Danito's

Danito's

I visited with a small group of friends last night (a Saturday). It was relatively busy on entering…read moreand there was a welcoming ambience to the place. Some friends were already seated, so we sat down straight away, there apparently being no one to greet. The young staff were engaging, although a little slow to note that new customers had arrived and furnish the necessary menus and take drink orders. (NB bad marks for having no draught beers; all bottles). The menu was standard Italian cuisine with the usual collection of starters, pizza, pasta & entrées, although I disappointingly didn't spot any veal. The food came within an almost acceptable timescale and they did make a major error with one of my friend's order, bringing out steak instead of his ordered trout. It was soon rectified, although he did have to wait for his side order to then be fulfilled. I had the mussels to start and they were tasty enough. One had a bit of grit, I'm afraid, and that really is unforgivable when cooking professionally. For my entrée I had a simple spicy pizza that, to my wizened taste buds, simply wasn't hot or spicy enough. My main criticism of Danito's? The portions were a bit stingy. Thinking back, no one came and asked any of my dining companions if they wanted any black pepper or Parmesan, either. I suppose, if they had, they could have asked but The sweet menu was non-existent and the owner simply rattled off a choice of about four. I threw him a bit and asked why there was no cheese board but, full credit, one eventually appeared although it did take a little while and I suspect it was done especially. Overall, we were pleased with our visit to Danito's and it certainly eclipses the other Italian offerings in the vicinity by far. There could be a bit more attention to the little things (and bigger portions!) to make this unpolished gem really sparkle. Our meal came to £30 a head for 3 courses with drinks and tip, which wasn't cheap but didn't leave a sour taste in the mouth, either.

It was pleasantly busy on a Wednesday night at about 9pm, with two other tables of four and six,…read moreand us two. Staff brought over menus and gave us the heads up that it's BYOB. They didn't mention a corkage fee and I didn't notice one on the bill, although another reviewer has said it's 10%. We paid just over £35 for burrata, two (huge) pizzas, and tiramisu.

Ok was the pizza and dips delicious? Yes of course. The reason for this bad review was the service…read morethough. We had a horrible service experience via Deliveroo this Thursday. We ordered on Deliveroo at 7:50 pm and the estimated delivery time was 30 - 60 minutes. As the hour approached (the latest the delivery should have been) the app said that the restaurant was still making our order. The app continued to extend the delivery time until we had been waiting two hours and fifteen and the restaurant was due to close. At this point the Deliveroo rider had been waiting at the restaurant for 15 minutes. We were growing increasingly anxious that we wouldn't get our food (that they would cancel the order) and then we wouldn't be able to get food because it was getting so late. The app had no way to contact the restaurant, but said to call the restaurant directly. I tried to call the restaurant multiple times and recieved both line busy messages and had my calls be hung up on. We called repeatedly and repeatedly got no answer. Finally, at 10:25 the rider got our pizza (2.5 hours after we had ordered), but we didn't get to eat until 10:40... A bit frustrating. Like I said, the food is good, but the lack of timeliness, the lack of communication... it was incredibly unprofessional and honestly anxiety inducing. At least have a message on your restaurant number. And if you're SO busy you can't do delivery... don't offer it as an option.

Came here with a friend for a catch up. Great food at great prices. We were slightly disappointed…read morethat they had run out of a couple of ingredients that were, in my opinion, needed in the dish. Additionally, once served our first drink and meal we did not see our server again. As you pay via phone they never came to drop a bill off. Sadly this left us with no drinks for the second half of our meal. Overall a satisfactory lunch

Disclaimer: ELH doesn't often do chains. But heck, Zizzi is a chain worth doing. Chain-wise you're…read morespoilt for choice when it comes to a shopping trip in the Trafford Centre, with some interesting localised options thrown in like ChaoBaby and Rice. But trundle we did across this mecca of restaurants, and Zizzi seemed to do the opposing options we were in the mood for - pizza and salad. Immediately we noticed just how sweet our server was, who instantly grabbed us our drinks and was very friendly and polite. It's actually laid out very nicely as Trafford Centre restaurants go, and veggies won't be hard pushed to find some great choices on the menu either. I opted for a superfood salad with puy lentils, butternut squash, goat's cheese, ribboned courgette and myriad other delicious ingredients. My companion chose a rustic pizza with some pepperoni and chillies, and we went for some garlic bread with cheese as well - I was intrigued by the fact that it came topped with caramelised onions. Oh, what a treat. When the food arrived the portions were staggeringly huge, putting to rest any talk of perhaps having gone to TGI Friday's just for the sheer heck and decandence of it. And that garlic bread was the star of the show. Flatbread smothered with tasty cheese and herbs and topped with onions that had clearly been caramelised in balsamic vinegar, just heavenly. My salad was amazing and the pepperoni pizza looked delicious and surprisingly authentic, with a thin crisp crust and plentiful topping. All in all, I felt it was indeed as good as it gets, a chain that clearly has high standards across the board. It only missed out on a fifth star because the drink glasses were so small!
