I've been seeing Dr. Rezk for 7 years now and I can't say enough good things about him. He's easy to talk to and takes the time to truly listen to any concerns I have, then make recommendations on where to go from there in terms of medication and/or therapy. I've had a lot of insurance changes over the years, and the medication I take always requires a new prior authorization every time this happens, and this is where Dr. Rezk and his staff truly shine. It's always a bureaucratic nightmare trying to get prior authorizations approved, and they dive in head first to get it done, even if it requires weeks of attempts. They've never once been unable to get an approval, so I'm VERY happy to have them in my corner. I can't recommend Dr. Rezk enough! read more

Sessions last less than two minutes. Their only concern is making sure you pay your co pays. The man replies to serious inquiries with sarcasm and childish smirks, condescending and completely unprofessional. He hung up on me once because I became upset with his behavior. If there is a five star review here it comes from friends and family, the only real reviews here are the one star reviews. In a fragile state the last thing you need is a person this immature and insensitive. It's awe inspiring. I hope people do not see his overwhelmingly positive google reviews and think that is the truth. It is not. I've been going to him for 6 years because whenever I've tried to find another psychiatrist, the wait time is insane or I simply cannot afford it. He has asked patients, directly to their faces, to go on multiple online platforms and write positive reviews for him. I've seen this happen in his waiting room and it has happened to me many times. He is paranoid and assumes everyone that walks in is seeking pills to get high or sell, NOT to be mentally healthy. Any time you disagree with him it's seen as an attack, not a dialogue. I haven't adjusted my medication in years because when I've told him my REAL symptoms, he gaslights you and says "that shouldn't be happening" as if that makes something better. He genuinely couldn't care any less because he doesn't care at all. He overschedules, so expect huge wait times for nearly an hour if not longer. He also makes patients come back once a month for refills, even for medication they've been on without issues for extended periods of time. I have pills I've been on for a decade and he still makes me come back once a month to "check in." He doesn't trust you to self-report symptoms if something gets worse, but he just really wants you to come back to get your copay. Skeevy stuff. He gives hardly five minutes to his patients before handing them prescription. His only purpose of seeing his patients is to extort money. Unfortunately all the horrible reviews are true. I don't like to speak mean of others but regarding this Doctor and his staff, it was a horrible experience. This was my first time seeking a physiatrist and it gave me such a horrible expectation of how psychiatry goes. The doctor on average talked to me for only 2 minutes per session, where he emphasizes on making sure to pay the co-pay instead of trying to see how I'm actually doing . Does not ask many questions at all and didn't seem to care much about my mental state and symptoms. During the intake process on my first appt, he denied my symptoms and made it seem like I was wrong with how I felt and didn't even want to hear my family history of mental health. Quick to diagnose and way to quick to prescribe medications without really understanding what the root problem actually is. Many diagnosis have similar symptoms, and he didn't take the time to determine which diagnosis would be best for me. The office staff is rude and sounds like they hate their job honestly. They are very low spoken and sound as if they rather be anywhere else than to help their patients. They book your appointments without even telling you or making sure the appointment date and time works for you. They never verify with you before actually scheduling the appointment. I only even knew about any of my appts due to the day before call stating I had one the next day. Didn't even make the appt with me but instead on their own. I had an extremely hard time with this office and provider. They don't ensure your prescriptions are filled at the right time. When you ask them to fill the script, they don't and say they do. They never give you the right information. I informed provider and office staff that my prescription is running low where they stated they would make sure he refills it. He didn't. I spoke to dr directly and told him i needed a refill because he gave me a 30 day supply last time he filled it instead of a 90 day supply. Still wasn't filled. Once my medication ran out, i told them 4x I needed them to contact my pharmacy to authorize my prescription, they didnt. I was then off my meds for a week and a half before I got fed up and kept calling his and his offices phone with calls until they did what they are supposed to do. No-one should have to beg and beg to be listened to by a psychiatrist. The office has no sense of empathy for their patients. I had a family member call and request my medication be refilled and the worker gave them their name and told my family member to have me (the patient) call them back to discuss. Once I called, and asked for the person name they gave, they told me that person wasn't even in the office that day. How is it that they had just spoken to my family member but now that I call, they suddenly aren't in the office at all the same day? They give misinformation regarding who you are speaking to and that they are relaying information to the provider when obviously they aren't. Also, they claimed that my medication was not being authorized to be refilled due to my insurance requiring a 90 day supply rather