    Charlotte's Piano Studio

    Charlotte's Piano Studio

I enrolled my 6-year old in Charlotte's 88 Key Kickstart program in June 2016 and was immediately…read moreimpressed with Charlotte's teaching method and ability to relate to and engage the students. My daughter was the oldest in the group, and Charlotte immediately recognized her readiness for more advanced content and responded accordingly with extra tasks and piano time so that she would not be bored. The Kickstart program is a great and affordable way to find out if your child is ready for individual lessons - if you aren't sure, just go for it! About six weeks ago, we started private lessons with Charlotte and I am so happy. Each week, Charlotte works with my daughter based on the prior week's lesson and develops new recommendations for the upcoming week's practice. Some days my daughter is more focused and ready to work than others - this doesn't phase Charlotte. She is always prepared with a creative game and clever tools to engage my child. My daughter is not only learning to play, learning proper posture, etc, but I am learning how to teach her. Much of the value of working with Charlotte comes from the guidance she gives parents on how to work with their student. The importance of this cannot be overstated when trying to develop a love for playing piano, since daily practice sessions can sometimes be boring and repetitious for the student as well as frustrating for parents. One of my favorite things about Charlotte is her clear boundaries, which are SO important when working with young children. She has a playful but stern manner when enforcing the rules of her studio, which she does with consistency. My children know what they can and cannot do when at Ms. Charlotte's studio (I often bring my 4 year old to his sister's lessons, so these rules are doubly important). Heads up to conventionally-trained pianists/parents: I am a former piano student myself, but have had no experience with the Suzuki method of teaching. As a result, I feel that it is perhaps more challenging for me to work with my daughter than I expected, since the primary focus is not on conventional methods (reading music is a focus, but secondary at this point), but rather on tapping into a child's natural ability to learn. I recommend that anyone who is also used to traditional methods of teaching have a conversation with Charlotte about the Suzuki Method and read up on it as well. SUPER impressed with Charlotte's Piano Studio and am very excited to continue working with her!

Thank you!* By combining the Suzuki piano method, Music Mind Games and note-reading series, Charlotte teaches students the ability to play by ear, use excellent technique, and read fluently with a theory curriculum that sparks discovery and instills memory through games. These piano lessons aim to inspire a love of learning along with excellence in playing.

Yeah, I've seen enough. I was eager to find a quality extracurricular music program for my 3 and 5…read moreyear olds who love to sing, and Bach to Rock's website sounded great, unfortunately all that glitters is not gold. We had two Saturday Rock City classes here and each time the teacher was unprepared, starting late. My girls are social butterflies, but the kids are not engaged by the lessons which seem unprepared and unplanned. The kids are only introduced to musical concepts for maybe 8-10 mins of the 45 min class, the rest of the time they read books (that are unrelated to music), and/or color coloring sheets to burn time. I was expecting for my kids to be introduced to actual physical instruments that they could see in person and possibly play, not Amazon picture products on a tablet-- there is no curriculum. This being a class for young kids is no excuse-- make the lessons energetic and engaging and you'll captivate kids. I'm very disappointed; being new to the Central Texas area, I'm having a hard time finding quality programs for kids. I do not recommend this place if you're seeking to build your kids' musical prowess.

PLEASE READ---- BUYER BEWARE…read more I never write reviews but I certainly read other peoples reviews to help inform my opinion. However, this time, because of how poor the service was from management with Bach to Rock (B2R) and how unfriendly their policies and customer service are to address customer concerns I felt I owed it to others to understand it before you do music or band lessons with B2R. First, you are obligated to pay month to month. While not a big deal to commit to that it becomes a big deal because of their downstream policies. Let me explain. If you are signed up for a band, regardless of how much advance notice you provide to B2R that you are not able to make your weekly practice, if the rest of the band is not able to adjust their schedules you are out your money for that week. Given the price for each lesson, one lost lesson a month, which because of kiddos schedules is not uncommon can really be expense to not be able to reconcile that on behalf of the customer. They do not allow your child any other alternative times to make up their session, so that means you lose your money. Since you pay a month in advance, they also will not refund your money for that missed lesson. Even though the rest of the band may attend and the instructor still hosts the session and gets paid, regardless, they will not reimburse or give you a credit towards next months charges. So in essence they "lock" you in for the month and regardless of any personal circumstance or sufficient notice, they DO NOT CARE, and provide no recourse or refund. When I attempted to address this concern with management (Trinidad Agosto - Assistant Site Director) they were complete unconcerned, rude and unreasonable. They just kept repeating, this is our policy. Whether the policy provides no concern for the customer, they could care less. Thus, unless you are 100% confident that NO personal circumstances will arise, and that you will never need to miss or adjust a lesson I would advise you to find music lessons else where because will will become very frustrated and then it only gets compounded when you try and appeal to reason with management and they have no concern in the world to try and do the "right thing" on behalf of the customer. Signed frustrated customer that will never do business with B2R again.
