I purchased two orders of samosas for pickup from UberEats. I had the option for desi spicy, spicy, medium, mild. There were no customers. The friendly employee inside greeted me and told me it'd be about 5 minutes. The samosas were hot, fresh, flavorful, not oily/greasy, came with cilantro and tamarind chutney, and were overall enjoyable, but the portion was smaller than expected for a regular price of $9 for two ($18 for two orders). Luckily UberEats had a BOGO deal so $9 for four! The decor and ambiance were really cool! Check out the video I posted. I'd love to return for their lunch buffet and regular à la carte menu items.

Vegetable Coconut Curry with garlic naan and mango lassi, soo goood!

Delicious veggie coconut curry, bursting with flavor! The curry tastes like Korma with a coconut flavor and a mild spicy kick. The fluffy Garlic Naan was pillowy soft and perfect for mopping up the curry! The heaping portion of curry and garlic naan were priced reasonably. The restaurant gives a 15% discount to locals, who live in the area, which the staff kindly gave me. There's a nice small outdoor patio in front of the restaurant. Excited to come back for some curry!

I recently got the fish curry and garlic naan for delivery and my order came on time. The portion size for the price was excellent and the fish curry had great flavor and spice. While the salmon itself wasn't amazing, I could tell that a meat or a vegetarian dish would be outstanding. The naan was also great, delicious and garlickly. I would recommend Naanwise for your next casual Indian food out.

Fast and delicious for lunch! We ate outside on a windy fall day and enjoyed some warm sunshine for our meal. The bread basket was incredible--garlicky, buttery deliciousness. The masala sauce was so smooth and flavorful with just the right amount of heat for my taste. The chunks of chicken breast were not dried out like can be the case with chicken tikka. And the rice was fluffy and fragrant! Can't believe I haven't tried this neighborhood staple before now and it's my new go-to.

Picture of the South Indiana Specialties menu

Naanwise introduced a South Indian menu to top off its already delicious North Indian dishes. The South Indian dishes feature Idli, Vada, and a variety of mouth watering dosas. Tried everything on the South Indian side of the menu and now glad to have this gem of a restaurant serving these super delicious dishes. By far our favorite Indian restaurant in the DMV area.

Had a great dinner with my sisters here. I ordered the lamb biryani, and it was delicious tender lamb with a perfectly seasoned rice and a yogurt-based sauce that brought everything together. I asked for no spice, but it still had a tiny hint of heat, which I actually enjoyed! My sisters started with the veggie samosas, which were generously filled and flavorful. For their entrees, they chose the tikka masala. While the portion was on the smaller side, they really liked it, and it paired perfectly with the garlic naan we ordered. The naan was warm and garlicky, a great complement to everything we tried!

Excellent food exotic to an american. i highly recommend the garlic naan. i expect any of the naan are equally great. The cocktail i ordered was a generous pour / portion. The staff were very attentive and I thoroughly enjoyed. I thought the prices were a very good value for the quality

Takeout Review: A very good fine Indian cuisine experience. In the city this is one of my go-to restaurants for Indian cuisine. At this place you get authentic Indian flavors at a reasonable price. What I like most about this place is they are true to the heat levels, so order accordingly. If you choose medium or spicy spice levels expect true heat. I was very impressed with the quality of curry used in the chicken curry and lamb curry. The cardamon is so prevalent and in traditional fashion you get a hint of sweetness, warmth with the heat and depth of flavor. I really appreciate the focus on detail with some of their staple Indian dishes. I've tried various dishes and I always have a feeling of satisfaction in that I just ate a comfort meal. The focus on detail is comes into play with their takeout operation. The takeout food is so fresh. My drive home from the restaurant is approximately 20-25 minutes and the food still tastes restaurant quality fresh upon arriving home. My favorite dishes are virtually any curry dish. The naan is also delicious. I will continue to patronize and one of these days I will dine and and I anticipate giving it a 5* after my dine-in experience. Give them a shot.

Naanwise is a pleasant Indian restaurant steps away from the Woodley metro stop. The dishes were generous and the restaurant did not skimp on rice (thank you). Service was quick and the restaurant is nicely decorated in an Indian motif. My Rogan Josh was tender and the sauce will seasoned.

