I came here with a friend for a mani pedi on a Friday evening (this is her go to nail spot) and it was pretty empty. There were several technicians available. I had a hard time picking out a color (they have a great selection). The owner was nice and started helping me pick a color and I ended up with a new light orange color that has just arrived. The pedicure and gel manicure was nothing special. The girl who did my nails was sweet and easy to understand. They also do powder gel manicures here. I believe I paid around $50-60 for both. Due to my job, most gel manicures last a little under two weeks (which is almost the standard time). I was unhappy when my gel manicure started to chip after 3 days. Do not go here. I made an appointment at 12 and I had to wait almost an hour. They soaked my nails for 40mins and no one paid any attention to me. And finally, Kelly used the buffer on my nails and used the rough end on me. I started bleeding and she said "oops"... And then I asked for a bandaid for my bleeding cuticle. I love this place, took me a while to find the right salon in my neighborhood. But once I found this one, I stopped looking. All the girls are great! I see mainly Kelly now for my nails because she does powder gel and nail tape art for me but pedicures by all the other girls. I broke my nail super bad once while moving, I threw a bandaid on it and went and saw Kelly who was able to fix my painful nail so it still looked beautiful. This most recent time my powder gel manicure was cracking, not the normal, so I went back and asked Kelly, she fixed it right then and there for me. She also didn't just fix the nail in question but made sure to reinforce all the other nails too so they were strong and matched. I know a lot of reviews say they upsell, yes they do ask you if you want a longer massage or to add a chair massage. But it is a business, they are suppose to sell things! However, the massages feel great, are a good price, and if you say no they respect that. They also have a punch card, so every dollar you spend (even those added on massages) go towards rewards. For every 200 spent you can have a free manicure, save up to 400 you can get a pedicure and so on... Love this place, give it a try if you're in the neighborhood! read more

Usually very nice people, but today I went to a get a gel manicure, at around 2:30 today... there was no one in the shop, I came in and they stared at me like I was an alien until I said oh can I get gel nails. A lady named Alina did my nails but she did not speak one word to me, not a hello and it was very uncomfortable for me. Also one of my nails did not end up looking good. I ended up tipping anyway and she said thank you very quietly but no have a good day meanwhile when other people came in she was very talkative and open with them. I wonder what problem she had with me because the other ladies especially one of the manager ladies are very sweet. Not great. Stoped for a mani since close to wholefoods. Kind of grungy and divey and had a manicurist named Alina who sawed down my nails to a pointy edged square and hacked off my cuticles. Paint job was decent but the shape was all in different angles like gumbie. I also asked her to leave my bag on the hook since there wasn't anyone waiting for the seat while I dried but she ignored me and touched my bag after she blew her nose into a crumbled up paper! Do not come here! I had the worst gel manicure and pedicure of my life today. The woman who did my nails barely filed them and rushed through everything. She didn't allow my nails to cure long enough under the lamp and now my gel mani is already starting to peel. On top of that, she didn't add polish on my entire nail, leaving the edges bare and not going down to the bottom of my nail bed. At the end of it, one nail had a bubble that I had to point out which she barely fixed and I was so upset by the whole thing that I left with a gel mani that looks like it's a week old already. I was very worried about going to a nail salon during Covid, and decided to take my chances with this place. They didn't have any precautions in place; no sanitizing station, no temperature check, and I really don't think that the tools used on me we're sterilized because they were just loose in a basket next to the pedi station. There was a plastic lining in the tub which was good, and they used a new scrubbing strip for the brief callus scrub, but I was really anxious the entire time. My tech was sweet, but she missed a chunk of my nail when painting. I know these are hard times and I tipped appropriately because she did do the work, but as a salon in these times I really think they can do better and I will not be coming back. read more

This is the best nail place I've been able to find on the UES. Every person there provides exceptional service. I especially appreciate that you don't have to ask them to clean the dirt from under your nails, which for some reason is not a given at all other places I've tried. They dont chintz out on the callous removal either - they will scrub until your feet shine like a baby's bottom. read more

Got my eyebrows waxed here ...bad experience. It hurt more then usual, and the girl doing them was laughing when I winced a little. When she put the aloe on after she was done, it BURNED, like a lot. I didn't think anything of it at the time since I am sensitive usually, but they were really red and hurt for a while after. I got home and noticed I was actually burnt. The wax she used must have been too hot and literally burnt my skin. (I would put up a pic to show but I don't want my face on here.) It is the next day and the burn marks are still there and hurt. This was the most sloppy gel manicure I have ever had. The woman cut all my nails off, left bubbles under each layer, and at the end my nails were all stuck to my fingers. She was also incredibly rough the entire time making my experience painfully frustrating. She was unprofessional and pushed and pulled me around. They have cut my foot twice and left the callus remover on so long now my skin is burning The woman next to me tried 4 times to ask for the water to be hot the literally raised her hands in disgust and said forget it was They clean the utensils full of dirt and dead skin in the basin that you put your feet in and then ask you to put your feet in a basin full of everything they just took off of your feet!! I went in for a gel polish removal and was told it was $5 - great! It was the most thorough and nicely executed gel removal I've ever received. BUT THE UPSELLING - ugh! no I did not want a manicure; no I did not want a 10 minute massage; ok fine I will get a 10 minute massage for $12. I had Lisa so I don't know if this is the norm here. The massage was mediocre but most nail salon massages are. Lastly, the really annoying part is when I was told the total instead of $17 she added .50 to each to make it 18. Nail Studio is one of the most relaxing and professional places in the city. They do an excellent job with gel manicures and pedicures alike. Having an array of colours between essie, opi, CND, and perfect match. Even if they don't have the exact name I'm looking for, Kelly always helps me find a new favourite! These girls have been going above and beyond since the first time I came, and even now (touching up between visits or giving me another coat of gel during a pedicure) they continue to impress me. I've been getting mani/pedis at the Nail Studio for a year or so and have been pretty pleased with the results! All of the staff is helpful and take the time to do a through job. One of the technicians, Alina, is particularly great and recently she let me know that she is also trained in massage. Went here as a walk-in and got a gel manicure. 1 week later and it's already chipping at the top of my nails, and the color looks like it's fading - turning yellow and pink. It appeared that the polish itself was severely watered down because it was streaky when it was being applied. The purpose of getting a gel manicure is so that it lasts more than 1 week. This was the worst nail experience I've ever been to, the girl doing my nails made rude comments to me the entire time about my appearance and when she cut my foot she blamed it on me. She then let me know that I had to give her a 15% tip or more and would not accept anything less before giving me my card back.
