Nancy Jenkins' team represented the sellers in our home purchase, and our experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Shortly after moving into the home, we discovered extensive concealed material defects that have ultimately cost us over $100,000 in repairs. We found black mold in the basement that appeared to have been deliberately hidden through fresh paint and the removal of carpeting. We also uncovered severe water damage stemming from a second-story balcony, which caused significant structural deterioration in the primary bedroom. The damage was so extensive that we had to completely remove the balcony and replace the rim joist and other structural framing that had rotted away. Much of this damage had been concealed with new trim, siding, and other cosmetic updates designed to mask the underlying problems. We also found newly installed trim covering rotten sheathing, with no building wrap behind it. To make matters worse, when our inspector identified several issues that had not been successfully concealed, Nancy Jenkins' team recommended that we obtain repair estimates from the homeowner's personal contractor, stating that they trusted him. We later discovered that this same contractor had performed much of the work used to hide the defects and provided estimates that dramatically understated the true cost of the repairs. We relocated from Colorado and put our trust in the professionals involved in this transaction. Instead, we inherited a home with extensive hidden damage and an overwhelming financial burden. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Nancy Jenkins Real Estate. We found the level of transparency and ethics throughout this transaction deeply disappointing. If zero stars were an option, that is the rating I would give. read more

We highly recommend Kristin Ouellette, a consummate professional, and the team at Nancy Jenkins. We have had many property transactions over the years and this was the best. We arrived in Vermont the end of October 2020 during COVID19, having never visited before and determined to make this our forever home. Finding Ms. Ouellette was the result of a cold call after reading many reviews about realtors. She got back to us immediately and then it was an almost daily exchange of information as she familiarized herself with our needs and presented options. Our first contract revealed many problematic conditions as we did our due diligence. We terminated the contract and the sellers became belligerent. The team at Nancy Jenkins added their amazing knowledge to the problem in support of Ms. Ouellette. We were referred to additional professionals as necessary and the problem was resolved. We moved seamlessly to another purchase contract thanks to Kristin's focus and confidence. That contract was smooth sailing and we closed on the property early. I highly recommend this team, and particularly Kristin Ouellette - our first Vermonter friend. Thank you Kristin! read more

Well... we moved away from Burlington and are now in Indianapolis. Hopefully, we are rooted now. When we left, that house we bought with Alison's help... we sold it. Guess who we called to sell it - Alison Barges of the Nancy Jenkins group. See below for more details.... We worked with Alison, Carol, Kelsey, Joanna during this transaction (I am sure there were more in the background as well). The team at Nancy Jenkins was professional, attentive, honest, and simply put - excellent to work with. Prior to listing our home, Alison worked up the best price for our home. She met us at our home and explained the reasoning for the listing price and the method used to calculate that price. It was presented perfectly. It made sense and was right on. It very thorough and well thought out. It showed the science behind coming up with that perfect listing price. After listing, the team reached out to us, introducing themselves, explaining their role. The communication could not have been better. It was both proactive and reactive. Meaning, they reached out to us first. And, whenever there was a question on our part or something needed for the listing or sale, they were on it! The team's response was quick, complete and accurate. Overall, I would suggest the Nancy Jenkins team to everyone. We have used them to both buy and sell. When you work with this team, you will see why they are number 1! This team knows Vermont and they know real estate. When you work with Nancy Jenkins, it is a relief knowing you have a strong team working for you keeping your needs and best interest as number one priority! read more

I am beyond thankful that I purchased my home with Alison Barges of Nancy Jenkins Real Estate. She was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and worked hard to ensure that our transaction was closed as efficiently as possible. As a newcomer to Vermont, the real estate process is a bit different than what I was used to and Alison took the time to not only walk me through all of those differences, but she also worked in concert with all the others players in my transaction to make sure we were all on the same page. Alison is dedicated to supporting her clients in any way she can. The staff at Nancy Jenkins are awesomely kind, professional, and helpful. The reputation of Nancy and her team does truly not disappoint. read more

After a terrible experience with another real estate company, I was so lucky to find Amanda at Nancy Jenkins team. Her and the entire staff are a class act ... from their marketing to their presentation, their photographs for my listing, all of it was phenomenal. Night and day from the previous realtor who botched my sale while I had written offers. I highly recommend Amanda and Nancy Jenkins, I couldn't be happier. Thank you! read more

