She gets things into the insurance quickly and you get in. Over all it is an ok office. Just stay away from Vanessa.

If fact, he did not even know they were in the file until he looked for them while we sat there. He still did not read them or even look at the CT. He dismissed us with the recommendation we see a cardiologist. We made an appointment with a cardiologist. Ten days later, as we waited for the appointment with the cardiologist, my husband was admitted to ICU where he stayed for three weeks, followed with three more weeks in general med/serg. It was entirely a lung condition the doctor overlooked, an abscess which ruptured. I will not share further gory details, but one of the hospital doctors said they had not expected my husband to survive. No, I do not recommend this doctor at all.

However, when I arrived, I was told that they don't actually go by appointment times -- the online system is only used to check you in and verify insurance. Patients are still seen in the order they arrive, regardless of their scheduled time. If the online system is simply for pre-registration, that should be clearly communicated. It's frustrating to be told to make an appointment to avoid waiting, only to find out that you still have to wait just like a walk-in. Transparency about how the process really works would make a big difference.

Doc was supposed to be back from his break at 7pm but rolled in at 7:20 (8pm is closing time). They won't call in your prescription, you have to physically drop it off. Let's face it, you're going to urgent care because your regular doctor can't see you soon enough or it's after hours. Avalon gets the job done if you just need some meds and you get there early enough. Tips: Call first to make sure the doctor's break isn't coming up (he's the only doc there). Expect to wait at least an hour. You can wait outside for fresh air and they will get you. Don't cut it too close if your pharmacy is closing soon. I arrived at 6:30pm, was out of there by 7:45pm, made it to Vons pharmacy by 7:55, and by some miracle they filled my prescription by 8pm closing, but only because I begged (it was for my sick little boy). That was unnecessarily stressful because I waited to the last minute to go, hoping my kiddo would improve. Avalon is the only local urgent care that takes my insurance, otherwise I might go elsewhere where the doctor is friendlier. But given my limited options, I make the best of it.
