Lamb rack with green coconut curry!!!! Yummmm! And coconut rice. Also yum.
    Zoe E.

The lamb rack with green coconut curry is delicious! Not spicy at all, perfect for those who love the flavour of curry without the heat or the stomach pains! There were four pieces of lamb and i got one fatty and one lean - how perfect! The coconut rice is also wonderful. They have a lunch set on now which is quite a good deal: with a choice of salads with meats and a noodle/rice with meat. We had the flat rice noodle salad with viet sausage and the pork neck with cold vermicelli. Flavour-wise these two can be better but it's still good. Just the lunch set is more than filling for me, an average eater! Service on the other hand could be better in being more attentive. Not bad overall. What a life it would be if I could have that green coconut curry all the time!

Their lunch sets are flavorful, varied, and have generous servings. Enjoyed my green papaya and mango salad and the pad Thai.

I could give 4 for the lunch set. Good range of choice and decent presentation with reasonable price.

When asked for a great Thai restaurant for dinner, our hotel concierge quickly recommended Mak Mak…read moreand snagged us a reservation for a Saturday dinner for two. The restaurant is hidden back in the corner of a maze like area known as Landmark near the Central MTR station. Once we reached the Landmark, we just stopped at an information desk to receive final directions. We arrived early for our reservation which originally was made for seats at the bar but at this earlier time they had a table free for us. The bar sitting is not like typical high top seating but rather a long table attached to a wall at normal table height. You and your guests will just be sitting beside one another rather than across a table and perhaps sitting next to a stranger. The staff there were super friendly and spoke very good English which helped us tremendously. After a warm welcome, we were quickly shown to our table and offered water to start. We saw all our favorite Thai dishes on the menu just like back home in the States. We started with fried spring rolls and a couple Tsingtao beers to take the edge off a long day of walking around Hong Kong. The spring rolls were on the skinny side but with seven of them on the plate and a lovely chili dipping sauce on the side they hit the spot. Served with the rolls were some fresh vegetables that we can never seem to get enough of when traveling far from home. For our next course, we went with Tom Yum soup another favorite of ours. I was a little hesitant at first to order it as it was priced at $20 USD which seemed high to me for a bowl of soup but it turns out to be a big bowl that is easily shared between two. It is served on a stand with a candle below to keep it warm and two smaller bowls with a ladle to serve it up. Our server poured our first bowls and ensured we each got one of the two huge shrimp (head and eyeballs included) along with plenty of our goodies. The soup was wonderful with a multitude of flavors. Easily the best Tom Yum we have ever experienced. It was quite spicy more so then we are used to having but still very enjoyable. For our last course, we selected Pad See Ew with pork and were pleasantly surprised to find more pork than noodles in the dish. This dish also can be shared for two if desired. Everything tasted very fresh with a wonderful sauce and at the perfect temperature. We passed on any dessert at this point but not for lack of options but rather room to put it. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here at Mak Mak with friendly and helpful service at a very reasonable price. We hope to have an opportunity to come back and try some other dishes.

The very first Thai AYCE brunch I've ever been to!…read more I appreciate that it's AYCE and not buffet style, there's a standard menu you can order dishes from. The food is not made in bulk and you can decide on the spice level of your food. Their larb is delicious, but spicy, so you'll want this option to decide on the spice level. Great selection of food from appetizers, soup, mains and the best part it includes dessert! Service is both friendly and quick. The brunch itself is affordable (esp. for AYCE) and you can opt for a smaller portion so you can try different things and not waste food. Totally worth a try if you're in the mood for Thai food and want a good variety.

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ordered two dishes that were recommended at the front of the menu; 鮮辣香茅蝦 Spicy Lemongrass Shrimp Starter - Texture as hard as wood but if you just eat the shrimp it tastes alright 泰式生蝦刺身 - Thai style Raw Shrimp (Goong Che Nam Pa) - Super spicy awesome shrimp shooter For our main meal; Grilled Pork Neck Meat - Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Thai Green Curry Chicken - Full of flavor and creamy. Mango Sticky Rice - Not too sweet, just perfect in every single way. (but old photos shows their portions got smaller)

We made reservations so we got a prime seat by the window with a view and our waiter was more than helpful with everything. The unique thing about this resturant is that you can pick your seafood before they prepare it the way you want. Everything is fresh and very large! The one shrimp and oysters we got were the size of flip flops. Everything was very tasty and I am in love with the curry crab. After you eat the crab, order some hot roti and clean the plate. It's amazing!

We were there around 18:30 or so, and there were hardly a few tables occupied. The place has a fairly sleek and simple look. They have clearly marked options that could be made vegetarian. And not the ideal spot for people watching, but they have dainty little tables set up outside, if that's your thing. The hubster got TukTukTini (such a fun name!) which was lemongrass infused vodka with fresh passionfruit, rhubarb and lemongrass syrup for sweetness. It was good and had that tang. For eating, we got the pad thai noodles, sans spices (the child!), green curry fried rice and a massaman curry. Hungry people + delicious food meant polished plates. The pad thai was the least yummy dish that evening, missing the quintessential tamarind sauce taste. The noodles were cooked fine. They got the sugar and peanuts on the side on the plate, not mixed in. Not bad, per se, but I like my pad thai saucy. The green curry rice was very, very good. The rice had assimilated all that curry flavour. And that stasis of sweet, salt, spice was all there. The curry was supreme. Quite rich and lush, with the flavours all coming through that creaminess. And the potatoes! This is the second place, I recollect that probably either baked or boiled and fried the potatoes before adding them in the curry and it provided another dimension to that curry! Rather than bulky potato chunks blobbed in, to be cooked along with other vegetables. I could've eaten this plain up as a soup. More photos and details on the blog - thevegetarianvoyager[dot]com

The name itself makes you think this is more of a sweet kind of drink. Which, yes, it was. But to me, I was lovin' it! This could be dangerous because I could possibly get drunk easily thinking I'm only having a glass of juice. Anyway, my companion had a tom yum martini, which she says has a bit of a kick to it. Interesting. With the comfy looking booths and fancy bar chairs, i'd say that this place is a great date spot. Let's go on a date!