We recently purchased a home in the area, and after interviewing a few relators at various agencies we really clicked with Alison. Working with her was an extreme pleasure, like working with a friend and a real partner, it truly felt like she was on our side and working entirely for our interests. Her communication was always prompt and thorough. We had come from out of state and she made it feel like we were her only clients. She was on top of every detail, and during the viewings she had hawk eyes and could spot extremely subtle but important details that really helped us a lot. In the past we've worked with multiple other relators for other home transactions and always felt like they were more of a hindrance than a help, but in this case even though the house we ended up buying was being sold by owner and we had to pay a portion of the commission out of pocket, we felt like every penny was well spent. Being a by-owner sell, that had some complications on the sealler's side there were many more details to worry about than usual, but she stayed on top of all of them, helping to push them through, and kept us well apprised. She gave us many referrals for various services and every referral was also great. We highly recommend the Nancy Jenkins team, and especially Alison. read more

We recently purchased our dream home in Williston. It honestly took us over 1 year to find the right home and Alison from Nancy Jenkins was there every step of the way. I searched for 6 months in a tough market, but my agent Lori did most of the work. I got a nice place in a nice area and was very happy with what I purchased. The agent was thorough, professional, and a great advocate for my interest. It's hard to find a place these days, but Lori was persistent and hard working. And all of my needs were met, in terms of what I was looking for. I will use them every time, and they are highly recommended, for their professionalism, honesty, and diligence. I enjoyed working with the entire team. read more

A very short-notice employment opportunity lead to my family and I moving out of state, about a four hour drive away. I had made plans to do some minor renovations over the course of a few months, and then move to selling. Things didn't quite go as planned unfortunately, and bills were really starting to pile up and paying a mortgage on a house I wasn't living in got less attractive by the day. I found myself panicking wondering what to do. I googled a few realtors, and not really knowing the process or how selling a house works, I just figured I'd try and choose a firm with a good reputation. It is hard to choose a realtor with so many available, and when you see so many beautiful multi-million dollar houses for sale it's easy to be concerned that maybe you won't be their most important customer. I couldn't have been more wrong. Enter Nancy Jenkins and her team. Shortly after filling out the form on the site I received a call from Alison Barges. I was immediately struck by her warm and compassionate nature as she introduced herself and asked me some questions about the property and my situation. She understood the stress I was feeling, and she made it clear that she was going to work just as hard for me as any other client, and after a little more extended conversation about the state of the market and some other particulars I was feeling far more confident about the whole situation. She kept her promises and immediately went to work doing her research, checking out the house, helping guide me on the best way to use my limited time and resources to prepare the house, and went ahead with getting the listing together. All of this without even meeting in person. Communication was frequent and thorough and I was kept apprised at every step. I can't stress enough how much easier all of this was made because of Alison's personality and work ethic. She was always available and I always felt 100% better about whatever topic was being discussed after getting off the phone. She really is an absolute pleasure to work with. Finally, after receiving and accepting an offer (which happened extremely quickly I will add, owing I'm sure to Alison and the team's marketing and pricing strategies being right on point) I then was introduced to Carol who took the wheel through the closing process. Again, just as with Alison, communication was expedient and thorough; I was never left wondering what I needed to do and there were zero hiccups. I can now say with confidence that whether you're selling a fancy lake house or a tiny bungalow you will feel like the Nancy Jenkins team is working for you and you alone. I honestly can't think of a single thing that could have improved this process or made it any easier. They did all the hard stuff, they helped me make some good informed decisions, and the outcome was far better than I had anticipated. It may be a huge cliche to say this, but I really couldn't be happier. read more

So our experience was a while ago, but we used Nancy and her team 3 times. When it comes to knowing what to do to sell a house or to get you the house you want, Nancy absolutely knows what she is doing. We tried several different realtors in the area before coming to Nancy. We were extremely impressed with the method and process that she use to determine the right price to list a house at, how to market it, when it is time to adjust the price, and lastly negotiating the sale of the house. If you're looking for a realtor and not sure who to use, ask her to come out and take you through the process she uses and ask other realtors for how they determine these things. I've never seen a realtor that is this methodical about coming up with that magical first listing price (which can really screw things up things right from the start even if everything else is perfect). that combined with thei extremely aggressive marketing to get your listing in to the hands of as many prospective buyers as possible in as short a time as possible usually leads to a fast sale at a price that is a couple percent higher than what the others can offer. In addition, (at least when we used her), she really had things well thougth out in terms of the services she offered, which included ih-house financing and a moving truck for loan (for free) for local moves. She and her team made things so easy that once you have used her, you become really a bit spoiled when you move away and have to use someone else! The one thing that you need to be ready for is that she and her team move at about light speed compared t most real estate agents, so once you engage, you better be ready to get your house in basically perfect (show-ready) condition and keep it there until you've got a signed contract. That takes a lot more work than some peopel maey realize before getting into it. read more

