A new venue for Birmingham, alongside the Airport and NEC.
There a few discount outlet shops and a plethora of eateries throughout, with good views of the lake. I liked the idea that this place has a hotel and Spa, if you do want to make a weekend of it.
I visited today with family to go for a meal at Robata Bar & Grill, and the service was rubbish, although the food was ok, and not too bad. We had to remind several waiters many times for drinks, our starters, the sauces!, if we could order more drinks after not being asked upto an hour later.. As they ran out of ingredients to make our 1st round of cocktails and we were told they had to fetch them from the cellar, we were given them for free! A nice touch.
You get the impression, they just don't have experienced staff, or, staff who know anything about the food they're serving.
Tgi Friday is also on the water front, so we went into there for decent cocktails after, and were surprised. Quick and friendly service, and a motorbike in view when you walk in, this place was heaving. Try the 'Purple rain' cocktail, just yum. We finished these off with sundaes, the cookies & cream 1 is very nice.
Although a nice place overall, with good facilities, they need to put a lot more effort into service! Soon. read more
