After nine days of intense walking from traveling around, going to a stretching type of yoga class was perfect for us. The class was pretty full for a Friday night, which is a testament of how fantastic the instructor is. We also really enjoyed how there was a lounge in the front of the studio, where you can just hang out and relax. We arrived early and were able to unwind on the couch before class started.

Great staff and facilities - but crowded, expensive and borderline scammy…read more If you read all the 4- and 5-star reviews on here who talk about the staff and facilities, they're right. The staff are awesome, though I've only ever worked with Shamir. He's patient and understanding, and he drives his classes hard (which is good). After class he'll sit and talk to people about their experiences and offer advice. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the crowd, the pricing, and the cancellation policy. To be fair, I go to the Sunday afternoon class, but it's so crowded that you often touch the people next to you when you're doing a wide pose. It's nearly wall-to-wall people. Plus all the additional people make the room even hotter and more humid. I almost passed out last class and went through my entire 32oz water bottle. People were dropping out of the poses like flies. The costs are nuts. A drop-in class and towel/mat rental come to 275dkk... for an hour-long class. Maybe this is standard for hot yoga in Denmark, but it felt unreasonable to me. I signed up for the membership thinking it would be cheaper, per class. I see other reviews about a 14-day trial period, but I wasn't offered that. The once-per-week class is ~480 and I bought my own mat at Tiger. The mats they have there are expensive - I remember the towels they have running 400dkk but forget the mat purchase price. And lastly, the cancellation. I'm moving to another gym because work gives me a discount. There is a cancellation fee at HYC of 89dkk, AND you must pay for another month. I was not told this when I signed up for the membership, because I assumed they would be more customer-friendly. So it's almost the end of August, and I have to pay for all of September as well. I went back and asked for my membership to end at the end of August (since I didn't know if have to pay for an extra month), and the email reply was like "I'm sorry you were unaware of our cancellation policy." ...ARE you sorry? I feel like there's no technical reason for them to be unable to end my membership in August, right? I mean you just hit a key and it's done. They have it specifically built that you must wait a month. It's very frustrating. Either way, I suppose I'll ride out my month and keep sweating it out before I say goodbye.

After years of wanting to try Bikram yoga, today I finally crossed it off my bucket list! I…read moreattended the weekly donation class which cost me 50 DKK for the donation and an additional 25DKK to rent a matt (I brought my own fast drying towel). When entering, it is fairly clear that one should remove their shoes. There are plenty of places to put them. The woman at the front desk was wonderful and helped me get settled and sign the waivers. Once I was squared away, I went into the locker room to put my things down. The studio provides a space with open showers and body soap that smells wonderful. In the past I have not done much yoga nor has it been something that I've really enjoyed when I have done it. However, as a dancer, I thought this would give me a great opportunity to try something new and stretch out. Before entering the studio, the instructor, Markus, has a quick conversation with me and my friend. Since we were both doing bikram for our first time, he gave has a heads up on what to expect and what we should do should we feel unwell in any way. We entered the studio a few minutes before class to get settled in. Immediately, when I entered the studio, I was taken aback by the horrendous smell. Still, excited, I found a place in the second row alongside my friend. (It was a small class tonight--just 6 of us plus the instructor). Markus had a good balance between being demanding, giving corrections, and keeping the class on track. I do think, however, that he could do a better job making his yoga class calming while maintaining the rigor. His quick and repetitive way of speaking--although effective for teaching--was not at all relaxing. I would consider returning and trying bikram again sometime in the semi-near future.

I would recomend to anyone who enjoys yoga of any sort. They stick by the traditional bikram dialogue, all in english, and they are very welcoming. They make a big effort to learn newcomer names and integrate you into the class. The studio is spotless and the changing locker and shower is really quite nice. There is a sauna available to yogis as well (though I dont know who in their right mind would leave a 90 minute extrenuous class in a 105 degree room to seek refuge in another equally hot room).... highly reccomended studio!

Can anyone come up with a cooler, more creative, or more spiritual place to chant om and practice…read moreyour asanas than an actual church? Seriously, this place used to be a church, and it's got the coolest vibe! Two practice rooms completely equipped for Iyengar practice (mats, bolsters, belts, wall hooks, chairs, back bend benches) + a super cool lounge area downstairs where you can change and hang out after class. They also have a small boutique with some props, mats and occasionally, cool t-shirts. All with the level of instruction you can expect from a very experienced team of Iyengar teachers. If you have never been to an Iyengar Yoga class, you can expect a very precise practice with emphasis on correct alignment. Also, Iyengar instructors go through the lengthiest and most rigorous process to get certified, and that alone is a guarantee of their level of professionalism and involvement. If you are new to yoga, you owe it to yoursel to try this place. Their beginner's classes are some of the most accessible I've come across (specially Claus's, who is truly a talented teacher). All classes are either bilingual or held 100% in English, which is very appreciated by this girl who doesn't yet speak enough Danish. P.S. When you have finished your class, you might want to reward yourself with a fresh squezed juice from the place next door (Njoy). Yummy in my tummy!