We were looking for a spot after walking around the zoo and came across Naanwise! Food is delicious, service is great and good portions. We ordered mango lassi, lamb biryani, lamb curry, chicken chettinad and garlic naan. The mango lassi was delicious and refreshing. We ordered all our food "medium spicy" which is a level 4 out of 6. Lamb biryani and lamb curry had soft and tender lamb pieces and both were great, the chicken chettinad was delicious and definitely spicy. One garlic naan gave 2 of us 2 pieces each. Overall all our food was great and we had enough for leftovers. It is pricier than we expected. We usually do order extra food at Indian restaurants to bring home leftovers, but typically it's not as much this. One recommendation: plastic bags or plastic containers would be better to carry leftovers. Ours started leaking and broke our paper bag within 20 minutes.

Portions were smaller and the naan used to be better. The real disappointment was the simple, ubiquitous papadums. What we got weren't traditional papadums but these puffy things that looked and tasted like commerciallymproduced facsimiles that came out of a bag; more like chips. Ditto for the chutneys which weren't chutneys but more like jarred sauce. Not impressed. We left feeling like what happens to fabulous restaurants that then become franchises. Dining…read more When Ashok Bajaj opened Rasika in Penn Quarter in 2005, he didn't just open a restaurant--he revolutionized how the nation's capital views modern Indian cuisine. Two decades later, it remains an absolute powerhouse and a masterclass in culinary consistency. The Accolades Rasika's trophy case is legendary. Chef Vikram Sunderam secured a prestigious James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, and the restaurant has consistently retained a top-tier spot on The Washington Post's 100 Very Best Restaurants list. It's the kind of place that effortlessly balances critical acclaim with a fiercely loyal local following, famously serving as a birthday hotspot for President Obama and a staple for D.C.'s culinary elite. The Menu While the iconic Palak Chaat gets plenty of well-deserved press, the true depth of the kitchen shines brightest in their classic entrees and customizable heat profiles. The Lamb Shank: A definitive triumph of slow-cooked execution. The meat is spectacularly tender, effortlessly falling away from the bone at the mere suggestion of a fork. Infused with a rich, aromatic blend of saffron and roasted coconut, the sauce achieves a profound depth of flavor that is both deeply comforting and complex. Saag Paneer (Malai Palak): Rasika's take on this classic elevates standard creamed spinach to an art form. The spinach retains a vibrant, fresh green character, expertly laced with garlic, onions, and green chilies. The paneer cubes are beautifully delicate, acting as the perfect velvety vehicle for the impeccably spiced greens. The House-Made Hot Sauce: For those who appreciate true heat, Rasika offers an exceptional house-made hot sauce that is cooked to order. Rather than just dumping standard chili oil on top, the kitchen freshly fires up this blend to your exact specifications, seamlessly integrating a fiery punch into your dishes without sacrificing an ounce of the underlying flavor profile. The Verdict Rasika isn't just a great Indian restaurant; it is one of the finest dining institutions in Washington, D.C. Whether you are a regular or a first-timer, the flawless execution of the lamb shank, the sophisticated balance of the saag paneer, and the tailored precision of their custom-cooked hot sauce make every meal feel like an event.

Certainly the best meal I've had in DC in years, which includes meals at Jont and P&P in the past several months. Unquestionably the best Indian meal I've had on Earth. The parade of dishes does not have a low point, which is incredible given the range of "mains" from chicken, to sable fish, to lamb taco, to pork cheek. Each dish shows clear French influence - we had most of the five sauces at least once - but with clear, vibrant warmth from Indian spices. Even at places like Eleven Madison and Le Bernardin, there's usually a miss or two. Not last night. Which brings me to the question: why not two Stars? Three? I think some of the answer comes back to ambiance and service. The chef's tasting does not have a dedicated space, flow, or timing. The rhythm of it can be somewhat offbeat with the constant arrival of over-the-top cocktails at the tables around you. And also, it has honestly felt like many of the waitstaff were "in training" on each of our recent visits. I know staff turnover is real and constant, and the staff last night were all perfectly kind, but I think there's a level of consistent experience - "worth a detour" - that has to elevate even perfect food beyond itself to garner the higher levels. Anyway, never mind that. And don't change a thing about the food or presentations. World class.
