I usually don't leave bad reviews but I really feel that it is necessary…read more I want to start by saying that I live in Chicago and go regularly to EWC (every 5 weeks) but am on vacation for my wedding. I went to Angel because she had great Yelp reviews. Yes she is very nice but no she is NOT a good waxer. She didn't show me how my face looked while/after waxing which was really bizarre but I thought maybe just with the masks it's different? She left a good chunk of hair on my upper lip, like it looked like she missed half. There was also a ton of hair left in my nose. It was super frustrating because I had to go back and didn't realize it right away while I was there because she didn't show me (which is normal practice in Chicago). I also had a Brazilian done. I felt like she didn't wait for the wax to get tacky and during the waxing process I was kind of like oh that's more sticky than it should be - but didn't say anything. Now I'm actually having hair grow back (and noticed some spots she missed) two days later. This has literally never been a problem before - and like I said I have been a consistent waxer for 2+ years at EWC. I am still a huge fan of EWC but just not the location or maybe just not Angel? I only gave 2 stars because Avery was nice enough to fix the lip/nose wax and did a great job.

My first appointment with a different waxer went fairly well…read more I needed a last minute wax before going out of town. My only option was LaVerne. She's nice enough, but unfortunately I've left my appointment in tears. She pretends like she waxes everything twice and then goes in with the tweezers to be through, but frankly, based on these results it's because she has absolutely no idea what she's doing. She asked if I wanted her to get anything she missed and I had her re-do one part that was awful, but frankly I didn't want to get waxed again for a third time. I should've noticed the red flag when she was the only waxer today and almost every appointment was still available when I looked last night. Incredibly upset and will be looking for a different company from now on.

Hannah... wax queen which dreams are made of. If I could give this girl a thousand stars, I would…read more Hell, I'd give her the galaxy! I've "been with" Hannah for many years now, once you finally find somebody good it is hard to let go, let me tell you. Prior to stumbling upon her, I had been eh, sorta happy with the other Brazillian experiences around the area. I've driven all over from Canton to Ann Arbor to Bham and back. It's not that the others aren't good, it's just that Hannah is better. She is comfortable to be around, which helps when you're halfnaked. The other thing that sets her apart is her technique and the products she uses - both make all the difference in a painful or near painless experience. Trust me on that. You wouldn't think it, but Hannah's brazillians truly don't hurt. Sure, there is the ocassional zing of discomfort, quickly remedied by some applied pressure from her palm. Though she is a full service studio (with the exception of men's intimates), she specializes in brows & brazillians. Brows are another thing that I value quality with and am super finicky about. I mean, it's Right On Your Face. It kinda matters.. I trust her with arguably the most important parts of my body (heh), and she completely deserves that trust. So yeah, if you are reading this, you are reading it for a reason, maybe you're looking to get started or just switch salons.. Therefore, I don't think I have to sell you on the benefits of waxing (rarely any regrowth, smooth perfection for weeks, not a task to do it yourself.. shall I go on)- rather I hope to have inspired you to give Hannah and her cute new studio a try. I promise you will not regret it.

The Polished Nail is simply the best nail salon and spa in the entire area!…read more I rarely write online reviews unless a business is exceptional. The Polished Nail is most definitely exceptional in every way and is deserving of highest praise and commendation. The nail artists are outstanding in their skills and talents, carefulness, and desire to please and accommodate the needs and requests of their clients. The salon is impeccably clean and the atmosphere is quietly relaxing and lovely. The staff and artists are wonderfully welcoming, respectful, and kind. I regularly go to Polished Nail for gel or dip manicures and also for the deluxe pedicures. My manicures and pedicures never chip and it is obvious upon visiting the salon that the nail artists are meticulous about their work and focused on gratifying their clients with beautiful nails. Cuticles are always perfectly and gently trimmed, feet and hands carefully smoothed and moisturized, and nails clipped and/or filed to the specific length and shape described and requested by the client. In addition, the leg and foot massages with warm stones are amazingly relaxing and soothing. Again, every detail is handled with precision and skill and I have been to no salon where satisfaction of the client seems so important to the owners and artists. I have had the pleasure of Linda being my nail artist for almost three years when new ownership of the salon began. (Note that reviews prior to three years seem irrelevant since this wonderful salon changed ownership at about that time.) She is outstandingly talented and always pleasant in providing her services. I have often taken guests with me to the salon and they have repeatedly complimented the services of the other artists as well. I have been to many nail salons through the years, mostly in the Chicago area. I have never received better manicures and pedicures. The owners of the Polished Nail are deserving of being commended for their expertise and the excellence they have brought to their business.
