My partner of thirty-three years died and I was both sole heir and executor of her estate. I was anxious because I knew I faced extremely important responsibilities and had absolutely no idea what they would be or how to deal with them. Even though I'm a writer, I could think of only one word: help! My dearest friend had been ill for the last three years of her life, and I was faced with what seemed like thousands of medical bills and legal papers scattered everywhere. I was already exhausted, and to say that I did not want to dive into all this is an understatement. Even knowing for several months that she was probably going to die soon, I had not put one foot up the looming legal mountain because I just did not want to. I was not ready, and then it was right before me. We both already had wills, but I was completely ignorant about estates, executors, probate, or anything except loss, cremation, and an empty house. Sometimes I was overcome with grief and sadness, and at other times I felt surprising anger and even relief. I was so emotionally vulnerable and so afraid of making irrevocable mistakes, it was paralyzing. I needed kicking off the cliff. But I also needed a soft landing. I knew enough not to pick an attorney from the yellow pages. A family friend in Austin whom I trusted had just been through a death and probate, and her attorney referred me to Ellen Williamson here in Dallas. That was the beginning of my upward turn because to know that somebody quiet, calm, and caring, but forthright and motivating, was supporting me was such a relief. Ellen is not just intelligent and intuitive; she is personal. I knew that it was my interests that were most important to her, and not a court, another client, or her next appointment. She is an expert who knows exactly what she's doing, what things you have to do next, in what order you need to do them, and why and how they will benefit you and advance your progress. I lost my fear of the unknown as she steered me through the steps to a peaceful conclusion. I can not recommend Ellen and Ellen Williamson Law enough. She is a treasure who will guide you with wisdom, care, and compassion. 5 stars. Polly

    Cadilac Law

I would not personally recommend nor trust Cadilac Law with any case after my experience. I hired…read morethem to handle my 2021 property tax protest. In their defense, I hired them on the last possible day, but they assured me that the timing was no problem and that they would turn in all necessary paperwork on-time. They dropped off my paperwork as certified mail that same (deadline) day, but my County's appraisal district did not accept that as postmarked. This shows Cadilac's lack of experience as they assured me that they would get my paperwork submitted on-time but ultimately failed to do so after accepting the job and my paperwork. An experienced firm would have known that a last minute submission would have been futile and would not have assured me otherwise. Instead, Cadilac asked me to provide photos so they could build a presentation, but this presentation was NEVER reviewed by the County due to Cadilac's poor timing and failure to deliver on their promises. In terms of communication and legal support, I asked the staff for additional guidance for my house (relatively new). I never asked for confidential information from their real-life cases, just generic examples specific to houses less than 5 years old. One staff member said they would provide such examples but never did. Another staff member just referred me to their YouTube workshop which did not provide examples for a new build home (i.e., my specific request). At no point did the staff inform me that our paperwork was rejected due to late submission. I had to find out from my County on my own. When I called Cadilac about this issue, they did not apologize and instead shifted partial blame to me for hiring them on the day of the deadline and the rest of the blame to the County for recognizing a different day as the postmarked date. It didn't matter that they accepted the pay and affirmed that they would get a hearing scheduled. Cadilac tried to get my hearing scheduled by filing a motion for "good cause" but the County rejected this. In the end, all the work I put into the photos and descriptions was for nothing, and Cadilac knew that they were stringing their client along for the ride. Their staff had even informed me that the County takes any opportunity to reject cases...so why did Cadilac not inform me and think they could get my hearing scheduled? Cadilac's initial recommendation was to sue the County but I would have to pay even more (~6x of the charges paid thus far). Absolutely ridiculous. We landed at a partial refund for my initial payment, though I believe I should have been refunded 100% since NOTHING I paid for was delivered as promised. They had even told me my photos were great and that I should get a decent property tax reduction. Cadilac should have told me the truth about the case and the late reception from the County instead of stringing me along the way as I had called periodically to check-in on things. Communication with the staff was absolutely terrible and disorganized, over both email and phone. I thought I was hiring an experienced professional but turns out I was hiring an amateur shop. Stay away and save your money for a more professional and transparent legal team that communicates effectively with you and gets the job done.

The lady came off to me with an interesting asshole attitude. She was insulting, rude,…read moredisrespectful and hateful. Ms. Cadilac had no intention of rendering legal guidance to me because she became aggressive and belligerent and admitted she knew facts only shared with the attorney I went to her to investigate about the handling of my case. I experienced sheer evil from her words and while being asked to leave said to her, "God Bless you, Ms. Cadilac. Since you despise me so much I wish you wouldn't charge the prepay to my card for the $50.00 for a consultation fee." She said, "Okay." We'll see. I would never refer anyone for her services. I feel like I've been backstabbed by this attorney.