than a 30, BUT as I mentioned before, the last time they prescribed me the same exact medication and the same dosage, it was a 30 day supply then and it was authorized. They gave me false information as to why the medicine wasn't being filled promptly ( I notified them like 3 weeks in advance and went almost 2 weeks with no medicine). The office obviously did not look into my medicine refill as they should. I work in a hospital and I know that this is not the proper treatment for patients seeking help. Its really unfortunate that people have to deal with this. They have no regard for their patients. I would honestly give 0 stars if I could. This place gave me a lot of heartache. I came to them trying to better myself and find help, but instead they made me feel like a burden and as if I don't matter. I only went to them because they were the only providers I could find that accepted my insurance metro plus (medicare). I really feel bad for anyone else who has gone through this experience because this is a sensitive specialty to be in (mental health) and many people that seek help in this form are suicidal and treatment from a psychiatrist like this can really alter someone's life for the worse. It is not something to be taken lightly whatsoever, especially when it comes to mental health. DO NOT GO TO DR. REZK! I first went to Dr. Rezk because, at the time, he the only psychiatrist in Brooklyn that took NY Medicaid. Dr. Rezk's very small waiting room is always packed and he never remembered me, despite seeing me monthly for two years. Not something you expect from a mental health professional. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, he started doing telephone consultations. Last month, I had an appointment scheduled and he never called. I called the receptionist many times, emphasizing how important it was that I speak to the doctor - I need to speak to him each month, or he won't release my medication. Medication that I need, or I will start going into withdrawal. Withdrawal for my medication is extremely severe and it is absolutely unsafe for anyone to quit this medication cold turkey. Period. Something a psychiatrist should be well aware of. The secretary tried to contact the Doctor, but he never called me back. She scheduled me for his next available appointment, 5 days later. That's 5 days without medication. 5 days later, time for the appointment came and he still didn't call. Several hours later, after working with his receptionist and emphasizing again how important it was, Dr. Rezk finally called me back. Immediately, he started yelling at me. We had a YELLING FIGHT over the phone, wherein he: threatened to withhold my medication even further, told me I wasn't on the schedule either days for the appointments he missed (I was, the receptionist confirmed both appointments), and that I hadn't been to see him in months (not true, remember I have to go to him monthly to get my medication), and told me that he would not be spoken to like a child, and that he would hang up, and not release my medication at all, if I didn't treat him with respect. All I was trying to do was get a standard refill. In my opinion, this is inappropriate and negligent behavior. His receptionists are sweet and they try their best; but Dr. Nabil Rezk cannot be trusted with keeping phone calls let alone being in charge of anyone's mental health. read more

All the other horrible reviews of this "Doctor" are unfortunately true. He does not listen, nor cares, about anything you have to say. He is extremely quick to prescribe drugs, which is all he does. He only gives a prescription for once a month, then he has a 1-2 minute "conversation" with you at the end of each month, just to renew the prescription. He absolutely talks over you and is condescending and rude. I need to confirm if he actually went to residency at Mt. Sinai, as I really am questioning his credentials. I also want to find out how much he bills my insurance company as the total time spent with me might be 30 minutes a YEAR. He also goes out on vacation and does not renew your prescription. Calls to his assistant never reach him, and calls and texts to his mobile phone are unanswered. Nabil Rezk should not be allowed to practice psychiatry or medicine at all. He is a danger to the public and a blight on the psychiatric community. Do not believe any of the 5 star reviews. They are practically guaranteed to be written by his friends. Believe the terrible reviews, as you can easily see a consistency and commonality amongst all the reviews. I will now go to the other Physician review sites and post this review. This "doctor" must be stopped right now. In NYC you can also call 311 to file a complaint against a physician. I will do this now as well. There are many, many other choices for psychiatrists in NYC. This guy is absolutely shit for a doctor. I have never been to a more unprofessional and rude clinic. Right from the moment I entered, the staff was so unprofessional. The clinic was dirty. They were not accepting my insurance so I paid out of pocket. On my interaction with doctor, he didn't listen to me properly, kept speaking over me and the appointment time lasted less than 10 mins. The clinic didn't send my prescription to the pharmacy. On calling after the weekend, they weren't accepting that they hadn't sent the prescription. Didn't call me back to keep me posted. I asked for leave of absence and when I spoke to the doctor he said he was not going to do it because I had expressed my opinion about the staff being rude. Dr. Nabil has taken a keen interest in my mental health, is inquisitive, answers all of my questions thoroughly, and has recommended excellent new treatment option that my previous doctor did not consider. I have been going to this office for a while now to see Dr. Rezk, and although there are