I will tell you the facts, then you decide. But don't say you weren't warned…read more I needed an appointment to be cleared for a surgery scheduled on the 27th of August. The 2 surgeons involved wanted the test results by 8/18. I called the medical group weeks ahead of time, explained my situation but the office refused to see me any earlier than 8/19. The surgical coordinator phoned them and asked for the courtesy of an earlier appointment and they were refused as well. But the medical group assured all of us that we would have what we needed in plenty of time. On the morning of the 19th, the office called me to cancel my appointment because the doctor "called out". Needless to say, I was very upset about the delay this would create in getting my test results in time for my surgical clearance. The office thought they were "accommodating" me by asking me to come in on Friday, the 21st. Although they explained that "they have no control over when the doctors call out", they were asking me to take a later appointment, that would delay my test results and clearance until the following week. And, in addition, nobody knows when the doctor will call out so why would you even ask that of me? They weren't accommodating me- they wanted me to accommodate THEM. I had to fight for them to make sure I could see another doctor who WAS in the office that day. A professional should know hat is something that should have been done before they called and stressed me out. PS My appointment was notated as a surgical clearance appointment. So shame on everybody for treating that appointment so cavalierly. I saw the alternate doctor on Wednesday the 19th. Today is Tuesday, the 25th. My surgery is two days from now on Thursday, the 27th, and still no test results for clearance. As a matter of fact, the doctor is writing up the notes as I'm writing this review. It's apparent that he just forgot. To add insult to injury, I requested an Rx that same Wednesday. The doctor sent the wrong Rx to the wrong pharmacy. I called the office before noon, had trouble getting through, finally spoke to someone and explained what I needed. At 5:45 PM I got a phone call again, asking me what I needed. I complained to the office manager, who did not grasp the totality and scope of the problems in that office, and her supervisor is unavailable for a month. My surgeons are both Weill Cornell doctors in Manhattan. They are excellent- the best!- caring, talented, available, efficient. The office staff is excellent- efficient and friendly. I've had several surgeries at NY Presbyterian on the upper east side. Outstanding facility. I have had years of dealing with NYP and WC with nothing but superlative care. The Astoria office is an aberration. If you prefer going somewhere where they can walk and chew gum at the same time, move on. If you like stress and are young and healthy and not looking for the best in health care, you may have found the right place. Good luck.

It felt like a mom and pop medical office because everyone knew everyone. The self check in was very easy. I only waited about twenty minutes or less to be seen. I do like my pcp and know she will be my long time doctor. The office was very clean as well as the bathroom. The small little lab was well organized as well.

My past two visits to his office, I've left feeling extremely upset due to the tone/manner in which he spoke to me. Any attempt at asking him questions results in him developing an attitude and speaking in an extremely condescending, disrespectful, dismissive tone (with body language to match). He acts as though you just asked him to sacrifice his firstborn child. I have a lot of respect for doctors and always use a polite tone when speaking/asking questions, however Dr. Palkhiwala feels it is ok to speak to patients in a condescending, disrespectful, and dismissive manner. No matter how politely I speak to him, the conversation always ends in him speaking very disrespectfully to me, leaving me feeling quite upset. NYU Langone should really follow up with patients regarding their experiences with this doctor because he is quite out of line. Being a good doctor requires expertise AND good bedside manner. I'm going to be looking for a new cardiologist, as a result of my upsetting experiences with Dr. Palkhiwala.
