Let me be clear, I ate Gerber baby food as a child, I fed my children Gerber baby food and damn near everyone I know has been a Gerber baby food patron. I just bought a jar just to make it current & very "clear" as a description of a customer experience! (My cat enjoyed it :-) As a customer for over SIXTY years, I was touched by the following news from this companies face for over 90 years. Ann Turner Cook, whose cherubic baby face was known the world over as the original Gerber baby, has died. She was 95. She was a Tampa, FL resident and her family says her legacy lives on beyond that infamous sketch found on millions of jars of baby food and were by her side during those final moments, but it's still a difficult loss. Cook was 5 months old when a neighbor, artist Dorothy Hope Smith, drew a charcoal sketch of her that was later submitted for a contest Gerber was holding for a national marketing campaign for baby food. The image was a hit, so much so that it became the company's trademark in 1931 and has been used in all packaging and advertising since. For decades, though, the identity of the baby was kept secret, spurring rumors about who it was with guesses including Humphrey Bogart and Elizabeth Taylor. Cook told The Associated Press in a 1998 interview that her mother had told her when she was young that she was the baby in the illustration. She said, "If you're going to be a symbol for something, what could be more pleasant than a symbol for baby food?" In the late 1970s, it was revealed to be Cook, who grew up to be an English teacher at Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida, and later a mystery novelist. A Gerber statement online: "Many years before becoming an extraordinary mother, teacher and writer, her smile and expressive curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to live on as a symbol for all babies." I purchased a gallon of gerbers purified water from the Big Apple Market several times a week I buy…read morea gallon of water,I prefer the water for infants,if they don't have that I go with distilled water While I had never purchased this brand,like the gentleman before me I knew Gerber had been fed it,and gave it to the little babies in the hospital,I didn't even read the blue label cause if I had it would have told me that while it can come from springs,it can be from other sources.When I got the water home I opened it and noticed that it had a strange taste,then I looked at the label and it said minerals had been added for taste,which I thought was a strange statement cause how wound babies know how it should taste the next day I tried to make a cup of tea and noticed the water smelled like swamp water,truly gross,those of you who live in New York know how the Hudson River can smell at low tide.So when I searched on yelp at first I couldn't find a site,but I googled to find the company address what came up was Gerber was being sued because their baby food contains arsenic,mercury and other to toxins,they were asked to recall the products but never did this the law suit.Today I foolishly attempted to call their customer service to let them know about their water spoke to a nice lady,kim who gave me a number for some nice ladies in the Phillipines who said they only handle Nestle Products.So foolishly I called customer service again,this time I spoke to another nice lady Erin who gave me another number in the Phillipines where I spoke to more nice ladies.Finally sanity struck me and I realized that any corporation selling tainted food to babies mothers would not take responsibility for selling nasty water,when I checked further I saw that they sell to Amazon,Target and Walmart.All businesses that are probably unaware of the problem cause their trusting,they trust a household name.Shame on you Gerber,have you no conscious.

I haven't found their dairy free cookies anywhere. I wish they were more widely distributed. ((4.5 stars))…read more Meredith's Bakery is a Hudson Valley bakery that appears at many of NYC's greenmarkets from Union Square to Chelsea to Columbia University. stopped by their bakery stand at the Union Square Greenmarket year-round (Wednesdays only). this one of the larger tented stands where a variety of traditionally baked, gluten-free, and sugar-free items. the hand-made preservative-free baked goods are neatly arranged from breads cookies to pies to scones and more. ingredient lists are stickered on packaging, so you can check for allergens and such. ended up stopping here before the Greenmarket closed, so pickings were pretty thin and this bakery stand is fairly popular. ended up getting a pack of four small oatmeal raisin cookies and even though that isn't a go-to cookie for me...the cookie was very good. the oatmeal cookie was firm on the outside with a moist, chewiness on the inside. the cookie has a nice texture and clean flavor to it --the balanced sweet taste from the brown sugar and raisins with hits of cinnamon and almost caramel-like notes. tbh, if this bakery can make a good oatmeal raisin cookie, then the rest of cookies and such are more than likely really good, too. the service was quick and friendly-ish. definitely would recommend stopping by this Meredith's Bread at any of the greenmarkets in the city.

I was hesitant at first to try it. I must say it was really good. I like the cute little plastic bottles. Maybe that's why the taste improved. I never liked soft drinks from a can. That's okay for beer but somehow it taints the sweet taste of soda. Maybe it's my imagination. Pepsi is still my second choice. I won't always hold firm to family tradition. When it's on sale it tastes even better! It's satisfying and gives me a little energy.

Mr. Softee is not your typical ice cream truck. Instead of selling pre-packaged ice cream bars, Mr. Softee is a mobile soft serve shop that sells Dairy Queen-like soft serve on cones and in sundaes. I had their vanilla soft serve in a cone and it was satisfying. It was creamy and had a good flavor. I had the soft serve topped with rainbow sprinkles and they were excellent. The rainbow sprinkles were nicely thin and provided sweetness to the soft serve without being overly sugary or waxy. I recently had a Mister Softee soft serve cone at Citi Field in Queens and while the soft serve there was fine and similar to what you would get from the truck, the rainbow sprinkles were not that good. Prices were a tad high, but Mr. Softee serves a satisfying frozen treat. Service was pleasant and quick. Mr. Softee is a good option for a frozen treat on a hot day in Manhattan. The rainbow sprinkles really stood out, but the soft serve was good but not special. I prefer the strong vanilla flavor and thickness of the soft serve at Foster's Freeze and there are probably better standalone ice cream shops in Manhattan. Still, Mr. Softee is worth trying at least once. Mr. Softee would be a hard truck to follow by car since parking in Manhattan is so expensive, but it is convenient if you are commuting by foot or train like most people in Manhattan.
