Got a french gel-x and found it to be a little pricey for what I got and the quality I got. I asked for them to be short due to the work I do and I feel they were still pretty long. When I brought this up to the nail tech she didn't acknowledge it. I let her finish what she was doing. Watch out when they start asking if you want things done (cuticle removal) as it is an extra charge of $10. I was not told this when I asked her how much it would be. I thought a cuticle removal would be included in the service as it is elsewhere. The top coat gel had little bubbles/ holes in it so I'm guessing it wasn't applied in an even layer. I reached out to the manager and spoke with her and she did offer to have me come back in to get it fixed, but I don't live in the area, so it would have been tough to go back. I'm appreciative she tried to help reconcile the issue. read more

I received a gel pedicure and manicure with eye brow and lip waxing . I also treated my daughter to a gel manicure and a regular pedicure, with eye brow wax. The total was $300, huh? This is not what was verbally quoted I believe... but paid anyway with tips in addition to the $300 was close to $400 ....as I didn't want to make a scene at the salon. This is why I am writing this review: Maybe it's fine to charge for quality service , but my gel nails were soooo soft or something went wrong on the coating that it was nicked pretty bad in a couple hours and was already gone out of town and from the area so could t go back. As for my pedicure, the toe nails all have different shapes and nothing was done about my calluses.... After a couple days, I needed to go to another salon to fix everything so that I look decent for a wedding. With the amount I paid, I have a feeling they up charged me but nevertheless I expected better quality of service. Go elsewhere. read more

Eh... I wanted to try due to the good reviews I read and it's really super close to me. As she (manicurist) was finishing my (gel) manicure, I can already tell it wasn't gonna last long as it was thick, especially on the tips. As I write this less than a week of my service, sure enough, the tip of my index finger has already chipped. The girl who did my nail was also rough when she was pushing my cuticles. As for my pedicure, the lady barely scrubbed my feet to remove the callus, and she also almost forgot my paraffin wax treatment. I was so envious of the lady next to me (who is a regular) who gets the owner to do her manicure and a lady who was scrubbing the hell out of her feet during her pedicure. I was really hoping to like this place. But I can't afford to do my manicure weekly if they aren't gonna last very long, nor can I afford to keep trying to see who in there does and doesn't do a good job. read more

I have gel manicures and the first time I did my nails here it was good, the next few times I did it, the gel would chip after a couple of days. I'm going to give a very honest, logical and straight forward review. 1. Chipped nails: lack of quality and consistency 2. Only accepts cash, Venmo or Zelle 3. Not a pleasant or relaxing environment So if we are spending $80-200 and receive points or benefits from cards, that doesn't matter. She doesn't want to pay the 3% credit card charge. There are many nail salons that are much more experienced, pleasant, and accept all forms of payment. Moreover, I wanted to support Mimi's new business but I found myself stressed every time I was there, instead of being relaxed, I always felt stressed. Mimi is very stressed out ALL THE TIME!! She never smiles she never says nice words she's overworked and under managed. I want to note that the minimum I tipped was $10-15 each person. I gave her 2 stars just because I felt bad for her. Another issue is she has a difficult time accepting responsibility for her mistakes with me and I have witnessed it with others as well. I wouldn't recommend this nail salon. Images show chipped nails and broken nails only after a couple of days. There are far too many nail salons that cover 1, 2, and 3 mentioned above. I wouldn't recommend this nail salon. read more

First time customer to Nails by Mimi and what a beautiful hidden gem. The salon is located right next to the new Joann's in Laguna Niguel. The interior and ambience is peaceful and relaxing. Such a refreshing salon to go to if you want to just zen out. ALANA did my mani and CINDY did my pedi. Both ladies were professional and gave me the best treatment I've had in a while. I used to go to a salon out in Mission Viejo but the drive became too much for a mani/pedi. The price for gel mani is $40 and for pedi it's $50. Well worth it! I've coming to Nails By Mimi for a few months now and I love it! Most recently Natalie did my manicure and it's been my favorite experience so far. I've been trying different things each time and Natalie helped educate me. She did hard gel and helped me pick a color by painting a couple on a fake nail. The pics of the red rose glitter nails are hard gel with gel polish. My previous nails were gel x with gel polish and Halloween design. Reading the other reviews, I want to acknowledge a couple of times ago I got a gel manicure by possibly the same young man mentioned, and it was not a great manicure. Appointments mean nothing here. They don't honor them and say come back in an hour even after getting a babysitter for the first time ever and trying to pamper yourself. Best to go across the street, they took me as a walk in after dealing with the rude girl here who doesn't know customer service or how to say a simple sorry. It's a very serene atmosphere. Mimi cuts no corners when it comes to cleanliness, high quality products and staff. Mimi is meticulous and prides herself in quality work... she has consistently given me a fantastic gel mani....no one else touches my nails!! Cindy has done my pedicures since I first became a customer . This is the pedicure you dream of, several different options, I get the wine pedicure. It is sooo relaxing and all of the lotions , scrubs and paraffin used are wonderful. The leg massage is the best. This is definitely the best nail salon around! read more

Had the citrus pedicure and gel manicure. Gel manicure was okay, but they did nothing to shape my nails. They left them as is and did not straighten the crooked ones or fix the length. All nails were different lengths. Pedicure was just awful. The cuticle on my big toe was cut badly and bleed all throughout the pedicure and afterwards. I couldn't relax and enjoy the rest of the pedicure because I was in a lot of pain. There's dirt stuck in the polish on the toe that was cut and other toes have corners missing polish. Nails by Mimi was a huge disappointment and I would recommend everyone to go somewhere else. read more

