitation it would be dry given there was no curry sauce. Boy was I wrong! The chicken was breaded and fried into a juicy fillet with katsu sauce and yellow mustard that paired well like an old married couple. There was plenty of flavour in that burger! The fries that accompanied it were good and had some light seasoning on it. However I would recommend they provide some type of dipping sauce if you don't get the curry. Upon leaving, the owner opened the door and thanked me for my purchase. This was for takeaway and a very nice gesture. I see great potential for this place and look forward to returning to try more on the menu, as soon as that rice is ready!