Alison Barges with Nancy Jenkins showed me all around Chittenden Country one weekend to look at homes. Although I didn't buy that weekend, she and I learned a lot about what I was looking for, and we had a lot of fun. Since I was house hunting from out of state, she was able to go and see promising homes at a moment's notice, and so when my home did come up, we were on it! She was the first in the see it and we had it under contract within 24 hours. She was hugely helpful advising me through the details of my first home purchase. And the Nancy Jenkins office was amazing at helping me navigate a few financing bumps along the way. I had a wonderful experience with Alison and Nancy Jenkins Real Estate. I absolutely plan to work with them with any home selling/buying I do in the future. read more

We bought our house a year ago and have nothing but fond memories & highest appraisal for Alison's abilities/skill in the business. Alison was exceptional and definitely saved us 10-20% on our final payment. It's very weird to admit this -- I came in thinking we'd do FSBO or Redfin having never bought a house and being skeptical of the commissions involved in the realty business. And in a marathon weekend of house visiting in Burlington/Colchester/Williston with Alison and Kristen, and hearing about a vast number of Alison's anecdotes from decades of house buying-selling, we developed a pretty awesome intuition of how real estate works in this market. We didn't know much about valuations here or anywhere, and we didn't know how to spot recent flips versus real value, and Alison presented a coherent view (that turned out to be very accurate) about valuation and what people's limits would be. She was also exceptional at some last minute negotiation, and now I recommend her and I'm a convert to my friends about the values of the realty profession. A year out, couldn't imagine a better, no-nonsense, real-talk, fast-paced experience, and we're living in our dream house that we only had the ability to spend a weekend looking for. read more

I've worked with Alison Barges at the Nancy Jenkins team multiple times over the past few years. I would never use or recommend a different realtor. From start to finish, Alison is professional, available, kind, thorough, knowledgeable and always puts her clients' best interests first. I've also recommended her to friends who were buying their first home, and they had a wonderful experience. Alison is always patient, informed, and she handles the ups and downs of home shopping with complete grace. My wife and I were looking to buy in the Burlington area because we had just taken a new job. This was going to be our first house so we sought out recommendations and Alison Barges was the first person recommended. We could honestly not have been happier. Being from the Burlington area she knows it very well. She was always easy to reach, answered all of our numerous questions, and masterfully guided us through a the home-buying market and process. She met with us via phone before we moved to the area and went through our wants/needs and had developed a plan of action that included seeing some 25-35 homes/condos. By making herself available for numerous long days she was able to help us immediately become familiar with the area and feel comfortable with where we wanted to live. Because she thoroughly explained the process when it came to our first bid we felt comfortable with the situation. We ended up in multiple offer situation on our bid, and through Alison's local knowledge and availability we were able to win the bid and still come in below the appraisal value. I would definitely look to Alison again for future home buying or selling! read more

My husband and I worked directly with Nancy in 2013 to sell our home in Bolton, and would recommend her whole-heartedly to other sellers. She is deeply knowledgeable about the Chittendon county market, thinks strategically about selling, and provided us with clear and direct advice throughout the entire process. Her office provides lots of ancillary services, and Benton, her photographer, did a wonderful job taking pictures of our home for the listing. read more

Horrible transaction! I purchased a new build through Nancy Jenkins, from a builder her team assured me was trusted and did quality work. He did all but that! I had flooding multiple times in my basement after I moved in, which he "patched up" the problem. I finished my basement and had to replace the flooring several times, myself out of pocket. I have cracks in my foundation and slab that apparently are not under warranty. I had my well pump stop working. Come to find out the builder Craig McDonald put an underpowered well pump in my home, was a 3/4 hp when it should have been a 1 hp. Also not covered. Noisy shower drains that were again "patched up" by using spray foam. Very very disappointed in this team. I've reached out to them many times and they don't seem to care. They got the sale and that's all that matters with them. After all that's happened, all the issues I've had with this BRAND NEW home, Nancy Jenkins continues to sell new homes for Craig McDonald. Unsure as to why she would still associate with such an unprofessional builder is beyond me. Like I said at the end of the day all she cares about is closing a deal. Stay far away from this company, they do not back their product and could care less about the buyer! read more
