Beware: The cash machines outside Tesco have been targeted by crooks many times - use the one outside Coventry Building Society instead, it's got a CCTV camera trained right on it! Parking can be a nightmare at the weekend, but there is another carpark around the back you can use.

It was a short walk, the lake was pretty. We chose Zizzi's as it looked like a fun Italian choice (we later learned this place was a chain restaurant, so that was a bummer). I'll write up my restaurant reviews in detail on their pages instead, but in short, the places we ate all all seemed to be short staffed, in a rush, and not very open to service. We ate at Karaage also. Everything was pretty overpriced, especially when we considered the escape room option. They have a 'sky garden' that wasn't very impressive. And being an American visitor, I was eager to try anything but American cuisine, but half of what Resorts World offered was American cuisine. Overall I wouldn't recommend Resorts World, but if you're staying at the Hilton nearby, boy, this place really is your only dinner option.

If shopping is more of your thing, there are many Outlet stores with brands including Nike, Next and The North Face, the selection of stores isn't too impressive although it is a welcome addition as this isn't designed for shopping, and is an entertainment complex after all. It is over multiple floors, I did find the layout to be confusing, I do feel more of a plan could be helpful, I did notice a couple of people wandering around and looking confused, in and out of lifts/escalators. The building is owned by Genting, who run the casino here. Resorts World can still be seen as a family complex, as you can still walk around the complex without having to go through the casino. 4* - Resorts World is a great addition to the surrounding area and Birmingham as a whole, it's a pretty cool place despite the issues mentioned.

The staff are friendly and helpful which is always good, and the store is always clean and tidy and well organised, which makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. The returns policy isnt great so be careful with that. Also, the service can be poor when busy and the prices can be quite expensive compared to other places such as on the internet, so dont expect it to be the cheapest place to go to, because it isnt. We went there to spend wedding vouchers and were pleased to find it had a big range of products ranging from electrical goods to clothes and jewellery. It wasn't too crowded and the staff were really helpful in sorting out transferring our individual wedding giftcards on to one card. We will definitely go back to this Debenhams as it was so easy to be able to shop and then nip back to the car to drop the goods off before continuing shopping elsewhere.

There are also cash tills all over the store, so if one queue is super long, just head to another level and find one that isn't. The customer service here is either really great or good. But I've never experienced anyone who didn't care about me or was rude. There are no toilets, but the Starbucks across the way might let you use theirs. Some hidden seating for The Spouse... but best to go alone or have them meet you towards the end of your shop. Pros: fresh food market hall downstairs, proper cafe upstairs, click and collect, M&S quality products, mens, womens, and children's clothing, and M&S has started their own rewards Sparks card. Located in the mall, so there's a parking garage from the elevators. Cons: quite small, very small feeling in fact, old flooring and lighting, needs a new coat of paint, cafe looks really outdated, poorly laid out, and their clothing selection mostly caters here for the elderly. And the toilets are super old and half of the time are never functioning. I heard that most of Coventry City Center will be knocked down and rebuilt, and I think if this place wants to stand a chance against the new high class shops arriving within the next few years, then corporate better offer a full face lift, expansion, and start catering towards the University Students. Sadly, I wouldn't really call it a shopping centre, more of a thoroughfare with a few shops in it. It's not much better than what stood before it - the Queens Arcade. The Ropewalk, when it first opened was new and exciting - for all of a year, then the recession hit and it all went down hill. I don't believe the Ropewalk has ever been full to capacity with shops, there are always empty or closed down shops, one of them being the large JJB Sports that hasn't been filled since it closed. Nuneaton is where I was born and raised, and to be honest it does sadden me that the town really doesn't have much to offer any more other than charity shops and pound stores... The ropewalk has a decent sized BHS, but the centre never seems busy. It's a shame because the Ropewalk could have been a good attraction for Nuneaton as for getting people to come here to shop, but it never really quite happened.
