This place seems to be getting a bad rap, so I'm gonna stick up for it for various reasons.
Yes it's a franchise and no I don't like them as a general rule. But, let's be serious for a moment. Just like you don't goto a Fast & Furious movie for intricate/complex movie narrative/plot lines but for pure unadulterated adrenaline rush. You don't goto Nandos for a Mitchellin star restaurent experience! There isn't supposed to BE any customer service! It's a very simple procedure: get table, order food, eat food, Go! Anyone expecting to be treated like royalty for paying £15 for an entire grilled chicken with two sides and two free refill drinks is just deluded!
Nandos is a glorified sit in takeaway that do grilled chicken! (That's not meant to be a put down) The lack of pretence and the simplicity of the concept is the reason for its unprecedented success! It's the reason why the biggest waiting line in the Orient is almost always here. People know EXACTLY what they're getting and it's great value for money. And you know what? It tastes pretty damn good! It's a much better option than the vomit inducing Maccy D's/Burger Kings/KFCs of this world that serve plastic cancer and time ticking (heart disease) health bombs!
Nandos are EVERYWHERE and as a raging foodie who loves variety, there's plenty of room for Nandos in my heart and bellydrum! So I'll keep on playing the Nandos beat!
PS the only varying feature of Nandos ofcourse is the decor which admittedly (whilst being of a similar theme in each restaurent) can vary. This one is fairly simplistic. The best one I've chicken meal plattered in (Ive sampled a fair few of them in the UK ;) has to be the Wakefield branch (Yorkshire) Although once upon A time on a Sunday drive/adventure in the middle of nowhere in Wales I remember discovering one. It was a miraculous foodie oasis!
In short, if you don't like Nandos, good for you, each to their own. Difference of opinion is good in all walks of life, and that's fine! I can't stand Keira Knightly for example. And on that unrelated note... Over aNandout! read more
