In my nervous, unsure path through probate, Ellen Williamson of Ellen Williamson Law proved to be…read moreoil on troubled waters. My partner of thirty-three years died and I was both sole heir and executor of her estate. I was anxious because I knew I faced extremely important responsibilities and had absolutely no idea what they would be or how to deal with them. Even though I'm a writer, I could think of only one word: help! My dearest friend had been ill for the last three years of her life, and I was faced with what seemed like thousands of medical bills and legal papers scattered everywhere. I was already exhausted, and to say that I did not want to dive into all this is an understatement. Even knowing for several months that she was probably going to die soon, I had not put one foot up the looming legal mountain because I just did not want to. I was not ready, and then it was right before me. We both already had wills, but I was completely ignorant about estates, executors, probate, or anything except loss, cremation, and an empty house. Sometimes I was overcome with grief and sadness, and at other times I felt surprising anger and even relief. I was so emotionally vulnerable and so afraid of making irrevocable mistakes, it was paralyzing. I needed kicking off the cliff. But I also needed a soft landing. I knew enough not to pick an attorney from the yellow pages. A family friend in Austin whom I trusted had just been through a death and probate, and her attorney referred me to Ellen Williamson here in Dallas. That was the beginning of my upward turn because to know that somebody quiet, calm, and caring, but forthright and motivating, was supporting me was such a relief. Ellen is not just intelligent and intuitive; she is personal. I knew that it was my interests that were most important to her, and not a court, another client, or her next appointment. She is an expert who knows exactly what she's doing, what things you have to do next, in what order you need to do them, and why and how they will benefit you and advance your progress. I lost my fear of the unknown as she steered me through the steps to a peaceful conclusion. I can not recommend Ellen and Ellen Williamson Law enough. She is a treasure who will guide you with wisdom, care, and compassion. 5 stars. Polly

If I could rate this experience with zero stars, I absolutely would. I hired Matt Aycock to…read morerepresent me in a matter earlier this year, and after almost seven months of engagement I fired him, I found his performance severely lacking. Throughout this period, he failed to take any meaningful actions to advance my case or address my concerns. Not only did he overcharge me for minimal services, but he also displayed a consistently condescending attitude during our interactions, making me feel undervalued as a client. It became increasingly clear that he was more focused on appeasing the opposing side than protecting my interests. Moreover, I was alarmed to discover that he took significant actions on my behalf without my prior consent, including the submission of documents to the opposing counsel without consulting me first. This decision-making process felt unprofessional and left me feeling sidelined in my own case. If you are seeking an assertive and dedicated attorney who will wholeheartedly advocate for your interests, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. Based on my experience, I cannot stress enough the importance of finding legal representation that prioritizes your needs and communicates with you --do NOT hire this attorney.