I was referred to Nails by Mimi by a friend when I mentioned I was interested in special nail art for my upcoming travel plans. It was easy to make a reservation and I even received confirmations and reminders via text. I really respect how professional the business is. Upon arriving at the nail salon, I was instantly impressed by the high ceiling and clean classy bright interior. They have 8 spa chairs, which makes them great for appointments with friends and no worries about getting rushed off the chair to welcome the next customer. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment, but I was still welcomed in and given colors to choose from and champagne to unwind. Definitely what I needed after a long day of work. They have an incredible selection of over 1000 nail polish and gels to pick from, and about 700 dip powders. A perfect shade for all preferences. I simultaneously enjoyed a Honey & Milk Gel Manicure with designs by Mimi and a Champagne Extravaganza Pedicure with Cindy. Not to mention the amazing massage chair kneading my backside. These are without a doubt the most glorious nail treatments I have ever experienced. For the Honey & Milk Gel Manicure, my hands were literally soaking in fresh milk with honey and flowers. Fancyyyy! The milk has a lactic acid that naturally eats away dead skin cells and the honey forms a protective layer and also moisturizes. It was amazing to watch Mimi work. From nail cutting to shaping, so has such a good eye she had it in the shape I liked without me making any inputs. She cut my cuticle so thoroughly and skillfully with a light touch. When it was time to paint the nail, I asked her for a marble design with a black base and accents of grey and gold. It takes a skillful nail technician to paint black polish since it often smears. Mimi did it so gracefully and evenly. Then when it came time for the design, she suggested we tested a nail first to make sure the accent colors selected showed well together and that I achieved the vision I had in mind. The test nail looked amazing, but I was so surprised when she wiped it! I guess that was her "scratch paper" version. Her final version of each nail was definitely like a work of art on each nail. My nails look like real marble. When all was complete and I thought we were done, the fun was just starting. She brought over the honey scrub to exfoliate my arms, warm towels, hot paraffin wax for each hand, then a nice honey oil hand and arms massage. It was amazinggggggggg!! In parallel to all of the pampering from above, I was also enjoyed the Champagne Extravaganza Pedicure. I was literally sipping on champagne while my feet were soaking in champagne and organic herbal salts. SPOILED! This treatment is meant to detoxify your skin with antioxidants. A candle was lit up to serve as mood lighting, I'll tell you more about this in a bit. So Cindy showed me this box with 6 packets. (1) Pearl Soak - This was added to the foot soak. A timer was set to make sure that my foot soaked for an appropriate amount of time before the trimming, filing, cuticle care and a callus treatment. (2) Hydrating Cleanser - Wow my legs were getting a full cleansing treatment like a facial but for legs. The smell of the cleanser was really lovely and Cindy's hand motion applying the cleanser was like a nice massage. (3) Sugar Scrub - After the cleansing was a nice exfoliation that was once again applied with a soothing massage like motion. Then Cindy brings out paraffin wax for my feet and gently put my feet in making sure that the temperature was good for me. While my toes were getting cozy, she applied the (4) Nourishing Mask to my legs and wrapped everything up with warm towels. It was so relaxing!! After everything was cleaned off there was still the (5) Massage Gel and (6) Moisturizing Lotion packets. And don't forget the candle from before, it melted into warm massage oil and was combined with hot stones for an incredibly thorough legs and feet massage. It was phenomenal!! My toe nails were also painted black and it was executed absolute precision. My nails are looking fabulous and I am feeling incredibly relaxed. I am already getting a lot of compliments on my nails. I can't wait until my next visit with Mimi and Cindy. When I think of Nails by Mimi I think of the type of treatments sooooo luxurious that I would gift it to my friends and family so they can experience it too. I really contemplated for about a week if I should write this review or not, but decided it was my experience to share so I'm going to. When I first came to Mimi's I was truly so thrilled about the way she did my nails, the way the quality was always fantastic, and her design skills are highly impressive. If you even just look at her instagram it'll blow your mind how great she is with her designs. I never left her nail salon unhappy. Fast forward to last week I scheduled an appointment to get a full set of Gel X, Mimi was not the one to do my nails it was instead another girl which I didn't think much of. I pick the color I wanted, and she starts doing her thing, now at the end of the appointment I'm not too thrilled at all with the color of my nails or the placement, she had accidentally gotten glitter from my ring finger nail onto my middle finger which I decided to just let it go, because she had accidentally nicked my ring finger with a drill while she was trying to get the glitter off of my cuticle which then caused me to bleed and I didn't want her to cut my middle finger too by trying to drill the piece of glitter off or something. She had me wash my hands and sent me on my way. Instantly I'm unhappy with the color and how uneven the shade is between both hands, so I sent a text to Mimi explaining how I'm sorry I didn't say anything in that moment but that I got home and I really am unhappy with them. She said she saw the difference and to come back and she'll fix them. I told her I couldn't come back that same day because I had plans but I could stop by the following day after work. She agreed, and I told her I just want to change the nails entirely and do just a plain matte black. I get to the salon and she seats me next to the one that messed my nails up to begin with which I felt awkward about because I felt bad for complaining, but when you spend $75 for a service you want to look and feel good about it. Then that woman rolls her chair in front of me and grabs my hands analyzing the nails. I thought there's no way Mimi is having her work on my nails again, but I was wrong. The woman then just buffs off some of the paint, and paints over the existing color with black. Mind=blown. I left with my nails looking like I had done them at home by myself. They looked incredibly uneven still, but I just cut my losses and decided to leave and now work on finding a new salon. I have the photos below of the color I initially picked, how the color actually turned out, and then after they "fixed" them by painting over the red. We all work hard for our money, so to spend $75 on nails and for them to turn out like this is highly disappointing. And then to be told to come back and that she will fix them only to have the same woman who ruined them in the first place just paint over the already poor work is just unacceptable. read more