sometimes a bunch of people in front of me, the line always goes fast and I do not have to wait long. I also find that he listens to my concerns, gives constructive feedback to any discrepancies that may come up with symptoms and that he can quickly assess a situation. I have no reservations in recommending him to other people. I also think that having moved into the new office may leave a bad impression on others, but honestly, if you look at the service, it is excellent. Always behind schedule no matter how early in the morning you schedule an appointment. Unwilling to listen to me when I begged for months for my medicine to be changed because it wasn't working. When I couldn't afford the medicine, he refused to consider changing it so I was left to just withdraw on my own. Im a transgender person, I have never disclosed my gender identity but the staff uses my name and not pronouns to identify me and misgender me (which is great). The visits are relatively quick. I haven't spent more than 45 min to an hour waiting and being seen. The office is clean and reception is great. The doctor is empathetic, kind and knowleadable. I changed my mom from here because I believe he was pushing my mom to go to work instead of helping her with her medical improvement, as someone that works in the medical field it is important to treat a patient with respect and compassion and not just assume the patient wants to just "stay home" I realize it's a norm for many but not for all. The receptionist both of them in the Astoria practice are rude. Except the one in bk she is a delight. Also you wait for ever there. I'm glad we now have a Dr that is concerned about my mom's health that has compassion and a lot closer to me so I don't have to go far to get care for mom. Going to this doctor has been the WORST experience of my life! About 3 weeks ago I had a "tel appt" with him as I was suffering from hormonal/perimenopausal anxiety, which would occasionally cause heart palpitations due to adrenaline surges (was in perfect health otherwise). He only asked a few questions, diagnosed me with "depression, anxiety, panic disorder" and went straight onto prescribing SSRI (Prozac/Fluoxetine along with Buspirone). When I expressed my concerns about SSRIs taken along with another medication, he said I should take both daily without worry. I even specifically asked if it would have any effect on my blood pressure/palpitations and he assured me they wouldn't, just said to follow up in 2 weeks. Well...after only 2 days of being on these meds, I have developed a life threatening condition called "Serotonin Syndrome" and nearly died (hallucinations, objects would move and disappear, twitches/tremors, nonstop shaking and nonstop panic, blood pressure skyrocketed and heart was beating erratically for 48 hours nonstop, cold sweat, insomnia, mania, SEVERE depression/intrusive thoughts(which I NEVER in my life had before), lost ALL appetite, weakness, dizziness, couldn't move far from bed. I honestly thought I was in literal HELL! I was too weak to even call 911 and obviously couldn't reach the psychiatrist office on Sunday, so the only thing I could do was to stop taking the meds and drink water in hopes of flushing it out of my system. It was a MIRACLE that I survived (google serotonin syndrome, those symptoms are usually followed by coma and death). When I finally reached the psychiatrist on Monday, he YELLED at me, offered no support or advice on relieving my symptoms and follow up in 2 weeks! Needless to say, I cancelled that next appt and now have PTSD from the experience, which left me bedridden for a month! I am only now beginning to regain my senses and myself back and had to take a long leave of absence from work and life in general.And a note to the doctor who thinks he knows it all: DO NOT prescribe SSRIs to hormonal women(I later found out it disturbs estrogen receptors). Also, WARN people if you are prescribing them a potentially dangerous combination of drugs! Fluoxetine and Buspirone have been known to cause Serotonin Syndrome! You almost killed me with your ignorance and carelessness! I reported my symptoms to the FDA. PS: I am now on natural vitamins and minerals and am doing much better, only left with PTSD for life. read more

I find Dr. Rezk a good doctor. When I was looking for a private psychiatrist coming from a clinic I found him on the web. I submitted my paperwork assessment from the clinic that discharged me because I no longer needed intensive therapy. I have been going to him for about three years and he has never suggested going back to therapy which me and my close family feel I do not need. When I go in for my monthly check up he asks me all the right questions. He takes my insurance which is great because I'm on a fixed income. And I find him a kind and understanding doctor. Of course there is a wait time to see him which is usual for any medical office. I recommend Dr. Rezk. The staff is personable, professional and courteous. read more

Well, lets talk about when you first walk in. The dimly lit, dingy carpeted, and worn out chairs from a garage sale automatically show what type of service you're going to get. The receptionists are rude and irresponsible. I one time could not come in for an appointment and asked for a refill and was supposed to get called back. For FIVE days I was playing phone tag with receptionists as they kept promising they'd call me back. I was left without medication on multiple occasions. Then blamed when I told the doctor I was without medication for these five days. Now- the wait time. Of course doctor appointments always run late. But I hope none of you have a job or a family or any other type of life because you will be waiting in this creepy basement like waiting room for HOURS only to have a 5 minute discussion with the arrogantly smug doctor.
